Abstract

Field Experience Practice Program or Program Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) is a mandatory program to be followed by FKIP students of the University of Jember. As a field supervisor lecturer, in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of PPL in Junior High School 9 of Jember, I launched integrated PPL program with Lesson Study (LS). Junior High School 9 of Jember, as a partner in the development of the LS school in Jember by FKIP UNEJ, providing full support to the implementation of LS-based PPL. The support not only the license to undergo LS based PPL, but also school provide policies that encourage teachers to officials actively involved in the implementation of integrated LS-based PPL. This implementation is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the implementation of the PPL so as to improve the teaching skills of students (teacher trainee). Teaching skills were measured using two instruments with two different focus. The first is the student learning observation instrument (student-focused) and the second is an assessment instrument for teaching practices (focusing on the actions of the teacher trainee). From four teacher trainee of Biology Education FKIP UNEJ who had the opportunity to practice LS-based PPL in Junior High School 9 of Jember, all of them show improved teaching skills significantly. Abstract

Flipbook is organization of learning materials containing text, sound, animation, and video. This research aimed to produce a learning materials in the form of flipbook, especially on subject of animal’s growth and development for science class grade XII. The flipbook produced should be valid, effective and practical for use in learning process. Flipbook is a 2 dimensional application that is reliable and lightweight. This study used 3 stages from 4 dimensional model which are define, design and develop. The implementation of the developed product was planned by 2 different tests, the first was limited testing and second was field trial. All tests implemented in 44 students of 12 IPA SMA Budi Utomo Sidoarjo. The results showed that 1) an average score of 81.43 gained from 3 different experts which falls into a very valid category, 2) field trial got an average score of 88.46 also falls into very valid category, 3) pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2 got normalized gain score at 0.78 which meant that the improvement of learning outcomes after using Flipbook was very high, 4) the effeciency based on the students' response was 97.72% which was interpreted in very good category. It can be concluded that the developed Flipbook was easy and feasible to use in learning. Keywords: Flipbook, validity, effectiveness, practicality result, research and development

Abstract

The environmental conditions which are becoming worse is the potential problems facing humanity. Many efforts have been made to reduce environmental damage, one of them is by instilling environmental awareness through education. This education can be done through the application of learning that capable of empowering students positive attitude towards the environment. The reality on the field, the student academic abilities level are very diverse, necessitating a study to assess the effect of student academic level toward the changes in students attitudes through learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of the variation of academic ability on the attitudes toward river ecosystem of high school students in the city of Malang. This study conducted in academic years of 2008/2009. The subjects in this study were high school students in Malang, and the samples are SMAN 2 Malang students from class X7 and X8 and SMA Laboratorium UM students from class X2 and X6. This study applied to the second semester of 10 th grade students on the topic of River Ecosystem. The data statistical analysis from this study showed that the probability of academic ability is 0.376 (bigger than 0.05), so that thenull hypothesis is accepted and the research hypothesis is rejected, which means academic ability had no effect on student attitudes on the ecosystem of the river. Thus, it can be concluded that learning processes that aims to empower student positive attitude on the river ecosystem can be applied both to students with high and low level of academic ability Keywords: academic ability, attitude, river ecosystem

Abstract

One of learning models that can involve the active student in the learning process is Learning Cycle (4E). The results obtained by applying the Learning Cycle (4E) method is the increase of the activity of learning, in pre-cycle the result obtained 53,14% (less active criteria) increased to 62,08% (quite active criteria) in tha first cycle and in the second cycle increased to 75,38% (active criteria). The results obtained in the classical learning increased in pre-cycle (6.67%), to the first cycle (43.33%) and the second cycle (70%), then the aspects of affective is 75.33% in the first cycle, and increased in the second cycle to 77.46%. In the psychomotor aspects it raise to 71,67% that increase in the first cycle meeting 2 and increased to 77,5% in the second cycle of the meeting 2. So we can know that Learning Cycle (4E) method can improve the activities and the outcome of learning process based on the results. Keywords: student activities, the result of learning, Learning Cycle (4E) model.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect giberelin doses on the morphology of several soybeans strains (UM.4-1, UM.7-2, UM.2-4, UM.7-6, UM.6-2 , Gumitir and Wilis) which have been attacked by Bemisia tabaci. Research was conducted at Research Station, Indonesian Legume and Tuber Crops Research Institute, Malang. The design of the study was a complete split plot randomized block design. Spraying gibberellin on 35 days old (35 HST) after-planting soybean with variation dose of giberellin were 0 ppm, 25 ppm, 50 ppm and 75 ppm. Morphological observation was carried out on leaf length, leaf width, leaf area, ratio of leaf, petiole length, leaf shape, color of hipocotyl, rod coat color, the color of ripe pods and flower color. Data were analyzed using 2 ways Anova. The results showed that there was a difference in treatment’s effect against leaf width, leaf ratio, leaf area and petiole length of soybeans but no effect of dose variation on soybean leaf length. There is the effect of the combination treatment (soybean strains and dosage) of the leaf width, leaf ratio, leaf area and petiole soybeans but there is no effect of combination treatment on soybean leaf length. There is the influence of lines on the leaf width, leaf area and ratio, but there is no influence on the long soybean lines of soybean leaf and petiole). Keywords: Gibberelin, Bemisia tabaci, Morphology, Soybean

Abstract

Indonesian students got low achievement in many international studies of evaluation, such as in Trend in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). It is because they unfamiliar with higher order thinking skill questions. Generally, assessment in Indonesia contains less of higher order thinking questions and do not fit with the international standard of evaluation. The purposes of this study were to identify the test items of Test of Standarisasi Hasil Belajar (SHB) and to examine the capability of students of fifth grade to answer higher order thinking skills (HOTS) questions. The method uses was mix method (qualitative and quantitative). Test Standarisasi Hasil Belajar (SHB) Year 2017/2018 of Banyuwangi Regency for fifth grade was used. Twenty-seven fifth graders were participated in paper test. The result showed that the test contains of cognitive domain of knowing, applying, and reasoning of 48.9%, 40% and 11.1%, respectively. The test of capability of students to answer HOTS questions revealed low achievement of 80% and high achievement of 5%. In summary, the reasoning domain of the test should be more developed to encourage students’ capability in answering HOTS questions. Keywords: science test items, TIMSS, HOTS, fifth grade.
