Abstract

Employees’ empowerment has a significantly close relationship with employees’ job-related outcomes such as job satisfaction, job performance, and organizational commitment. This study aims to investigate the role of empowerment on employees’ job-related attitudes in the hospitality sector. This present study provides a literature review on concept of empowerment by explaining benefits and drawbacks of the concept. This study identifies several advantages e.g. more input of ideas, growth of interpersonal and guidance skills. The drawbacks are negative use of the power received, high risk of failures without supervision, conflicts result in less supervision among others. The study demonstrates a frame of empowerment in hospitality sector along with recommendations and implications. Keywords: Empowerment, Hospitality Sector, Job Satisfaction, Job Performance, Literature Review(1) Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Mus Alparslan University, Turkey* Corresponding Author https://doi.org/10.21632/irjbs.12.1.1-13

Abstract

This article develops an empirical model of the process through which human resource management (henceforth HR) systems within subsidiaries of multinational companies (MNCs) are constructed. It extends current models that had previously been developed. It integrates empirical evidence and analyses that had been published earlier with unpublished materials from the same research project. The empirical research applied different qualitative methods in data collection, which are also described in this article. Complementing a previous conceptual model, this article adds on a micro-empirical model of the process and five propositions. Keywords: Configuration, Empirical Model, HR Systems; Indonesia, Institutional Theory* Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Jl. Abstract

This study aims to investigate institutional logics underlying the initiation of change management process in public sector organisations. Organisational Institutionalism is used to frame the analysis. The study took place in three different public organisations in the Province of East Java, including one-stop-service for licencing as well as that of vehicle registration, taxing and insurance and also from local health authority. Qualitative method was employed to analyse information gathered through semi-structured interviews with 35 respondents. The study unveiled various institutional logics underlying the adoption of changes and innovation in the organisations. It ranged from the most common reason of improving performance gaps up to the needs to clean the organisation’s name and build a better image. The study contributes to the idea that organisation’s previous experiences as well as perceived institutional character affect the needs to conduct changes. https://doi.org/10.21632/irjbs.14.2.159-170
