Abstract

ABSTRAK: Makalah ini merupakan kajian tentang sebuah warisan persembahan rakyat, iaitu Mek Mulong yang bertapak di negeri Kedah, Malaysia. Kajian ini didasarkan kepada pemerhatian dan kajian khusus terhadap persembahan Mek Mulong yang diadakan di Kampung Baru, Wang Tepus, Jitra, Kedah. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mendokumetasikan sepenuhnya warisan persembahan rakyat yang masih wujud di kalangan masyarakat pedalaman dan juga masih aktif dipersembahkan sehingga ke hari ini. Namun, dalam konteks yang lebih mendalam, kajian ini tidak tertumpu sekadar mendeskripsikan sahaja corak persembahan Mek Mulong tetapi ingin melihat perkaitan persembahan ini dengan upacara ritual yang turut termuat di dalam Mek Mulong. Perkara ini disebabkan pengkajian dan penelitian yang dilakukan sebelumnya hanya menumpukan kepada persembahan secara dasar tanpa menelusuri aspek ritual tersebut secara mendalam. Makalah ini memperlihatkan bagaimanakah ritual itu diadakan, fungsinya, pengaruh, dan juga perkaitan ritual tersebut dengan komponen persembahan Mek Mulong peringkat awal. Secara tidak langsung, ia akan menentukan, sama ada ritual tersebut hanya sampingan ataupun pelengkap kepada persembahan rakyat ini secara keseluruhannya. Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study investigated perceived relationships between study habits, test anxiety, and learning outcome among students with special needs at the Federal College of Education (Special) in Oyo, Nigeria. The study used correlational research design, which is ex-post facto in nature. Random sampling technique was used to select 264 participants for the study. Two validated and reliable instruments were adopted for data collection, namely TAI (Test Attitude Inventory) with r = .85 and SHC (Study Habits Checklist) with r = .61 were adopted to collect data for the study. Four hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed that study habits and learning outcome of students with special needs are positively and significantly related (r = .380; df = 262; P < .05); while negative but significant relationship was found between test anxiety and learning outcome (r = -.480; df = 262; P < .05). Also, there were significant differences in study habits (t = 2.4201; df = 262; P < .05) and test anxiety (t = 1.860; df = 262; P < .05) between male and female (t = 2.4201; df = 262; P < .05). It was, therefore, recommended among others that study skills training should be incorporated into the school curriculum of the Nigeria’s National Certificate in Education Programme. Also that students with special needs be encouraged and motivated to inculcate good study habits in their programme.  KEYS WORD: Study Habits; Test Anxiety; Students with Special Needs; Learning Performance; College of Education Special. RESUME: “Kebiasaan Belajar, Uji Kecemasan, dan Hasil Belajar Mahasiswa Berkebutuhan Khusus”. Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan yang dirasakan antara kebiasaan belajar, uji kecemasan, dan hasil belajar mahasiswa berkebutuhan khusus di Sekolah Tinggi Pendidikan Khusus di Negara Bagian Oyo, Nigeria. Kajian menggunakan desain penelitian korelasional, yang merupakan “ex-post facto” secara alamiah. Teknik sampel acak digunakan untuk memilih 264 peserta dalam penelitian ini. Dua instrumen divalidasi dan dapat diandalkan, yakni ITS (Inventori Test Sikap) dengan r = 0.85 dan PKB (Pengecekan Kebiasaan Belajar) dengan r = 0.61, yang diadopsi untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian. Empat hipotesis dirumuskan dan diuji dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.05. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa kebiasaan belajar dan hasil belajar mahasiswa berkebutuhan khusus memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan (r = 0.380; df = 262; P < 0.05); sementara hubungan negatif tetapi signifikan ditemukan antara uji kecemasan dan hasil belajar (r = -.480; df = 262; P < 0,05). Juga ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam kebiasaan belajar (t = 2.4201; df = 262; P < 0.05) dan uji kecemasan (t = 1.860; df = 262; P < 0.05) antara laki-laki dan perempuan (t = 2.4201; df = 262; P < 0.05). Oleh karena itu dianjurkan, antara lain, latihan keterampilan belajar harus dimasukkan kedalam kurikulum sekolah dalam Program Pendidikan Bersertifikat Nasional di Nigeria. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Kerencaman ras, bahasa, agama, budaya, dan geografi dikenalpasti oleh ramai sarjana sebagai penghalang kepada proses konstruksi bangsa Malaysia. Dari Rukun Negara, kepada Bangsa Malaysia, dan terkini 1Malaysia, pelbagai usaha telah dan sedang dilakukan pemerintah bagi mengkonstruksi sebuah negara-bangsa namun tidak berhasil. Tinjauan asas mendapati kompromi longgar pemerintah dalam mengintegrasikan kaum-kaum yang ada menyumbang kepada permasalahan itu. Berbanding di Indonesia, Thailand, dan Singapura, ketegasan pemerintahnya yang tidak berkompromi dalam mengintegrasikan kaum menerusi asimilasi paksaan dan perundangan yang ketat telah berjaya membentuk bangsanya mengikut acuan masing-masing. Walaupun dikatakan politik Malaysia ada kecenderungan untuk buta warna dek ledakan maklumat dan pendemokrasian, ianya masih tidak memperlihatkan tanda-tanda untuk hilang selama-lamanya. Justeru itu, makalah ini bermatlamat melakukan tinjauan ringkas terhadap proses konstruksi bangsa yang telah diamalkan dan melihat secara kritis gagasan-gagasan tersebut dalam konteks sains politik dengan melihat tiga sudut utama: ideologi, ras, dan bangsa sebagai komponen pembinaan bangsa.KATA KUNCI: Politik Malaysia, premordialisme, nasionalisme, perkauman, proses integrasi, dan konstruksi negara-bangsa. ABSTRACT: Its unique compositions that based on multiracial, multi religious, multicultural, and multilingual as well as geographically divided has been identified by many scholars as an obstacle to the construction of Malaysia nation. Several efforts from “Rukun Negara” (national ideology), “Bangsa Malaysia”, and the latest “1Malaysia” have been and are being made by the government in realizing the prospect but no avail. Initial survey has found out that tolerant government compromise to integrate the multiracial Malaysian has contributed to the problems. Compared to its neighbours, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore, the persistence of their rulers who does not compromise on racial integration has forced assimilation through strict legislation has succeeded in forming their own nation-state. Even though the recent trends show there is a tendency of Malaysian to be colour blind due to some kind of democratization and freedom of information access, still however, it did not show any sign that racial politics will disappear for good. Therefore, this paper aims to make a brief survey of the Malaysia nation-building programs and critically look at these programs by looking at three main angles: ideology, race, and ethnicity as the nation-building components. Abstract

RESUME: Membangun karakter bangsa membutuhkan waktu yang lama dan harus dilakukan secara berkesinambungan. Salah satu upaya untuk mewujudkan pendidikan perilaku yang berkarakter adalah para peserta didik, baik siswa maupun mahasiswa, harus dibekali dengan pendidikan khusus yang membawa misi pokok dalam pembinaan karakter dan akhlak mulia. Di lingkungan pendidikan tinggi, pendidikan perilaku yang berkarakter untuk mahasiswa belum banyak dilakukan secara formal. Oleh karena itu, tulisan ini dibuat sebagai ide awal, untuk ditindaklanjuti, dalam bentuk rancangan kegiatan yang diderivasi dari kurikulum yang interaktif, yang mengarahkan mahasiswa pada perilaku yang berkarakteristik baik. Pendidikan perilaku berkarakter pada dasarnya tetap harus merujuk pada visi dan misi perguruan tinggi. Hal ini menunjukkan orientasi dua hal dalam proses perilaku karakter mahasiswa, yaitu: (1) perilaku manusiawi atau humanistik dari individu mahasiswa tersebut; dan (2) ciri khas lembaga pendidikan, seperti Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, yang merancang perilaku mahasiswanya untuk menjadi seorang tenaga pendidik yang berkarakter dan siap pakai. Dalam tulisan ini, kedua aspek tersebut coba digagas dengan mengacu pada beberapa tulisan lain. Hasil akhirnya menunjukkan bahwa lahirnya satu rancangan kurikulum berbasis sosiologis yang paten, sebagai rujukan awal, dapat mempelopori program pengembangan perilaku berkarakter pada level perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. KATA KUNCI: Pendidikan karakter, kurikulum, mahasiswa, fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendidikan, pendekatan sosiologis, dan perilaku manusiawi.   ABSTRACT: “Students and Character Behavior: Sociological Studies on Character Education in the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UVRI Makassar, South Sulawesi”. Building a nations character takes a long time and should be done on an ongoing basis. One of the efforts to realize the behavior of character education is the students, both the student in primary and secondary education and the student in tertiary education, must be provided with special education that brings the core mission of the character building and noble character. In the higher education environment, the behavior of character education for students has not been done formally. Therefore, this paper made the initial idea, to be impelemted, in the form of design activity derived from interactive curriculum, which directs students on good behavior characterized. Education on character behavior should essentially remain refer to the vision and mission of the college. This shows the orientation of two things in the process of students character behavior, namely: (1) humane or humanistic behavior of individual students; and (2) the hallmark of educational institutions, such as the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, which is designing the behavior of its students to become the educators who have good character and ready to use. In this paper, these two aspects are trying conceived with reference to some of the other studies. The finally result suggests that the birth of curriculum design based on sociological patent, as the initial referral, is able to spearhead the development program of character behavior at the level of higher education in Indonesia.KEY WORD: Character education, curriculum, students, faculty of education and teacher training, sociological approach, and human behavior.About the Author: Dr. Syamsu A. Abstract

RESUME: Wirausaha telah menjadi isu yang berkembang dan sudah terbukti sanggup menguatkan ekonomi bagi rakyat Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, pemerintah, melalui instansi pendidikan, mempunyai program penerapan kewirausahaan sedini mungkin, dengan tujuan agar masyarakat dapat mempunyai mental dan jiwa usaha yang tangguh. Kurikulum wirausaha sangat diperlukan untuk kemajuan dan kemandirian bangsa Indonesia. Penerapan kurikulum kewirausahaan di tingkat Sekolah Dasar lebih mengutamakan penguatan dasar-dasar nilai wirausaha. Namun, kendala masih ditemui dalam menerapkan program kewirausahaan tersebut, yaitu Dinas Pendidikan secara nasional belum mempunyai standar kurikulum baku dan belum terintegrasi dengan konsep multibudaya. Masing-masing sekolah masih mengembangkan konsep kurikulum berbasis wirausaha tanpa berintegrasi dengan sekolah lain. Model kurikulum berbasis wirausaha yang dikembangkan ini bertujuan untuk mengintegrasikan penguatan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan kontekstual di tingkat Sekolah Dasar pada mata pelajaran berbasis hitungan dan mata pelajaran berbasis budi pekerti, yang keduanya bertujuan untuk mengembangkan budaya kejujuran, integritas pribadi, dan kerjasama tim dalam wirausaha. Kurikulum wirausaha yang terintegrasi dengan mata pelajaran berbasis sains dan inovasi produk juga harus disesuaian dengan kemampuan peserta didik tingkat Sekolah Dasar.KATA KUNCI: Kurikulum wirausaha, konsep multibudaya, Sekolah Dasar, standar kurikulum, terintegrasi, dan budi pekerti. ABSTRACT: “Model of Entrepreneurial-Based Curriculum as Strengthening Efforts towards Multicultural-Based Education in Primary Schools”. Entrepreneurship has become a growing issue and has already proved capable of reinforcing the economy for the people of Indonesia. Therefore, the government, through the educational institution, has an entrepreneurial program implementation as early as possible, in order that people can have mental and soul of the business is tough. Entrepreneurial curriculum is indispensable for progress and independence of the nation of Indonesia. Entrepreneurship curriculum implementation at the elementary level has prioritized the strengthening of the foundations of entrepreneurial values. However, obstacles still encountered in implementing entrepreneurship programs, namely the Department of Education nationally does not have any standardized curriculum and have not also yet been integrated with the concept of multi-culturalism. Each school is still developing the concept of entrepreneurship-based curriculum without integrating with other schools. Entrepreneurial-based curriculum model, that is developed, aims to integrate the strengthening of fun and contextual learning at the elementary level in the subject matters based on count and character, which are both aimed at developing a culture of honesty, personal integrity, and teamwork in entrepreneurship. Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to get the perspective of the Moro people in the Philippines islands, specifically members of MAPEA (Maguindanaon Professionals and Employees Association), on the belief that this sector could give an educated, intelligent, and strategic formula for the just, peaceful, and lasting solution to the political problem of the “Bangsamoro” people for self determination. In this study, an explanation based on the historical perspectives is necessity. It is to gather the answer of critical question, especially related to what are the root causes of the “Bangsamoro” political problem. Accordingly, the Philippine history is replete with many stories of rebellion and secession. In Mindanao alone, the government has been spending time, efforts, and resources to contend the armed movements. Besides, the “Bangsamoro” struggle for independence has started from 16th to 20th century. In 1968, after the Jabidah Massacre, MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) fought against the government forces and the violent armed confrontations ended up in the peace talk in Tripoli, Libya in 1975. When in 1996, the GRP (Government of the Republic of Philippine) – MNLF Final Peace Agreement was forged, the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) continued the struggle so that the All-Out War declared by the Estrada administration in year 2000. Finally, the perspective of the members of MAPEA does not differ from what have already been done to solve the “Bangsamoro” political problem. Just like other organizations, they are hopeful that the conflict would end. This is a new learning. Abstract

RESUME: Pembangunan masyarakat, konflik, dan perang, yang menjadi latar belakang peristiwa-peristiwa penting pada abad ke-17 di Sulawesi Selatan, merupakan ekspresi dari harga diri. Pembangunan masyarakat, sudah barang tentu, dimulai dengan membentuk “polity” (entitas politik), seperti kerajaan atau negara, dengan Raja yang dipilih oleh kepala-kepala “wanua”. Bentuk federasi diubah menjadi kerajaan atau kekuasaan yang sentralistik. Ibukota kerajaan selanjutnya dipindahkan dari pedalaman ke pesisir, di muara sungai. Artinya, sistem kekuasaan yang semula berorientasi agraris selanjutnya berorientasi maritim. Sesudah itu, proses pembangunan kerajaan dilakukan dengan jalan ekspansi dan penaklukan, serta mengangkut penduduk negeri taklukan tersebut ke ibukota kerajaan. Proses ekspansi dan penaklukan ini juga menciptakan hubungan perkawinan, dengan menempatkan keluarga bangsawan di negeri “vazal”, serta membangun kerjasama dan tolong-menolong dengan negeri “vazal”. Artikel ini membahas tentang perkembangan sejarah Kerajaan Gowa dan kerajaan-kerajaan lainnya di Sulawesi Selatan pada abas ke-17 Masehi. Bisa dikatakan bahwa abad ke-17 adalah puncak kebesaran Sulawesi Selatan, terutama bagi suku Bugis, Makassar, dan Mandar. Nilai-nilai yang berkembang pada periode itu masih dapat ditemukan sebagai acuan dan gaya hidup orang-orang Bugis dan Makassar di masa kini.KATA KUNCI: Konflik, kontrak sosial, kerajaan Gowa-Tallo dan Bone-Soppeng, sistem nilai, perkembangan Islam, dan VOC Belanda. ABSTRACT: “Conflict, Social Contract, and the Growth of Islamic Kingdoms in South Sulawesi”. Community development, conflict, and war, as the background of important events in the 17th century in South Sulawesi, is an expression of self-esteem. Community development, of course, begins with forming a political entity, such as the kingdom or state, the king chosen by the heads of “wanua” (community). The form of federation entity converted into a power centralized kingdom. Royal capital city was then moved from the interior to the coast, at the mouth of the river. It means that the power system initially agrarian-oriented has then changed to the maritime-oriented. After that, the development process of the kingdom is done by using the expansion and conquest, and conquered the inhabitants of the land are transported and moved to the capital city of the kingdom. The process of expansion and conquest also creates marital relationship, by placing a noble family in the country of “vazal” (colonized), and to build cooperation and mutual help with the country of “vazal”. This article discusses the historical development of Gowa Kingdom and other kingdoms in South Sulawesi on 17th AD (Anno Domini). It could be said that the 17th century was the peak of the greatness of South Sulawesi, especially for the ethnics of Bugis, Makassar, and Mandar. Abstract

ABSTRACT: This initial study was done to identify consumers’ inclinations and perspectives on issues regarding health and natural resources in using herbs and herbal products. Questionnaires were distributed at three different locations around Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia to respondents of different ethnic and working groups. The respondents were required to respond to questions which probed factors such as consumers’ habits and behaviours, awareness and perceptions, preferences and choices as well as influences of the mass media. The study found that factors impinging on consumers’ inclinations such as product commercialisation, preferences, media influences, and job opportunities have positive impacts. The identification and property of these factors contribute to enhancement of a model for consumers development towards healthier lifestyle through increased consumption of natural and herbal products. Abstract

This journal, with ISSN 1979-0112, was firstly published on May 20, 2008 in the context to commemorate One Millenium of National Awakening Day in Indonesian. The SOSIOHUMANIKA journal is published twice a year i.e. every May and November.
