Abstract

Background : The main causes of death in neonates are complications of pregnancy and childbirth, such as asphyxia, sepsis and low birth weight complications. Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) is a condition related to the respiratory system of neonates. The large number of RDS cases is one of the highest causes of death in neonates. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the risk factors for the incidence of RDS at Buleleng District Hospital, especially in premature neonates in 2020.Methods: This research method uses a retrospective cohort study. Where the data was taken using secondary data in the NICCU room at Buleleng Regional Hospital. The independent variables included are the characteristics of the neonate including gestational age, history of hypertension experienced by the mother during pregnancy, birth weight, history of premature rupture of membranes, history of asphyxia experienced during the birth process. The dependent variable in this study was the incidence of RDS in neonates. The sample included in this research was 64 mothers who gave birth at the Buleleng District Hospital in 2020. This research used univariate analysis to assess the frequency distribution of each variable, then continued using bivariate analysis to determine the variables that were included in the multivariate analysis. Multivariate analysis was carried out computerized using logistic regressionResults: The results of this study found that there were 2 risk factors that directly increased the incidence of RDS in neonates including premature gestational age with a value of p 0.01 (19.8, 95% CI 1.8-133.7, low birth weight ( 2.9, 95% CI 1.9-8.4). Conclusions: The conclusion is that there are 2 risk factors that are associated and increase the incidence of RDS in neonates, namely premature gestational age and low birth weight.

Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding provides infants with breast milk and no additional food, water, or other liquids (except medicines and vitamins, if necessary) for the first 6 months of life. Current practice of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia among infants aged 4-5 months is 27%, while between age 5-6 months is 3.4%. The main contributing factors of the poor adherence to exclusive breastfeeding is the lack of knowledge, which affects behavior and motivation. Producing inclusive, appropriate, and acceptable media is essential to manage this issue. Objectives: The current study aimed to compare the effectiveness between application and booklet as educational media toward mother's adherence in exclusive breastfeeding. Methods: A quasi experimental study with pre-post test with control group design carried out. The research subjects were mothers with infants aged 4-6 months in the adminstrative area of the Gamping II Public Health Center, Sleman Regency and consist of 3 villages; Banyuraden (8 hamlet), Nogotirto (8 hamlet), Trihanggo (12 hamlet)  Sample determined with purposive sampling, while recruitment performed by simple random sampling. The number of samples in the control and intervention grups were 32 respondents, and total sample is 64. Exclusive breastfeeding adherence was evaluated by knowledge, and attitudes questionnaire, validated with breastfeeding record within 24 hours. Comparative analysis was performed with Mann Whitney and Mc Nemar test. Results: p value yielded from pretest and posttest in the intervention group p=0.109. It was inferred that there was no significant difference of breastfeeding adherence in association with the intervention. The control group p value was p=0.039 indicating significant difference of adherence in breastfeeding practice. Conclusions: Booklet improves adherence to exclusive breastfeeding due to the depth of materials, familiar for the intended audience, practical, easy for content distribution, visually captive, attractive and easy to use. In-app educational media could increase knowledge and attitudes in particular to exclusive breastfeeding

Abstract

Background: High-risk pregnancies can cause more complications for the mother and fetus during pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium compared to normal pregnancies. High-risk factors during pregnancy can increase worry and stress, which can influence labor and delivery and are risk factors for postpartum depression. During pregnancy, stress can increase the risk of having a premature, low-birth-weight baby. Hypnoprenatal is an effective communication method to incorporate positive suggestions into the subconscious mind of pregnant women to reduce anxiety and stress during pregnancy. Objectives: to determine the effect of hypnoprenatal intervention on anxiety and stress in high-risk pregnant women in the North Tapanuli District. Methods: This research method used a pre-experimental method with a one group pre-test post-test design. Samples were taken by the purposive sampling method, which, based on the inclusion criteria, obtained as many as 36 high-risk pregnant women who experience anxiety and stress. Hypnoprenatal intervention was carried out for 3 days, twice a day, and then observations and interviews were carried out using the DAS 42 questionnaire. Data analysis used a paired t-test. The results showed that the characteristics of the respondents based on the age of the majority were >35 years (44.7%), secondary education (33.3%), farmer's work (52.8%), primigravidas (17%), high-risk pregnancies (72.7%), and low risk (27.8%).Results : The results of the statistical tests showed differences and decreased levels of anxiety and stress in pregnant women at risk before and after the hypnoprenatal intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusions: hypnoprenatal has a significant effect on the level of anxiety and stress among pregnant women at risk. It is recommended that pregnant women use hypnoprenatal techniques to help reduce anxiety and stress during pregnancy, which affects the mother's psychological condition.
