Abstract

Background: Science Process Skills (SPS) is a skill that facilitates students to find realities, decide on ideas and apply theory to daily existence. Textbooks in North Sumatra are assorted, and the availability of SPS aspects is not widely known. This study aims to determine the availability of SPS aspects in the most widely used high school textbooks in senior high school in one of city in North Sumatera. Methods: This study used content analysis research. The samples were purposive sampling using the most widely used books in state high schools in Binjai City. The data analysis technique in this study includes quantitative and qualitative. Qualitative data analysis was carried out by identifying the emergence of SPS aspects in the analyzed textbooks. Meanwhile, quantitative data analysis is carried out by calculating the frequency and Percentage of occurrences of SPS aspects in biology textbooks. Results: The results showed that the high school biology textbook class 10 was appropriate in providing aspects of science process skills in Ecosystem material. Book A provides 80% of all aspects of science process skills and book B provides 60% of all aspects of observed science process skills. Conclusions: of this study can be used as a reference for teachers in choosing textbooks that will be used as learning resources in facilitating SPS. Abstract

Background: This study aims to determine the effect of the blended learning model on the creative thinking ability of high school students on biotechnology materials at SMA N 1 Sukaraja, Sukabumi Regency. Methods: The method used in this study is a quasi-experimenal research design, namely the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The research instrument used was an uraian test with 8 questions integrated with 5 indicators of creative thinking ability (Fluency, Flexibility, problem sensitivity, Originality, and Elaboration). Results: In testing the hypothesis using the independent sig (2-tailed) test is 0.00 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected. So use of the blended learning model on the creative thinking abilities help in the learning process to improve creative thinking in the learning process in the classroom. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is an effect on the use of the blended learning model on the creative thinking abilities of class XII students on biotechnology materials at SMA Negeri 1 Sukaraja.

Abstract

Background: Representation is a tool to improve students' communication, interpreting, and problem-solving skills. Visual representation (RV) can provide information about understanding the object/phenomenon observed about the concept under study. This study aimed to determine the relationship between visual representations and material content and the relationship between visual representations and the reality of images contained in the Circulation System material. Methods: This study used a content analysis method with a qualitative data analysis technique. Results: The analysis results show a relationship compared to the category of significant relationships on the circulation system's material and the relationship of symbolic visual representations. Conclusions: The analysis that has been carried out on the visual representation of SMA/MA biology books in the city of Stabat for the circulation system material, it can be concluded that the Visual Representation relationship contained in SMA/MA biology books was found to be more dominant for the category of no relationship compared to the category of a significant relationship in circulation system material presented. In addition, when analyzed concerning the reality of the image, the visual representation displays the relationship of symbolic visual representations in the analyzed biology textbooks. In addition to choosing a textbook, the teacher should pay attention not only to the content of the learning material but also to look at the components in the book, one of which is the picture in the textbook. This will later be useful to support students' understanding of the concepts being taught.

Abstract

Background: In the learning process, the teacher has not brought up the phenomena related to the material to find a solution. Such a learning process has not accompanied students to a problem that requires students to be able to formulate problems, formulate hypotheses, draw conclusions, and recommend problem-solving. This has an impact on the low problem-solving ability of students. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the problem-solving ability of Biology students in class X IPA-1 Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Miftahul Fallah Diski. Methods: The research method used is a quasi-experimental research design with One-Group-Pretest-Posttest. The data analyzed were in the form of pretest and post-test with data requirements test in the form of normality test and homogeneity test. Results: The results of the hypothesis test obtained the value of Sig. (2-tailed) in the "Equal variances assumed" section of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be. Conclusions: H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a positive and significant effect on students' problem-solving abilities in biology material. protists in class X IPA-1 SMA Madrasah Aliyah Private Miftahul Fallah Diski in the 2021/2022 academic year. PBL can increase the students' average pretest and post-test scores, where the average pretest score is 52.62 with a standard deviation of 7.352 and the post-test average value is 82.86 with a standard deviation of 6.036.

Abstract

Background: Learning outcomes are the object of class evaluation as new abilities obtained by students after participating in the learning process. However, the facts on the ground show that high school students' learning outcomes in biology material are still low. Based on the results of interviews with State Madrasah Aliyah teachers in Serdang Bedagai, students' learning outcomes are generally low because they do not have a strong understanding of concepts, one of which is the material on the reproductive system. So we need a learning model that can help students understand the concept and can improve student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of PBL learning with the help of Al-Quran Integrated Audio Visual Media on Student Learning Outcomes in Reproductive System Materials. Method: The population in this study were all class XI IPA Madrasah Aliyah Negeri in Serdang Bedagai which were taken using the saturated sampling technique. The type of research used is quantitative research, namely quasi-experimental research with nonrandomized control-group pretest-posttest research design. Conclusion: The results of data analysis obtained from the ancova test obtained a calculated F value of 8.394 with sig. 0.005, where 0.005 < = 0.05 which indicates that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Using the PBL model assisted by the integrated audio-visual media of the Al-Quran on the material of the reproductive system.

Abstract

Background: Blended-Contextual Teaching and Learning is a combination of contextual learning models with blended learning. The learning that is created is the concept of a contextual model where the teacher acts as a facilitator and moderator and does not tend to present something already finished to students. This analysis is aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Blended-Contextual Learning model on the freedom and understanding of the concepts of high school students in class X Ecosystem material.. Methods: In this research, the quantitative research method was used using experimental research and research design, namely Quasi-Experimental Design, using an assessment instrument that has been tested for validity. The research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah with a sample of 48 students. Results: Blended-Contextual Learning effectively increases the independence and students' conceptual understanding ability treated with the Blended-Contextual Learning model. Conclusions: Blended-Contextual Teaching and Learning has a practical effect because it has a positive influence on stimulating an increase in student's conceptual understanding, as seen in the data analysis above, which shows an increase in conceptual understanding in the treated class.

Abstract

Background: Asteraceae grows a lot in the tourist area of Lake Ranu Gumbolo Tulungagung and is not given much attention because it is only considered a wild plant. Hence, the utilization and management of these plants could be more optimal. This research aimed to identify the species diversity of the Asteraceae tribe on the shores of Lake Ranu Gumbolo, Tulungagung. Methods: The method used was to explore every corner of the observation location and calculate its diversity index. Results:  A total of 8 species of the Asteraceae tribe have been identified on Lake Ranu Gumbolo, including Blumea balsamifera, Sphagneticola trilobata, Grangea maderaspatana, Ageratina Riparia, Ageratum conyzoides, Emilia sonchifolia, Tridax procumbens, and Eupatorium odoratum. The calculation of the diversity index showed that the species of the Asteraceae tribe at the observation site had a high diversity of 1.9. Conclusions: The results of this study can provide new knowledge about the plant diversity of the Asteraceae tribe, which readers or researchers can use as a source or reference. The results of this observation can be a different added value for Lake Ranu Gumbolo Tulungagung tourism and become an attraction for tourists.

Abstract

Background: The low scientific literacy of students is caused by the selection of models and learning media that are less varied. This study aims to analyze the effect of the PBL model with digital comics on students’ scientific literacy on environmental pollution material. Methods: This type of research is a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The research sample used classes, namely class VII A and VII F, with 55 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Results: The experimental class's average N-Gain of scientific literacy ability (0.42 ± 0.171) is moderate, while the control class (0.26 ± 0.17) is low. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001 < 0.0, meaning that the PBL model using digital comics model cs influences students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

Background: Fierce competition requires graduate students from IKIP PGRI Pontianak to have pedagogical abilities, soft skills, hard skills, and interpersonal skills that can be used in the world of work. The research will aim to develop Bio-entrepreneurship teaching materials based on Creative Problem Solving to train eco-literation skills. Methods: The research method uses research and development intending to produce a new product that refers to the ADDIE development model, which includes five stages, namely, Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research was carried out in the Biology Education Study Program; before the product was given to experts, researchers tested Bio-entrepreneurship teaching materials based on Creative Problem Solving to train eco-literation skills. Results: The next validation stage will involve material and media experts, and research will involve students taking the Bio-entrepreneurship course in the Biology Education Study Program, which was previously given a pre-test and post-test. The research instruments used are expert validation sheets, product assessments, questionnaires, and eco-literation tests. Data analysis was carried out on the results of expert validation, student responses, and student learning outcomes using SPSS. Bio-entrepreneurship Teaching Materials Based on Creative Problem Solving meet the criteria of validity and practicality based on the results of assessments from media experts and material experts, based on the calculation of N-gains, a value of 61,267 or 61.27% is included in the category of quite effective. Conclusions: Bio-entrepreneurship Teaching Materials Based on Creative Problem Solving meet correct categorizations and are adequate for learning.
