Abstract

Reading is an activity carried out to obtain written information so that the more information we read, the more information and knowledge we have. But unfortunately, the level of interest in reading in Indonesia is still relatively low. This can be seen from the less optimal use of the library by the community. One of the factors causing low interest in reading in Indonesia is inadequate library facilities, incomplete collection of books, and inadequate spatial atmosphere. The interior design of the library is quite important because it will improve the function and aesthetic value which will increase the comfort aspect of its users so that they feel at home in the library for long. Therefore, this study aims to analyze in more detail related to the elements in interior design which consists of 6 elements, namely layout, variation, coloring, air temperature, and lighting. The data collection technique for this research uses qualitative methods, namely by collecting data through literature, observing directly to the field, and analyzing the elements that make up the interior design that creates comfort for users of the Cikini Public Library, Jakarta.

Abstract

Shopping centers are centers of exchange and distribution of goods and services that play an important role in the economic development of a region. This author highlights the role and impact of modern shopping center development on urban development, with a focus on the city of Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. Currently, the city has only one shopping center, Delimas Plaza, which is inadequate to meet the needs of the local community. By considering these conditions, this author proposes the construction of a Shopping Center in Lubuk Pakam by applying a tropical architecture theme. This theme was chosen because it can accommodate the tropical climate and weather in Indonesia. The design of the Shopping Center building is designed with attention to natural lighting and optimal air output. The development of Shopping Center in Lubuk Pakam is expected to have a positive impact on the development of the local economy, such as employment and increased tax revenue. In addition, with a more modern and complete shopping center, it is expected that the local community will no longer need to go to downtown Medan to shop, thus enabling better local economic development and growth.

Abstract

This study explores the application of neo-vernacular architectural concepts to the roof design of the Amorty Billiards Indonesia building in Malang City. Neo-vernacular architecture is included in an approach that blends traditional local characters with modernity, using local materials and culture. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method through direct observation and documentation. The results of this research show that building roofs using clay tiles provide coolness and weather resistance even though they require regular maintenance. The Joglo Lawakan roof shape was chosen to add aesthetic and symbolic value to Javanese culture. This combination creates a classic and modern impression, enriches the aesthetics of the building and supports the preservation of local cultural values. This research concludes that the Implementation of Neo-vernacular architecture on the Amorty Billard roof has a positive impact on the environment and maintains traditional values in a modern architectural context.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with various ethnicities and cultures. Each region of Indonesia has its own culture and uniqueness. As modern times become more modern, many local wisdoms and characteristics are starting to disappear. One way to ensure that local wisdom remains is by implementing neo vernacular architecture. Neo vernacular architecture is a form of applying architectural components to buildings in the form of shapes, structures and/or elements that are not in physical form such as concepts, thought patterns and spatial planning, which has the aim of using local components created from community culture to be futuristic and modern without reducing existing traditional elements. Research was carried out to look for the characteristics of Neo Vernacular Architecture in the cultural park area. The method used is qualitative description, by conducting literature studies and field observations. The place used as the object is the Krida Budaya Park in Lowokwaru District, Malang City. From the observations that have been made, it was found that Taman Krida Budaya applies the concept of neo vernacular architecture in several parts of the building, both in the main building and in supporting buildings.

Abstract

Street children are one of the social welfare problems experienced by children and adults. The phenomenon of street children is still often found in big cities, one of which is the city of Surabaya. The government's efforts in dealing with street children through empowerment/training in halfway houses are quite appropriate. The problem that is often encountered in designing is how to create space, mass order and form that is able to become a user container and is able to support the activities of street children in getting coaching activities, learning, developing interests and talents, and proper protection. The behavioral architecture approach in its application always considers the relationship of behavior in design related to architectural design. Architectural design in mediating the occurrence of behavior or vice versa as a deterrent to behavior. This research aims to determine the application of behavioral architecture approach in UPTD Kampung Anak Negeri based on three principles of behavioral architecture. The research method used is qualitative method with data acquisition through literature study. The results of this study explain the successful application of the behavioral architecture approach and the relationship between human behavior, architectural design and the environment at UPTD Kampung Anak Negeri.

Abstract

Batu City is one of the cities in East Java that has a wealth of tourism so it is not surprising that many accommodation buildings such as villas, hotels, and resorts stand on uneven surfaces because most of the Batu city contours have a slope of 25-40% to more than 40%. The purpose of this research is to find out the planning of the mass arrangement of resort hotels, the influencing aspects, and the ways in which development risks on contoured land can be overcome for the convenience and resilience of the building area. The research method used is descriptive, and data is collected through observation, documentation, and literature study. The object of this research is the Golden Tulip Resort Hotel in Batu City. The results of this study are that the mass arrangement in the building area is influenced by the slope of the land or topography on the site and the achievement of circulation. The placement of the building mass is arranged according to the different elevations on the land and the zone's needs. Although it has contours on the land, the design response given, such as stairs connecting each building, succeeds in providing visitors with comfort in accessing its achievements.

Abstract

In an increasingly advanced era of development, many public buildings are starting to abandon traditional or local elements in their designs. This can lead to cultural extinction or degradation, therefore an approach is needed that can preserve and revive the cultural values of an area. One solution is the Neo Vernacular Architecture approach, which elevates the values of Traditional Architecture into a more modern form. One example of a building that applies Neo Vernacular Architecture is the Batur Geopark Museum. The purpose of this study was to determine the criteria, characteristics, and principles of implementing Neo Vernacular Architecture in the Batur Geopark Museum building. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach, document studies and data analysis, which is in accordance with the criteria, characteristics, and principles of the form of Neo Vernacular Architecture. The results will be arranged in detail so as to obtain an answer that the Batur Geopark Museum applies some of the Neo Vernacular criteria, characteristics and principles in a design.

Abstract

Transportation is an attempt to move people and goods from one place to another. The development of transportation in Indonesia itself is quite good, the various modes of transportation that exist must be accompanied by adequate facilities such as bus terminals. The bus terminal as a control center for bus vehicles certainly requires a large amount of energy to operate. Coupled with the large number of vehicles, the bus terminal has a fairly high air pollution rate. To overcome this problem can be done by implementing green architecture in designing bus terminals. By applying the principles of green architecture according to Brenda and Robert Vale, the problem of energy and air pollution at the terminal can be overcome. One of the terminals that has implemented green architecture is the Joyoboyo Terminal in Surabaya. The purpose of this research is to analyze existing green architecture principles to determine the effectiveness of green architecture in overcoming energy efficiency and air pollution problems at the terminal. Using a descriptive qualitative research method, it was found that the Joyoboyo Terminal building has implemented and integrated the six principles of green architecture according to Brenda and Robert Vale into the building design properly. These six principles alone are able to overcome problems of energy efficiency and air pollution very well so as to provide comfort to building users.
