Abstract

Medan City, the largest capital city on the island of Sumatra, is a metropolitan city with a population of 2.54 million people (16.39% of the total population). Medan has a high population density and continues to increase due to natural growth and urbanization. The population density causes various problems in the city. Population problems in Medan, especially in Kampung Aur, include slum conditions, poor infrastructure, and high poverty rates. Kampung Aur, located in the center of Medan City, faces challenges such as limited access to clean water, poor sanitation, and high population density. This research aims to review slum settlement patterns in Kampung Aur, Medan Maimun, focusing on population factors on the banks of the Deli River. The research was conducted using descriptive qualitative analysis with the method of analyzing the area review.  This research is expected to provide valuable insights for urban and environmental planning. Research outputs on Kampung Aur show linear and cluster settlement patterns, with many residents feeling comfortable living on the banks of the Deli River despite frequent flooding.

Abstract

Children's spatial space is an interaction space for playing and learning which can influence children's knowledge, social and emotional development. Aspects that must be considered in designing children's spatial spaces are safety, flexibility, sensory stimulus, social connectedness, accessibility and learning. In playing, children are free to move to develop their creativity and imagination in developing their knowledge. Children can get to know their space through exploration, interaction and direct experience with the process of recognizing shapes, colors and textures. Children's perceptions of space can shape their patterns and behavior in recognizing space through the process of seeing, observing and exploring space with their imagination and knowledge. The problem that can be developed is how children can recognize their space through the process of recognizing shapes, colors and textures. The goal to be achieved is the formation of children's spatial space through the application of learning room design oriented to shape, color and texture with play and learning methods. Observations were made on children's play activities in utilizing space and then analyzed to determine the space patterns that children needed. Observation results show that children can recognize space by recognizing the shapes, colors and textures found in space. Children's ability to recognize shapes, colors and textures can improve children's imagination and motor skills, literacy skills and emotional control.

Abstract

North Sumatra, whose capital city is Medan, is in the 4th position as the most populous province in Indonesia, which of course will continue to increase over time due to population urbanization activities. Meanwhile, Medan City has increasingly scarce land for development, therefore the government is implementing a development strategy in the Medan City area which has a hierarchy related to the development of Medan City and Population. One of the districts that is related to Medan City is Deli Serdang Regency. Of the several sub-districts in Deli Serdang Regency, Tanjung Morawa Sub-district and its surroundings are the sub-districts that are highly prioritized for development. This design is in line with the one million houses for the people program which is the national residential development agenda listed in the attachment to Presidential Decree No.2 of 2015 concerning the national medium term development plan (RPMJ). Tropical architecture is very suitable for this development because it is considered to provide a positive reaction to weather and climate and can provide comfort to building users.

Abstract

Hospital design plays an important role in improving the recovery of diseases suffered by patients. The healing environment architecture approach is considered capable of supporting the patient's healing process because it has a connection between the environment and the overall architectural design of the building. It is known that the physical and psychological conditions of inpatients tend to be more abnormal than outpatients. On the other hand, medical personnel who work in the inpatient room more often face patient complaints, which increases the potential for stress, heavy saturation, and has an impact on patient decline. Based on this, the researcher examined the relationship between the hospital inpatient room and the concept of healing environment at Wates Husada Gresik Hospital. The purpose of this research is expected to be able to contribute ideas that can be considered in the development of hospital health facility architecture so as to increase the efficiency of patient recovery through healing environment-based health facilities. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and review of observational results and development of analysis from literature studies. The results of this study found that the natural environment and psychological aspects are the main variables in the application of the healing environment of the Wates Husada Gresik Hospital Inpatient so that it is expected to have a positive impact on the psychology of hospitalized patients.

Abstract

Today the development of shopping malls in Indonesia has various concepts that are carried to attract visitors. Beachwalk Shopping Center located in Kuta, Bali is one of the malls that carries the concept of citywalk. The unique shape of the mass of the Beachwalk Shoppping Center building has its own meaning. The shape of the mass order of the building that affects the pattern of spatial order. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of spatial order formed in Beachwalk Shopping Center. This study used an intrepretative qualitative approach with descriptive data presentation. The finding in this study is that the shape of the mass organically forms a curved linear space organization with the outdoor area as the center, forming a linear path configuration. The linear path configuration applied by the mall is very effective to make visitors surround all parts of the mall. But at some point the branching can confuse visitors who are not familiar with the spatial arrangement of the mall.

Abstract

In every child's developmental process, parents must consistently accompany and support them for optimal growth. However, with the changing times, many mothers are now compelled to work outside the home to meet family needs. The phenomenon of mothers working outside the home can have detrimental effects on the family, especially children in their crucial developmental phase from ages 0 to 6. In response to this concern, there is a need for childcare and schools that provide an environment tailored to children's needs, helping to stimulate their brains. Olifant School is an educational and childcare service that focuses on sensory-based child stimulation. This research aims to assess the extent to which the Olifant School building applies architecture and human senses, particularly in the aspects of vision and touch. The method used is library research in the form of literature studies from various sources which are then explained according to existing parameters, which are then analyzed according to existing parameters to draw conclusions. The results of this study indicate that Olifant School in Yogyakarta is one of the structures built based on human senses, specifically vision and touch.
