Abstract

This study discusses the comparison of the Cost Budget Plan (RAB) for the construction of a type 36 house with two different concepts, namely the conventional concept and the Gold-rated GREENSHIP Home concept. The conventional concept refers to traditional construction methods with standard materials, while the Gold-rated GREENSHIP Home concept integrates environmentally friendly principles in design and construction, including energy efficiency, use of environmentally friendly materials, and good water management. This study aims to analyze the cost differences between the two concepts and to evaluate the long-term benefits related to energy efficiency and sustainability. The results of the study indicate that although the initial cost of construction with the GREENSHIP concept is higher, energy savings and reduction of environmental impacts in the long term provide significant economic benefits. This study provides important insights for developers and prospective homeowners to consider implementing the GREENSHIP concept in housing development planning.

Abstract

This study aims to design an integrated school encompassing Kindergarten, Elementary School, Junior High School, and Senior High School levels in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, using a behavioral architecture approach. This approach focuses on optimizing the physical school environment to support positive behavior, social interaction, and more effective teaching and learning processes. The research methodology includes literature studies, field observations, and interviews with relevant stakeholders. The findings reveal that the current layouts of schools in the area are not well-integrated, hindering collaboration among students, teachers, and staff, and inadequately supporting learning activities. The design considers psychological and social factors that influence the learning process, emphasizing open, flexible, and adaptive spaces to facilitate social interaction, collaboration, and active learning. Key features include flexible classrooms, centralized communal areas, safe pedestrian pathways, and adequate access between school levels to ease student transitions. The implementation of this design is expected to create a more inclusive and interactive learning environment, ultimately enhancing student engagement, academic performance, and overall well-being. This research contributes to the development of educational architecture, particularly in designing behavior-based integrated school environments in urban areas.

Abstract

Consideration of the use of the atrium and efforts to reduce room cooling energy were taken into consideration in the design process for the building for the faculty of technology and the department of civil engineering – UAJY. The performance study was carried out using a literature study and simulation approach to be taken into consideration in making design decisions. The atrium design study was carried out on two options, namely designs without and using an atrium. The study was conducted to see the role of the use of the atrium in optimizing natural lighting and fire smoke removal. Façade studies were carried out on four design options to see the performance of each option. Maximum use of the atrium has a positive impact on room lighting and room heat dissipation. The use of a sloping roof on the side where the wind comes from has a positive impact on the efforts to dissipate heat and smoke in the room. The use of a rectangular atrium also functions better in exhausting smoke compared to a box-shaped atrium. Four shading design models have been tested on building façade designs. These four models have a positive impact on reducing space cooling loads. However, a model with minimum performance was chosen, namely a combination of conventional shading with external horizontal blinds, but it is more efficient in terms of the use of materials, costs and building structure, and looks lighter visually.

Abstract

Increasing age in the elderly is often accompanied by various multidimensional challenges that include physical, psychological and social aspects, thus having the potential to significantly reduce their quality of life. In line with increasing life expectancy and the increasing elderly population, modern life which increasingly emphasizes independence and individualism triggers social trends that can worsen the conditions of the elderly, such as increasing the risk of social isolation, alienation and reducing their role and involvement in the community. This phenomenon demands an environmental design strategy that not only provides elderly-friendly facilities, but is also able to accommodate the needs of the elderly holistically. The Elderly Community Hub concept with a Salutogenic Architecture approach was developed as a response to this challenge, with the aim of creating an environment that actively supports the physical, mental and social health of elderly people through design oriented towards improving the quality of life. This design is designed to integrate elements of health, social interaction and recreational activities in a sustainable manner, so as to be able to build an inclusive ecosystem that empowers the elderly in social life.

Abstract

Public awareness of pet welfare has experienced significant development in recent decades, along with the increasing number of people adopting and keeping animals. With this increase, awareness of pet hygiene is increasing. This situation gives rise to an urgent need for professional and comprehensive care services. The goal of this plan is to design a building design that focuses on the welfare of pets and their owners. This research applies qualitative-descriptive methods. This Pet Care Center is a facility that has health, care and day care facilities for pets. Apart from that, it also functions as an information center, recreation area, and also as a place for interaction between fellow animal lovers in Pekanbaru City. The concept of planning this Pet Care Center is to use "Biophilic Architecture", a concept that prioritizes animal integration and welfare in the space. It is hoped that the design of this Pet Care Center can provide education to owners about how to care for animals, understand animal behavior and also about animal health problems.

Abstract

The primary function of residential spaces is to ensure occupant comfort, with thermal conditions playing a key role. Thermal comfort is achieved when body temperature balances with the surrounding environment, influenced mainly by temperature and humidity. This study examines the impact of building orientation on thermal comfort, particularly temperature and humidity, based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI). A quantitative method was used, combining field measurements and ANSYS 2021 R2 simulations. The study focused on four rental apartment (Rusunawa) units in Keudah, Banda Aceh, with different orientations. Measurements were taken over three consecutive days in March 2024, recording indoor temperature and humidity. Results show that building orientation does not significantly affect thermal conditions. The lowest recorded temperature was 28ºC in Block D (east-oriented), while the least comfortable unit had the highest temperature of 35.5ºC in Block B (west-oriented). The lowest humidity (66.2%) was recorded in Block C, while the highest (85%) was found in Blocks B and D.

Abstract

Students in Indonesia currently spend up to 8 hours a day in the school environment to attend teaching and learning activities. This time is certainly not a short time especially since most of the activities are carried out in the classroom. This of course can cause boredom and even complaints of Sick Building Syndrome. Some of the causes of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) are due to the poor quality of lighting and natural ventilation in the building and have not met the requirements of healthy air. School is one of the buildings that need to be considered in a design, especially classrooms for the learning comfort of students who spend most of their time at school. This research uses descriptive-quantitative method by collecting data in the form of observation through observation and distribution of questionnaires and architectural literature used from related sources. The object of this research is SMP Negeri 1 Cilacap School, starting with identifying the characteristics of the subject and the symptoms of Sick Building Syndrome and continuing with the test of the environmental conditions of the learning place by analyzing the size of the room, building orientation, temperature, humidity, wind speed related to natural lighting and ventilation to create a comfortable and adequate learning space for learning. The results showed that the variables of room size, temperature and wind speed were in accordance with the subject data while building orientation and humidity were not in line with the test results of the subjects of each class.

Abstract

The development of the retail industry in Indonesia is experiencing rapid development, for example a large company in the retail sector which already has branch stores throughout Indonesia, namely PT. Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk or what we often call Alfamart. Buyer comfort is the main focus in services at minimarkets, one of which is the convenience of circulation in minimarkets. This research exists because some visitors to minimarkets feel uncomfortable with the wide circulation provided by the store, especially in the area between the shelves of the products being sold. The method used is qualitative observation, where the data obtained is taken from the observation process which is presented in detail. The data analysis process will be supported by literature insights from books, journals and Alfamart Company data. The formulation of the problem from this research is that visitors feel that the space between the shelves for circulation is too narrow when picking up the product they want to buy. The purpose of this research is to determine the spatial arrangement at Alfamart Drive Thru Gading Serpong and whether the circulation of users in the store meets comfort standards for users inside.
