Abstract

Tuberculous (TB) spondylitis, often referred to as Pott's illness, this infectious condition affects the spine and is brought on by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This literature review aims to increase information and knowledge related to TB spondylitis. The research method used is a type of literature review that discusses the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, classification, risk factors, diagnosis, management, complications and prognosis of TB spondylitis. Data sources were retrieved through online databases that included literature reviews, research studies, and professional guidebooks over the past ten years related to this topic on library search sites such as Pubmed and Google Scholar. The search results were then reviewed to obtain literature relevant to the study objectives. TB spondylitis occurs in approximately 2% of all TB cases and 15% of all extrapulmonary TB cases, mostly affecting children and people with immunodeficiency due to HIV co-infection. The disease can be classified based on the Gülhane Askeri Tɪp Akademisi (GATA) and the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA). The approach to the diagnosis of TB spondylitis is not only through history taking, clinical manifestations, and neurological examination, but also includes laboratory examination, radiological examination, and tissue samples examination. The management of TB spondylitis is generally divided into two types that can run simultaneously, namely medicamentosa (main) and surgery (complementary and adjusting the patient's condition). The disease can cause severe neurological symptoms and reduce the patient's quality of life, so early diagnosis and monitoring are necessary to avoid serious complications such as limb paralysis.

Abstract

Red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is a high nutritional value vegetable that is increasingly in demand in Indonesia. Hydroponics is an innovative solution to overcome land limitations, but the efficiency of nutrient delivery in manual methods is still a challenge. This study aims to compare the growth of red spinach in the NPK sensor-based hydroponic system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) with the manual method. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two treatments, namely the use of IoT-based NPK sensors and manual methods, each with two replications and nine samples per replication. The results showed that the use of IoT sensors significantly increased plant height (37.9 cm), leaf area (245.5 cm²), wet weight (9.3 g), and dry weight (1.6 g) compared to the manual method. Statistical analysis using an unpaired t-test at the 5% real level showed significant differences in most growth parameters. IoT technology is proven to be effective in increasing the efficiency and productivity of hydroponic systems by providing real-time nutrition according to plant needs. This research supports the development of IoT technology for sustainable agriculture, while having a positive impact on production efficiency and resource savings.

Abstract

Demand for soybeans in Indonesia continues to increase along with population growth, but productivity remains low and dependent on imports. One of the key factors affecting soybean productivity is seed quality, which often deteriorates during storage. Seed invigoration, which includes techniques such as hydration-dehydration, hydropriming, and osmopriming, is a possible solution to improve soybean seed viability and vigor. This research used the literature survey method to collect and analyze data from various scientific sources. The results show that seed invigoration can improve the quality of soybean seeds by improving the germination process, increasing vigor, and optimizing water uptake. These techniques are especially important when seeds are sown in non-ideal conditions, such as arid or high salinity areas. Thus, the application of invigoration techniques has the potential to be an effective strategy for increasing soybean productivity in Indonesia and reducing import dependence.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food for Indonesians and plays a vital role in the country's economy. To increase rice production, intensification methods, including the use of fertilizers, are crucial. However, overuse of chemical fertilizers can damage soil structure and reduce microbial diversity. Organic fertilizers and biofertilizers, such as Trichoderma asperellum, have emerged as sustainable alternatives to chemical fertilizers due to their ability to produce growth-promoting hormones. This study investigates the effect of adding ecoenzyme to black glutinous rice-based Trichoderma asperellum formulas on the root length of Bujang Marantau rice variety seedlings. Using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and five replicates, root growth was observed under varying concentrations of ecoenzyme (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%). Results show that a 20% ecoenzyme concentration enhanced root length compared to the control. Higher concentrations, however, exhibited diminishing effects due to potential nutrient imbalances. The findings underscore the potential of ecoenzyme-enhanced Trichoderma asperellum formulations for sustainable agriculture.
