Abstract

This study aims to analyze the paradigm of Muhammadiyah's progressive Islamic education from a philosophical perspective, analyze the concept of tajdid in Muhammadiyah education as a foundation for social transformation, and identify the relevance of the paradigm of Muhammadiyah's progressive Islamic education in facing educational challenges in the era of disruption and modernization. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research. Data sources are obtained from official Muhammadiyah documents, works of Muhammadiyah figures, books, and scientific journal articles relevant to Islamic education, tajdid, and social transformation. Data analysis is carried out using content analysis techniques and a philosophical hermeneutic approach to understand the ontological, epistemological, and axiological constructions of Muhammadiyah's progressive Islamic education paradigm. The results show that Muhammadiyah's progressive Islamic education is an educational paradigm that integrates the values of monotheism, science, modernity, and orientation to social change in a holistic educational system. The concept of tajdid is not only interpreted as a purification of Islamic teachings, but also a renewal of thought and an educational system that is adaptive to the development of the times. This paradigm is relevant in addressing contemporary educational challenges such as technological disruption, moral crisis, and globalization through strengthening digital literacy, religious moderation, and developing a progressive and humanistic Islamic character. Thus, Muhammadiyah's progressive Islamic education is a model of contemporary Islamic education that is transformative, inclusive, and oriented toward the advancement of civilization.

Abstract

The artificial intelligence (AI) revolution presents urgent epistemological and ethical challenges to the Islamic science paradigm. This study aims to analyze the Qur'anic paradigm of 'ilm and its critical response to artificial intelligence, analyze the concept of human in the Qur'an towards artificial intelligence, and analyze the Qur'anic framework of moral responsibility as a normative basis for the use of artificial intelligence. The study uses a library research approach with a qualitative-descriptive analytical design, integrating content analysis and critical discourse analysis, and the maudhu'i interpretation method as a hermeneutical framework. Primary sources include the Qur'an, the book of tafsir Al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab, while secondary sources include academic literature indexed by Scopus, Web of Science, and the journal Sinta published in 2020-2025. The results show three main findings: first, the Qur'anic 'ilm paradigm positions AI only as an auxiliary instrument that is unable to reach the dimensions of hikmah, qalb, and ilmu ladunni. Second, the uniqueness of humans as al-insan, khalifah fi al-ardh, and 'abd Allah is ontological and irreducible to algorithmic systems. Third, the Qur'an provides a comprehensive normative framework for the use of AI through the principles of tawhid, 'adl, amanah, maslahah, shura, and reckoning. This research contributes to filling the academic gap by offering an integrative Qur'anic paradigm as an epistemological alternative in the global AI ethics discourse, which has been dominated by secular perspectives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of current socio-religious issues relevant for integration into Islamic religious education materials, the process of contextualizing Islamic Religious Education materials with current socio-religious issues in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, identifying strategies used by teachers in integrating Islamic Religious Education materials with contemporary socio-religious issues and the challenges faced by teachers in implementing contextualization of Islamic Religious Education materials with current socio-religious issues. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research through the analysis of various relevant scientific literature. The results of the study indicate that the characteristics of socio-religious issues are dynamic, contextual, and close to the lives of students, making it important to integrate them into learning. Teacher strategies in integrating Islamic Religious Education materials with contemporary socio-religious issues emphasize contextual, reflective learning. Teachers use various strategies such as contextual, problem-based learning, discussion, and the use of digital media. The contextualization process is carried out through systematic stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. Challenges faced by teachers are limited teacher competence, limited learning resources, and sensitivity to religious issues. Strengthening teacher capacity and developing an adaptive curriculum are needed.

Abstract

The existence of Circular Letter (SE) of the Regent of Jember No. 474/196/35.09.317/2024 concerning the service for marriage dispensation applications is formulated as a strategic response to the high number of such applications an the absence of regional regulations, while also examining the effectiveness of its implementation in the Silo District. This study employs a field research method with a juridical-empirical approach, with data collected through interviews, obsevations and document studies. The findings reveal that the implementation of this Cilcular Letter has transformed the procedure for marriage dispensation applications into a multi-layered bureaucracy requiring cross-sectoral recommendations, including medical, psychological, and premarital educational aspects. Quantitatively, this administrative tightening has proven successful in significantly reducing the number of applications submitted to official authorities. However, the analysis also uncovers a sociological paradox, the high costs an procedural complexity have driven the community in Silo District to exploit legal loopholes by resorting to unregistered (sirri) marriages. This resistance is rooted in strong local traditions and limited legal literacy among the community. In conclusion, while the tightening policy is administratively effective in filtering applications, it has not yet addressed the core cultural issues. Therefore, a harmonization between bureauctratic regulatory enforcement and socio-cultural educational approaches is required to significantly break the chain of child marriage.

Abstract

Improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of the deep learning approach is considered a viable and appropriate strategy for enhancing cognitive learning outcomes in the Integrated Science subject. In its implementation, the deep learning approach must encompass the three core principles of deep learning mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning which are fully aligned with the direction of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study employs a classroom action research design with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research was conducted at Ahmad Dahlan Integrated Islamic Elementary School in Jambi City, with 24 fifth-grade students as the research subjects. The findings indicate that the deep learning approach can improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes. Student activity scores increased from an average of 58% in Cycle I to 85% in Cycle II. Meanwhile, improvements in students’ cognitive learning outcomes were observed, with an average score of 68.3 in the pre-cycle, increasing to 72.5 in Cycle I, and continuing to rise to 93.4 at the end of Cycle II. It can be concluded that the deep learning approach can be used as an alternative to improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes in IPAS instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of parental literacy in shaping students’ character at MIN 3 Sumenep and to identify the obstacles faced in its implementation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of parents, teachers, and school stakeholders. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that parental literacy was carried out through role modeling, learning assistance, motivation, reading habituation, and the inculcation of religious values within the family environment. These roles contributed to shaping students’ discipline, responsibility, religiosity, honesty, and social care. The obstacles encountered included parents’ limited time, diverse educational backgrounds, family economic conditions, and the low awareness of some parents regarding the importance of literacy. This study confirms that strengthening family literacy culture and synergy between schools and parents are highly necessary to support optimal student character development.

Abstract

This study examines the changing role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the digital era, particularly in terms of how they manage learning resources and the skills needed for teaching in the 21st century. The research method used is library research with a qualitative approach. The groups studied include various types of scientific writings, such as national journals and indexed academic books, and the data collection method involves observation and analysis of the contents of these sources. This study shows that the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers has changed from being the main source of information where the teacher is in the middle (Teacher Centered), to being more flexible as a director who supports student-centered learning (Student Centered) and is able to keep up with new technological developments. Using digital learning tools such as e-books, video lessons, and digital platforms can help students be more motivated in learning and improve their ability to learn independently. In addition, 21st-century skills such as understanding how to use digital tools, being proficient in using technology with the TPACK method, and having the 4C abilities of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication, are very important to improve the effectiveness of PAI learning. However, several challenges remain, such as differences in people's ability to access technology, doubts about the accuracy of religious information, and a lack of available support facilities. Teachers must continually improve their skills to maximize the use of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lessons in today's digital world.

Abstract

The School Operational Assistance Fund (BOS) is a government policy instrument designed to support improvements in the quality of education, including teacher competency development. In practice, BOS Fund management in madrasas is often more oriented toward administrative compliance than its strategic role in human resource development. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of BOS Fund use in improving the competency of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at MTsS Al-Ihsan I Pragaan and MTsS Raudlatul Ulum Kapedi. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies with madrasah principals, BOS Fund treasurers, PAI teachers, and other relevant parties. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques, while data analysis was conducted interactively through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the use of BOS Funds in both madrasas complies with the BOS Technical Guidelines (Juknis BOS) and is administratively effective. However, planning remains administrative in nature, PAI teacher participation is not yet strategic, competency needs identification is not systematic, and program evaluation has not been utilized as a basis for further planning. The program's impact on Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher competency is partial and uneven. This study concludes that the BOS Fund in both madrasas has not fully functioned as a strategic instrument for developing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher competency. Strengthening the quality orientation in planning, implementation, and evaluation is needed to ensure that the BOS Fund contributes more optimally to improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media usage on the marital harmony of married students at the Sekolah Tinggi Dirasat Islamiyah Imam Syafi'i (STDIIS) Jember from the perspective of Islamic Family Law (Fiqh al-Usrah). The research method employed is a qualitative case study design with an Islamic legal sociology approach. Primary data were gathered from 30 married student respondents through structured online questionnaires. The findings reveal that social media usage exerts an ambivalent impact; it serves as a vital supportive tool for 36.7% of couples in Long Distance Marriages (LDM), yet concurrently triggers domestic friction such as phubbing (33.3%), digital jealousy (33.3%), and neglect of domestic responsibilities (30%). Normatively, phubbing is classified as a form of taqshir (negligence) regarding the partner's intrinsic rights, while digital jealousy is mitigated through the principle of Sadd al-Dhari’ah via device password disclosure (60%). Despite these frictions, respondents demonstrate a high level of digital maturity by consistently choosing conflict resolution through tabayyun and private deliberation to protect Hifz al-Irdh (family honor) rather than engaging in destructive cyber-venting behavior.
