Focus of al-Afkar, Journal for Islamic Studies is on publishing original empirical research articles and theoretical reviews of Islamic Studies, it covers various issues on the Islamic studies within such number of fields as Islamic Education, Islamic thought, Islamic law, political Islam, and Islamic economics from social and cultural perspectives and content analysis from al-Qur’an and Hadist. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of Islamic education during the Abbasid Dynasty, known as the Golden Age of Islam, and its role in shaping world civilization. This study focuses on the structure and methods of education, the contribution of institutions such as maktabs, madrasas, and Bait al-Hikmah, influential scholars, and their influence on society. This study uses a library research methodology. Data were collected through the analysis of primary sources, including the works of scientists in the Abbasid era, as well as secondary sources in the form of history books and studies related to the development of Islamic education. The results revealed that Islamic education during the Abbasid Dynasty experienced rapid development through the establishment of formal educational institutions, the application of innovative teaching methods such as the diploma system, as well as the contribution of renowned scientists such as Al-Kindi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Khwarizmi. These advancements led to major impacts, such as an increase in literacy levels, the integration of religious and secular sciences, and the transfer of knowledge to other civilizations, including Europe. This finding confirms the crucial role of the Abbasid Dynasty in building the foundation of Islamic intellectual civilization that is influential to this day.

Abstract

This study was intended to depict what the role of education is in overcoming islamophobia in muslim communities by increasing awareness, critical thinking, and tolerance. There are two main reasons for this study, (a) media has become a boomerang in islamophobia, (b) lack of public awareness in digesting messages through social media so that it causes discrimination, prejudice, and hostility. This study was phenomenology approach of qualitative study. The findings reveal; (1) Education can create people more critical. (2) Institutions and schools can reduce bias and stereotypes through an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes human values. (3) Education can humanize humans. Further, islamophobia occurs in our society due to the fact that they consume information directly without re-checking whether the information is true or false. It can be conclude that the media as a power is also often a fire that makes people confused about which side they should consider right, therefore through education, the community can be invited to think critically.

Abstract

Islam offers a profound ethical framework for addressing the global environmental crisis through its core values of tauhid (divine unity), khalifah (stewardship), and maslahah (public welfare). This study examines how these Islamic principles guide ecological conservation and promote sustainable practices grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah. By conducting a thematic literature review of classical Islamic texts and contemporary scholarship, the research highlights the religion’s emphasis on maintaining mizan (natural balance) and condemning israf (wastefulness). The findings reveal that Islamic teachings position environmental preservation as both a spiritual duty and a communal responsibility, urging moderation in resource use and advocating for justice in ecological interactions. Examples such as Indonesia’s green waqf initiatives and Morocco’s renewable energy projects illustrate the practical application of these values in modern sustainability efforts. However, challenges such as consumerism and lack of religiously-grounded environmental awareness hinder progress. The study concludes that integrating Islamic ethics into education, policy, and grassroots activism can empower Muslim communities to lead in global conservation. By framing environmentalism as worship, Islam provides a holistic paradigm for harmonizing human needs with planetary health, aligning with its vision of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (mercy to all creation).

Abstract

Learning maharah kalam (speaking skills) in Arabic requires methods that are able to create a fun, interactive, and able to arouse students' enthusiasm to actively communicate. This study aims to describe the strategy of applying the Quantum Learning method in maharah kalam learning activities in the Aidina Class, Ocean Arabic Pare Kediri Students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the Quantum Learning strategy is applied through several stages such as Prime, Experience, Label, Demonstrate, Review, and Celebrate. This strategy creates fun learning, increases students' confidence in speaking Arabic, and makes the learning process more meaningful. However, several challenges are still faced, such as the need for teachers' creativity and the limitations of learning media.

Abstract

The global economic and financial crisis has shown negative impacts on both humans and the environment. Green growth has become a solution proposed by the OECD to create sustainable development by integrating resource efficiency and environmental impact reduction. In Indonesia, despite rapid economic development, there is often an imbalance with environmental preservation. The concepts of Green Economy and Circular Economy offer more inclusive and sustainable approaches to address these issues. From an Islamic perspective, the principles of Fiqh Al-Bi'ah and maqashid sharia can strengthen the implementation of these concepts to maintain a balance between the economy and the environment. This research uses the library research method by collecting, analyzing, and organizing information from relevant literature such as books, scientific journals, articles, and reports related to sustainability and green economy. The sources obtained were then evaluated for their credibility to delve into the relationship between Green Economy, Circular Economy, and Islamic principles in environmental management, particularly in the rice milling industry. This study found that the implementation of the Green Economy and Circular Economy concepts has the potential to reduce environmental impacts in Indonesia, especially in the rice milling industry. However, the main challenges are inadequate infrastructure and a lack of public awareness. The integration of Islamic principles, such as Fiqh Al-Bi'ah and maqashid sharia, can strengthen the sustainability of green economy implementation by emphasizing the balance between economic growth and environmental preservation.

Abstract

This research is analyzing the phenomenon of Korean’s cancel culture that applied in Indonesia for the film adaptation of 'A Business Proposal' (2025) which caused the failure of this film since the first day of airing. This study aims to examine the causes and implementation of cancel culture in X which has an impact on Indonesian films. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method of cancel culture for the film adaptation of A Business Proposal. Data collection techniques carried by documenting netizen opinions from X, observation, and literature studies. This research refers to Social Control Theory. This research results that cancel culture is carried out because the actors don't study the original characters, statements of fanatic fans, Abidzar claimed to receive racist treatment, don't mind about netizen comments, Abidzar and Ariel said 'don't watch the film', Caitlin's wrong statement. Cancel culture in social media X are carried out by announcement at the big community in X, tracing Abidzar's background as a son of Indonesia’s great Ustaz, stating cancel to large X’s accounts, reporting empty seats in several cinemas, stating cancel with making jokes and memes.

Abstract

Character education in the era of Globalization faces various complex and dynamic challenges. Rapid technological advances make children spend more time in cyberspace such as playing games and playing social media than opening learning sites and studying teaching materials. In this study, the method used is a qualitative descriptive method with Library Research. The results of the study show that there are several challenges to character education in the era of Globalization, including; gaps in access to technology, the influence of social media, and changes in learning patterns, morality, and lack of supervision. In overcoming these challenges, an efficient strategy is needed.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of school principals in curriculum development at SMP Islam Ar Roudhoh. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving the principal and several teachers. The findings reveal that effective leadership, characterized by participatory practices, significantly enhances teacher collaboration and curriculum innovation. The principal's support in integrating technology into the curriculum further contributes to improved educational quality. The study concludes that a principal's active involvement in curriculum development not only fosters a positive school environment but also addresses the challenges teachers face, ultimately leading to better educational outcomes. These insights underscore the importance of strong leadership in educational settings and provide a framework for enhancing curriculum practices in Islamic schools.

Abstract

Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) plays a crucial role in shaping children's character from an early age. One of the methods that can be applied in Islamic learning is the Islamic singing method. This method utilizes songs with lyrics containing Islamic teachings, such as tauhid, noble morals, and daily prayers. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Islamic singing method in instilling a love for Islam in early childhood at TK IT Al-Fikri, Koto RajaThis research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers and parents, and documentation of learning activities. The findings indicate that the Islamic singing method helps children easily understand Islamic concepts and increases their interest in religious learning. Additionally, this method creates an enjoyable learning atmosphere, enhances children's memory, and strengthens their Islamic character. In conclusion, the Islamic singing method is an effective learning strategy for instilling Islamic values in early childhood. Proper implementation can foster children's love for Islam and help them grow into individuals with noble character in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Parenting style is a key factor influencing child development, particularly during early childhood. This study aims to explore the impact of inconsistent parenting on the socio-emotional development of young children at TKN 1 Bandar Laksamana. The findings indicate that inconsistency in the application of discipline and rules at home creates confusion for children, leading to heightened anxiety, difficulties in emotional regulation, and poor social skills. Children raised in inconsistent environments tend to struggle to form healthy relationships with peers and adults, and often exhibit withdrawn or aggressive behaviors. The study also highlights the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers in supporting child development, as well as the need for educational programs to raise parental awareness regarding the importance of consistency in parenting. Ultimately, it is hoped that children can grow up in a stable and supportive environment that enables them to reach their full potential in both social and academic spheres.
