Abstract

Taboo is the prohibition or avoidance in any society of behavior believed to be harmful to its members in that it would cause them anxiety, embarrassment, or shame. Quentin Tarantino is one of the most well-known and respected directors of Hollywood films. He is also well known for creating films that are violent and vulgar. This research purpose is to analyze the use of ten popular swear words mentioned by Jay (2009) in ten films directed and written by Quentin Tarantino from Reservoir Dogs to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. As a comparison, the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) will be used to determine whether it has the same trends throughout the years. By using LancsBox to find the frequencies of the swear words, it is found that there are in total 1316 frequencies of nine swear words across the ten films. While the COCA graph tends to show significant growth in the use of swear words, in the Quentin Tarantino corpus it is shown that the graph tends to be unstable and has some significant decreases throughout the years. Abstract

The diversity of calendar characters in the Indonesian Muslim community is very close to the entry of Islam to the archipelago. This assumption is clearly based on the condition in which the community is still very strong in maintaining the customs and traditions related to the religious and Sufistic patterns of the tarekat. The problem being studied is how the form, meaning and function of the calendar calendar used in religious traditions in Pelauw. The purpose of this research is to describe the form, meaning, and function of the calendar calendar in Pelauw. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, field notes and documentation. Based on the research results it was found that the Takwin Jum'atiyah number used Hisab Urfi. The first year in the Hijriyah Hatuhaha calendar is the year Alif 1 where 1 Muharram falls on a Friday so it is called Bilangan Jum'atiyah. Implementation of the Calendar Calendar related to religious traditions and rituals in Pelauw, the Ma'atenu [cakalel dance, Aroha [celebration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, and Ma'amara Tenuno.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan, yaitu (1) mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam hikayat arabia abad pertengahan edisi 1, dan (2) mendeskripsikan implementasi niilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam hikayat arabia abad pertengahan edisi 1 terhadap pembelajaran sastra. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil kajian ini adalah (1) nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam hikayat arabia abad pertengahan edisi 1, dan (2) implementasi nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam hikayat arabia abad pertengahan edisi 1 terhadap pembelajaran sastra yang dibedakan menjadi tiga hal, yaitu (1) apresiasi sastra, (2) kreatif sastra, dan (3) ekspresif sastra. Membaca hikayat Arabia abad pertengahan edisi pertama menuntun kita ke gerbang dunia yang berbeda dalam bahasa dan ide-ide yang luar biasa. Abstract

Bahasa adalah alat komunikasi yang efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan dari pembicara kepada pendengar. Bahasa berperan dalam setiap tuturan termasuk tuturan pada film pendek di youtube, tindak tutur ekspresif menjadi salah satunya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan jenis tindak tutur ekspresif bahasa melayu dialek pontianak yang di tuturkan dalam film pendek di salah satu akun youtube berupa memuji, mengucapkan terima kasih, mengucapkan selamat, mengkritik, meminta maaf. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa film pendek berjudul Pengabdi Ghibah di channel youtube Kamil Onte Official. Tahap pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan teknik catat. Analisis data menggunakan kajian pragmatik dengan melihat tuturan pada film pendek berjudul Pengabdi Ghibah, kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori tindak tutur menurut Rahayu (2012). Hasil penelitian berupa tindak tutur ekspresif memuji, mengucapkan selamat, berterima kasih, meminta maaf, mengkritik.

Abstract

Hikayat Raja Nadhir Syah is an ancient manuscript that is stored in the collection of the French National Library with the code Malayo Polynesian 62. This manuscript contains the story of the leadership of a great king. Leadership is the main key in running the wheels of government well. Ironically, Indonesia, which has been independent for 76 years, is currently facing an acute leadership crisis. Therefore, the study of the manuscript entitled Hikayat Raja Nadhir Syah is urgent. The method used in this research is qualitative. In addition, to get good and correct edits, the critical edition method is used. Then the edits are analyzed using a semiotic approach. The results of the analysis show that there are many uses of symbols contained in the Hikayat Raja Nadhir Syah text. Therefore, the disclosure of the meaning of these symbols can be used as a source of inspiration for solving the leadership crisis in this country. Abstract

This study aims to determine and understand the existence of the Widal language in the Tipar Sukabumi community, West Java Province. This study used qualitative research methods. data obtained based on observations, interviews, and documentation. The location of the research was carried out in Sukabumi City, precisely in Tipar Sukabumi District, West Java Province. Determination of informants using purposive sampling, namely by interviewing informants who know and understand clearly the problems being studied. The results show that the existence of the Widal language in the Tipar community is still maintained until now thanks to the cooperation and cohesiveness that has been built in the Tipar community in maintaining the preservation of the language. Abstract

This study explores the communication of imagination in the film Nussa (2021). Using an imagination approach in discourse and action (Riceour 1993), this study reveals several aspects and the strategies of imagination of communication in children's films. In addition, the psychoanalytic approach (Freud, 1919, 1971, 1927) also become the basis in analyzing  The communication of imagination because it is related to the human subconscious. The research method applied narrative analysis with a topic and visual approach. This study finds that aspects of imagination communication in the film Nussa are innovation, dreams, and complementary and inseparable ambitions . Then, the strategy of communication of imagination are the construction of identity, the encouragement of competition, the exemplarity and family support. The value and essential lesson about the communication of imagination is to be confident in yourself and optimistic about the future. Keywords: Communication, imagination, Nussa

Abstract

The focus of this research is on exploring the concept of the relationality of the Manggaraian people in the terminology of Hae Reba in the light of Gabriel Marcel's philosophy. Therefore, this study aims to make the concept of Hae Reba relationality a beautiful philosophical point for the rationality of the Indonesian nation. The method used in this research is interviews and literature studies which are carried out from a phenomenological perspective. This study found that the terminology of hae Reba contains the concepts of the relationality of the Manggaraian people in living together. Therefore, if the concept of relationality is dialogued with the concept of intersubjectivity of Gabriel Marcel, it will become a beautiful philosophical presentation of the rationality of the Indonesian nation. Abstract

This research describes the style of Sujiwo Tejo in the Dwilogy of the novel Rahvayana. The stile phenomenon used by Sujiwo Tejo in the Dwilogy of the novel Rahayana creates special effects and becomes an attraction for further study. The Sujiwo Tejo style was studied using a genetic stylistic approach. In addition, stylistics has a specialty used to reveal the author's ideology from the language he conducts. The purpose of this research studies the elements of action, such as the figure of the speech and imagery; the content or ideology of the author, such as biography, socio-historical author, and the sociocultural conditions of the community when it had written; the use of research results as an alternative learning material for appreciation literature in high school. This descriptive research uses a design of the genetic stylistic approach. The data in this study are the quotes from the Rahvayana Dwilogy, various references related to the ideology of Sujiwo Tejo, and the syllabus of the seventh class of the high school. The data analysis technique used is the genetic stylistic analysis technique. The result indicates (1) the dictions are dominantly vulgar and the absorption words as a means to convey various expressions; (2) the figure of speech used by Sujiwo Tejo in the Dwilogy in the novel Rahvayana dominantly uses comparison and contrast, (3) the figure of speech used by Sujiwo Tejo to create an aesthetic effect; (4) the imagery used by Sujiwo Tejo in the Dwilogy of the novel Rahvayana is dominant with intellectual imagery; (5) The ideology of Sujiwo Tejo in the Dwilogy of the novel Rahvayana which viewed from the biographical, socio-historical, and sociocultural conditions of the community reflects the ideology of siding with the character Ravana. Abstract

This ethnolinguistic qualitative research aims to identify the lexicon of traditional paddy varieties and the lexicon of rice growth in the context of the Agraria culture of the Sundanese people. The Data collection involved seven local farmers in West Bandung Regency, West Java. The selection of research informants used a purposive sampling method. This research used a semantic field analysis approach with the perspective of linguistic relativity. The direct element division technique (BUL) and method distributional analyze these lexicons as the unit lingual. The study finds that local farmers classified paddy varieties into four groups of semantic fields, namely (1) pare ageung 'tall rice' (2) pare pendek 'short rice' (3) pare pusaka ''rice heirloom', (4) and pare ketan 'sticky rice '. The pattern of contiguity relations is more suitable to describe the relationship of meanings of the lexicon of traditional rice varieties in Sundanese culture. The close-meaning relationships have marked relationship patterns but have different features from one other. There were 17 lexicon names for traditional paddy varieties and one lexicon for naming hybrid rice varieties, with a local name called padi inul. Then, there were ten lexicons of paddies growth that described the process of rice growth. This study shows its relevance to the theory of linguistic relativity or the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis.
