Students can  do various types of activities at school, such as : reading, writing, taking notes, asking questions, practicing, and expressing opinions. However, some schools administer the morning session and others administer the afternoon session. This study aimed to describe differences on the students’ learning activities at grade IV SD Negeri 147 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted through a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation while the techniques of data analysis were collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and finally searching for conclusions. The results of this study showed that students attending the morning session performed more positive activities while students attending the afternoon session performed more negative activities. This research was expected to broaden the knowledge and insights of researchers in the field of education, particularly in students’ learning activities, and as a consideration for future researchers.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of Snowball Throwing (X1) and Problem Based Learning (X2) models on the students’ social science learning motivation at grade IV elementary schools. The results showed that the snowball throwing model increased the students’ learning motivation based on the value of Sig. (2-tailed) showing that 0.000 <0.05 or t-count 10.660> t-table 1.69236. moreover, problem based learning model also increased the students’ learning motivation based on the value of Sig. (2-tailed) showing that 0.000 <0.05 or t-count 9.603> t-table 1.68957. The results demonstrated that there were differences in the effect of Snowball Throwing model and Problem Based Learning model on students’ social science learning motivation at grade IV in the public elementary schools. This was supported by the mean score of the posttest in experiment 1 which was 74.93 and the mean score of the posttest in experiment 2 which was 71.94.

Abstract

The reason for doing this research was the lack of teacher’ ability to design HOTS questions and factors that hindered the teacher in designing mid semester test questions. This research utilized a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Based on the results of the analysis, it was revealed that 31 items did not fulfill the criteria for developing HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills). This research found that those 31 items contained 0% HOTS and 100% LOTS indicating that the questions could not measure students' critical thinking skills. Thus, the teacher's ability in designing HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills) questions was categorized as Very Poor and the teacher needed guidance to design HOT questions.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the results of expert validation on game-based interactive multimedia development as an effort to improve the cognitive abilities of elementary school students. This study was development research involving the stages of a preliminary study, product development, and testing. Validation was one of the stages in a product development. It was carried out by material experts and media experts. The validation results were analyzed by converting quantitative data into qualitative data on a scale of five. The data of the development validation results were in the form of the validity percentage of the interactive multimedia to improve the cognitive abilities of elementary school students. The results of the interactive multimedia validation showed that the mean score of the validation from the media experts was 4.28 which was included in very good category, and the mean score of the validation from material experts was 4.27 which was included in very good category. Experts generally commented that game-based interactive multimedia was good and interesting and it could be used in the learning activities. Then, the researcher made revisions according to the inputs received from the experts. Improvements in interactive multimedia included adding a button to return to the main menu and the exit button, changing the menu, simplifying the material so that it was not too dense, changing the font size in less readable parts, adding references, moving cartoon characters' feet and hands while walking, and changing evaluation questions.

Abstract

This research was initiated by the lecturers’ difficulties in presenting fun learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aimed to determine the improvement of students' abilities in learning Sociolinguistics during the Covid-19 pandemic by applying STAD Type Cooperative Model implemented through the Breakoutroom Zoom Application. This application facilitated lecturers to divide students in one class into small or large groups and they could still monitor the progress of the discussion. Utilizing Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) model in the Breakoutroom Zoom application aimed to achieve a good learning process. This research was a Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles: Cycle I and Cycle II. This research was carried out in four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The object of this research was the sociolinguistics learning and the research subjects were the fourth semester students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education at the Faculty of Education, Hasyim Asy'ari University. There were 16 students consistinf of 4 male and 12 female students. The data were calculated quantitatively and analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of the research, it was found that there was an increase in the Sociolinguistic learning after implementing STAD type cooperative learning model which was carried out online through the Breakoutroom Zoom application in cycle I and II. The increase was marked by an increase of the students’ score obtained in each cycle.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the Mathematical literacy skills of Grade VI students of SD Inpres Nipa-Nipa, in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles, based on the six levels of Mathematical literacy. This research was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were two grade IV students, one student with a reflective style and another student with an impulsive style. The data collection began by giving a cognitive style test and an initial Mathematics test. Then, a Mathematical literacy test was also administered to determine the level of students’ literacy. After that, an interview was conducted to obtain more accurate data. The results showed that (1) the reflective student took a long time and was very circumspect in answering the Mathematical literacy test questions, so that the results were more accurate. The reflective student was able to answer the questions with clear procedures sequentially and was able to interpret and use representations based on information of the questions, so that it could take the right strategy to answer the question. These results revealed that the students were at the third level of mathematical literacy ability, (2) the impulsive student needed shorter time and was less careful in answering a Mathematical literacy test so that the results were less accurate. The results showed that the impulsive student could answer the question with an identified context and the relevant information with a clear question was available. In addition, the impulsive student could identify information obtained from the question and when he was given a stimulus. Thus, the impulsive student possessed the first-level of Mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

The 21st century demands the integration of 21st century skills in the curriculum. Therefore, French Language Education Study Program at Univeritas Negeri Jakarta developed a syllabus for Production Ecrite (PE) course or writing skills from semester I to semester IV. The initial step of the research was to analyze the PE syllabi from French Language Education Study Program of UNJ and 4 ex-IKIP universities having French Language Education Study Programs, such as Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesian, Universita Negeri Medan, and Universitas Negeri Semarang. The elements analyzed in the syllabi were the completeness of the RPS format for PE course and the analysis of the elements of the 21st century skills. The format of the RPS completeness refers to Permenristekdikti No. 44 of 2015, that an RPS must have an identity, learning outcomes, indicators, learning methods, time allocation, learning experience and criteria / indicators of rating weigth. Meanwhile, the elements of 21th century skills were seen through the existence of 4C elements, namely critical thinking & problem solving, creative & innovation, collaboration, and communication. The results of the analysis showed that the RPSs were good since it referred to Permenristekdikti No. 44 of 2015. However, some RPSs were not integrated with the 21st century skills.
