Abstract

This classroom action research design was aimed at analysing students failure in learning ESP (English for specific purposes) and finding out its solution. The purpose of this study was to improve the ability of Coach  Study Program students of FKIP UNRI  in learning ESP  through STAR 7 Jumps model and to find out factors that contribute more to the improvement. Total 36  students which consisted of 27 boys and 9 girls involved as the participants of the study. This research was done in two cycles. Designing syllabus, evaluating teaching materials, and compiling teaching materials were also the procedures done in each cycle (Planning, action, observation and reflection). Semi-structured observation sheets and field note was used to identify how lecturer teaching and how learners learning and ESP achievement test was employed to identify students ability. The lecturer applied the seven steps of STAR well and it made the students more active, motivated and interested in learning ESP. Students’ ability in learning ESP was also improved where mean pre-test was 67, mean post-test cycle 1  was 73 and mean post-test cycle 2 was 76.  The most dominant factor that caused the improvement was the teaching materials about match sports topic by which most students were active in problem identification, brainstorming, analyzing and formulating problems, self-study and presentation.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are very important owned, because having critical thinking skills can help us think logically in overcoming the problems we face and looking for and developing alternative solutions to those problems.This study aims to identify and describe student’s critical thinking skills in mathematics learning curriculum 2013 class V SDN 59 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted on January 22, 2020. Research subjects totaled 35 students consisting of 19 male students and 16 female students. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection instruments in the form of test questions consisting of 5 essay questions and interview guidelines conducted on several students. The results showed 60% in the very low category, 27.5% in the low category, 8.5% in the medium category, and 2.8 in the high and very high categories. Based on the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that the critical thinking skills of studnts in learning mathematics in curriculum 2013 class V SDN 59 Pekanbaru are in the very low category.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Inuman, this study aims to improve thelearning outcomes of integrated IPS class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Inuman. This research was conducted twocycles by applying contextual teaching and learning model. The results of research indicate that the learningoutcomes have increased each cycle. In the first cycle of meeting I, teacher activity got score 14 (46,42%), oncycle I meeting II 17 (60,71%), in cycle II meeting I equal to 21 (75,00%). And on second cycle of meeting IIwith score 24 (85,71%). At the first meeting I cycle activity of student get score 15 (53,57%), at meeting II cycleII get 19 (67,86%), at meeting I cycle II get 21 (75,00%). And at meeting II cycle with score 23 (82,14%). On thebasic score of the number of students who completed is 12 students, the UH I amounted to 17 students and at UHII numbered 23 students. In the basic score of student learning results obtained a value of 56.78. At UH Iobtained 67,25 and at UH II got 79,68.

Abstract

The type of research used is qualitative research using field research types, the subjects in the study were students of SMP N 3Teluk Kuantan. While the method of data collection uses observation and interview techniques to obtain the information needed,then analyzed and described in written form. The results of this study indicate that the effects that arise due to addiction playonline games for students who are addicted including: 1) more time spent at the computer or internet cafe with a longerduration. 2) time to play more so you can forget about their time to study. 3) lack of attention to the health condition of theirbody (staying up late). 4) causing a sense of laziness for school and a decrease in grades in school. That's some of the effectsthat can be caused if someone who is addicted to too much opium with online games. These effects seemed to makethemselves become abnormal people. Because someone who is addicted to online games feels they have failed to give goodservice to their lives.

Abstract

Cooperative learning type integrated cooperative reading and composition is a comprehensive program that can be used in learning, especially in science learning. the aim was to improve students' learning outcomes in science class VI Elementary School 011 Air Emas. The results showed, at the base score the average score of students was only 64, after improvement in the first cycle using a cooperative model of integrated cooperative reading and composition (CIRC) type, the average value increased to 78, and in cycle II it increased to 86. These results prove that, the model of integrated cooperative reading and composition (CIRC) proved to be effective in improving the process and student learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to improve teacher competency in developing lesson plans based on the 7E learning cycle through academic supervision. The study was conducted at Air Putih 010 Air Putih Elementary School on 13 teachers conducted for 2 months starting from 26 August to 19 October 2019. This class action research design refers to the research design according to Stephen Kemmis and Mc. Taggart consists of 4 stages in each cycle, including 1) planning, 2) action, 3) observation and 4) reflection. Data analysis through the stages of data collection, data simplification, data presentation, drawing conclusions. The results showed an increase experienced by teachers namely from the first cycle of 66% which is included in the category enough to 83% which is a very good category. Conclusions based on the results and discussion are the competencies of teachers in developing lesson plans based on the 7E learning cycle have increased after academic supervision.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum emphasizes learning using the scientific approach. In fact, many teachers still use conventional learning methods so that it impacts on student activity in the learning process. Moreover, the material taught is not related to concrete situations. The simulation method can be used to improve student learning outcomes in 4th grade in social science KD 4.2. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the simulation method on the ability to distinguish regions affected by the Mount Kelud eruption and to know the effect of the simulation method on the ability to demonstrate the mitigation efforts of the Mount Kelud eruption as a volcano in elementary school students in Kediri. The results of this study indicated: (1) based on the test results obtained tcount = 9.531> ttable = 2.032 with a significance level of 0.05, there were differences in the results of the average pre-test with post-test which meant that there was an influence of using the simulation method on the ability of students to distinguish regions affected by the eruption of Mount Kelud; (2) based on the test results obtained tcount = 12.063> ttable = 2.032 with a significance level of 0.05, there were differences in the results of the average non-simulation with simulation, which meant that there was an influence of using the simulation method on the ability to demonstrate mitigation efforts in eruption of the Kelud as a volcano.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on the traditional game “Bakiak” for learning mathematics at elementary schools. This study  utilized Research and Development (R&D) methods with Borg and Gall model design which was simplified into 8 steps: (1) the potential and problems analysis; (2) data collection; (3) product design; (4) design validation; (5) design revision; (6) product testing; (7) product revision; and (8) trial use. The subjects in this study were fifth grade elementary school students at several schools in Kabupaten Pati. This study resulted in a PBL model based on “Bakiak” games for mathematics learning at elementary schools on the materials of speed, distance, and time for grade V. At the guiding phase, the investigation of individuals and groups was integrated with “Bakiak” games. The syntax for developing the model consisted of 7 stages, namely students’ orientation to problems, organizing students to learn, guiding individual and group investigations, assisting in data analysis, helping to find out mathematical concepts, developing work results, as well as analyzing and evaluating processes. The product and instruments were validated by media experts, material experts, and learning experts with a score of 3.47 (very good). Thus, the development of a PBL model based on “Bakiak” games was feasible to be used for learning mathematics.

Abstract

This research is a development research, conducted to develop Student Worksheet (LKS) with multiculturalbased. LKS is designed by integrating various forms of cultural diversity of students into subjects of CulturalArts and Skills. This study aims to introduce and grow regional cultural values to elementary school students.This LKS was developed using 4-D model consisting of four stages namely define, design, develop, anddisseminate. The instruments used in the study consisted of validation questionnaires, pretest posttest andstudent response questionnaires. LKS that has been designed validated by 3 people namely learning materialexperts, media experts, linguists, and teachers of class V. After the design of LKS validated and then tested onthe students of Class V SDN 11 Rice. The result of the research shows that LKS based on multicultural that hasbeen designed is declared very feasible by the validator with score percentage 86,74. In the limited trial stage, apretest average score of 46.54 and posttest of 65.35 was obtained. For N-Gain results in pretest and posttest is0.33, with medium category. Student response to LKS based multicultural is in very good category with scorepercentage 92,16. In dissemination stage (product disseminate) on Class VI obtained response equal to 85,32with very good category. For teacher response obtained an average of 90.1 with very decent category.

Abstract

The background of this study is the low level of economic learning outcomes of students of class XI SMA Negeri 5Pekanbaru, low student learning outcomes is seen from the average learning outcomes obtained by students is59,40. The low acquisition of student learning outcomes done efforts to improve learning outcomes by applying themodel NHT type cooperative learning. This study is a classroom action research conducted in class XI SMA Negeri5 Pekanbaru with the number of students as many as 40 students, this research conducted two cycles consisting oftwo meetings and two daily test, this research was conducted through four stages: planning, observation, andreflection. Based on the research data, it can be concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning modeltype NHT can improve student's economic learning outcomes, seen from the acquisition of learning data data on theaverage data of student learning outcomes of 59,40, in the first cycle has increased with the acquisition of 69,60,and in the second cycle increased with the acquisition of 75,80. In addition, the number of student completeness alsoincreased, in the initial data the number of completed students amounted to 17(42,50%), in the first cycle increasedby the number 25 (62,50%), and in the second cycle increased by the number 33 (82,50%)
