Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical reasoning ability of Grade XI students through the implementation of GeoGebra-assisted discovery learning. The research employed a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 40 Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 8 Padang, and the learning material focused on geometric transformations. The main research instrument was an essay test developed based on indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. Data were analyzed by examining the average test scores and learning completeness in each cycle. The results showed that the application of GeoGebra-assisted discovery learning successfully improved students’ mathematical reasoning skills. This improvement was indicated by an increase in the average test score from 63.15% in Cycle I to 81.22% in Cycle II. In addition, learning completeness increased from 55% in Cycle I to 80% in Cycle II, thereby meeting the predetermined success indicator of at least 70% of students achieving improvement. Discovery-based learning supported by GeoGebra encouraged students to actively observe patterns, formulate conjectures, examine arguments, and draw conclusions through direct visual exploration. These findings suggest that the integration of technological media into active learning models can foster deeper, more logical, and more structured mathematical reasoning processes. Therefore, GeoGebra-assisted discovery learning is effective in enhancing the mathematical reasoning ability of Grade XI students.

Abstract

This study examines the role of teachers in motivating learning among Class IV students at SDN 003 Tambun, Pelalawan. Learning motivation is a key factor influencing students’ engagement and academic participation, particularly at the elementary school level. Preliminary observations indicated that students’ motivation varied, with several learners showing low motivation, as reflected in passive behavior, limited participation, and low interest during classroom activities. Therefore, this study explores how teachers enact their roles as motivators in addressing these challenges. The present study employed a descriptive qualitative design conducted during the 2024/2025 academic year. The participants consisted of one fourth-grade classroom teacher as the primary informant and 18 Class IV students as supporting informants. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of instructional activities. Data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model that involved data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions, while trustworthiness was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed three main motivational strategies implemented by the teacher: providing encouragement and clear learning objectives, applying praise and positive reinforcement, and using varied teaching methods supported by learning media and individualized approaches. These strategies contributed to a more supportive and engaging learning environment. However, students’ learning motivation remained uneven, with some demonstrating low self-confidence and fear of making mistakes, which limited their active participation. In conclusion, teachers play a crucial role in motivating students’ engagement in learning. The findings provide practical implications for teachers in designing structured, emotionally supportive, and interactive learning environments to strengthen students’ confidence and sustain learning motivation in elementary classrooms.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of digital literacy into Islamic higher education instruction through the implementation of blended learning at the State Islamic Institute of Takengon. Using a mixed-methods design, the research involved 30 participants (10 students, 10 lecturers, and 10 administrators) selected through stratified random sampling. Quantitative data were collected through structured questionnaires, while qualitative data were obtained from semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. The findings reveal that participants demonstrate strong proficiency in basic digital skills such as word processing and internet navigation, yet show limited competence in advanced skills, including digital content creation and critical evaluation of digital sources. Blended learning emerged as an effective pedagogical strategy for embedding digital literacy into Islamic studies courses, particularly in Ulumul Qur’an and Ulumul Hadits. However, infrastructural limitations, insufficient professional development, and institutional resistance remain significant challenges. The study offers a contextual model of digital literacy integration grounded in Islamic educational values and highlights the importance of structured digital pedagogy training and improved technological infrastructure. These findings provide practical and policy-oriented recommendations for strengthening curriculum innovation in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

Contemporary educational reform in Indonesia has largely emphasized policy design and teacher implementation, yet limited attention has been given to how prospective teachers conceptualize ideal education and interpret systemic challenges. Addressing this gap, this study explores how pre-service teachers articulate their vision of ideal education and critically assess current educational conditions. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected from 33 fifth-semester students in an Islamic Education program through open reflective essays and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The findings reveal five interrelated dimensions shaping prospective teachers' conceptualization of ideal education: (1) learner-centered and meaningful pedagogy, (2) critique of assessment-oriented culture, (3) recognition of structural educational inequality, (4) awareness of professional pressures on teachers, and (5) integration of character education with 21st-century competencies. These themes demonstrate that prospective teachers' perspectives extend beyond classroom technique and reflect an emerging structural and professional consciousness. The study proposes an Ideal Education Framework that integrates pedagogical commitment, structural awareness, and systemic support as interconnected dimensions of educational transformation. This study contributes to the discourse on Indonesian educational reform by repositioning prospective teachers as reflective epistemic actors whose perspectives bridge pedagogical ideals and policy realities. The findings offer policy-relevant insights for strengthening teacher education, promoting equitable resource distribution, and balancing accountability with professional autonomy in national education reform.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the plugged-in method through Wordwall in teaching procedure text writing to Grade V students at SDN Kemuning. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach involving 20 Grade V students, using observation, interviews, and documentation analysis. The findings demonstrate that interactive activities, such as match-up exercises, help students understand the sequence of steps more coherently through immediate system feedback. The use of Wordwall also increases student enthusiasm because the learning process becomes more varied and aligned with digital technology. Teachers play an important role in guiding the use of digital media, maintaining structured learning activities, and providing assistance when technical problems arise, such as login difficulties or unstable internet connections. Overall, the findings indicate that Wordwall's plugged-in method can create a more engaging learning environment while improving students' ability to compose procedure texts systematically. Wordwall can therefore be utilized as an effective digital learning medium to enhance the accuracy of procedural text structure at the elementary level and to contribute to the development of digital-based writing instruction strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the level of legal literacy among Citizenship Education students across cognitive, affective, and behavioural dimensions. The approach is quantitative, with a survey design. The study sample consisted of 50 students selected through probability sampling techniques. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire structured around three main dimensions: legal Knowledge, legal Awareness, and law-abiding behaviour. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a one-way ANOVA to examine differences in legal literacy across semesters. The results show that students' legal literacy is generally high across all dimensions. The affective dimension shows the strongest trend, followed by the cognitive and behavioural dimensions. In addition, there are significant differences in legal literacy levels by semester, indicating that academic experience contributes to progressive improvement in legal literacy. These findings confirm that legal literacy is a multidimensional competency that needs to be developed in an integrated manner through the Citizenship Education curriculum. This study provides theoretical contributions to strengthening the legal literacy model and practical implications for developing more participatory and reflective learning strategies in higher education.
