This research in an ongoing research of devaloping hot-potatoes for listening materials It applied development reseach design and using analyze, design, and develop procedure, but this research has not reached the implementation and the evaluation stages and will be continued. This study started by designing the the drafts and developing the product. This product categorized into some levels, from the easiest to the difficult one. The students practice their listening as well as play a game. In addition to play a game, students uncounsiously acquire new knowledge. The need for material that meets the educational standards is indispensable. Various publishers compete to publish books that can be sold and used in schools. Writing this article aims to inform the basics that can be applied in developing learning materials especially English learning. The influence of the principles of the development of learning materials should be used as a reference in designing and developing learning materials. Listening is one of the English language skills that should always be trained and improved so that students are accustomed to communicate in target language. With the listening material that can be used easily by students and teachers, it is expected that listening learning objectives can be achieved.

The objective of the study is to develop supplementary reading materials. Based on the observation of the Eight year students in rural area students at SMPN 4 Air Besar , it was found that the problem faced by the students is the ability reading in English. Students complained that reading text are difficult because the content of the texts are not telling about their background like culture, ritual, tradition and practice. Moreover, the Reading materials in the existing book used by the school are from java, Bali even from abroad, so it make difficult for students because they donot have the background of the text in their daily live. The method is the research and development with the adaptation of the development proposed Robert Maribe Branch’s framework. To get the data of dayak local wisdom thus identification of needs is done. Data getting from questionnaires, interview and direct observation. The developed materials which consist of six units contain the custom of dayak local wisdom. The developed materials were then evaluated by three experts. The evaluation showed that besides the good points, there were still a number of weak points. The weak ones were revised according to the feedbacks and suggestions from the experts. The feedbacks from the students suggested adding some pictures of dayak local wisdom and clear instructions. After some revisions from the feedbacks and suggestions from the expert validation the final product was completed. In conclusion teacher know their students’needs. Thus english language teachers are recommended to write own supplementary material based on students needs (dayak local wisdom if the students are mayority of dayak)

The objective of this research was to clarify the correlation between students’ reading habit and their writing skill to the second semester students of IKIP-PGRI Pontianak. The method used in this research was correlational research method. The sample was chosen by using cluster random sampling and it was from A morning class at English Education Department of IKIP-PGRI Pontianak that consisted of forty four students on the second semester. Subsequently, tools for data collection were closed-questionnaire and written test. According to the findings, the result showed that 0.470 (rxy) > than 0.297 (rtable). If rxy > than rtable, so there was significant correlation. Furthermore, the result of this research implied that reading habit gives the positive effect for students writing skill. From this research, it is recommended for the student to accustom reading so that they will get much information which will be used in their writing skill.

Judul penelitian ini adalah “Motivasi Orang Tua Menyekolahkan Anak di Malaysia (Studi pada Orang Tua di Daerah Perbatasan Indonesia Malaysia pada Kecamatan Puring Kencana)”. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui motivasi intrinsik orang tua menyekolahkan anak di Malaysia, untuk mengetahui motivasi ekstrinsik orang tua menyekolahkan anak di Malaysia, dan untuk mengetahui dampak dari motivasi orang tua menyekolahkan anak di Malaysia. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi, dengan alat pengumpulan data berupa panduan wawancara, panduan observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi orang tua menyekolahkan anak di Malaysia karena adanya dorongan dari dalam maupun luar diri orang tua. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi yang telah peneliti laksanakan membuktikan bahwa faktor intrinsik motivasi yaitu adanya harapan, serta penghargaan. Sedangkan faktor ekstrinsik motivasi seperti adanya dorongan keluarga, lingkungan dan imbalan.

Teachers’ perception toward the implementation of the new curriculum is one of the fascinating topics to discuss. This research explored the teachers’ perception and problems in the implementing of curriculum 2013 in two senior high schools. It was conducted in qualitative research and the technique of collecting the data by was the interview. The participants of this study were two English teachers who taught at different senior high schools in Sambas. The data analysis was from teachers’ statements and answer. This research focused on the teachers’ perception and problem based on some indicators, namely teachers’ knowledge, teachers’ emotion, teachers’ behavior, and teacher’s motivation. The result of this research showed that teachers had good perception toward implementing curriculum from their understanding on curriculum 2013. Furthermore, this study showed some problems such as applying the scientific approach, the students’ capability, and time allocation.

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui upaya memperkuat materi bahan ajar entrepreneur sejarah melalui analisi kebutuhan baik mahasiswa maupun stake holder. Penelitian dilakukan di program studi pendidikan sejarah Universitas PGRI Madiun. Menjadi seorang entreprenuer diperlukan sikap kemandirian dalam mencari peluang sekaligus mandiri dalam menanggung segala resiko. Sikap tersebut dapat dibangun apabila tersedia bahan ajar yang berisi wawasan yang jelas akan peluang ekonomi serta resiko yang harus dihadapi. Ketidak tersediaan bahan ajar entreprenuer sejarah menyebabkan mahasiswa tidak memiliki wawasan yang luas dari tujuan pembelajaran entreprenuer. Untuk itu perlu disusun bahan ajar entreprenuer sejarah yang bersinergi dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa prodi pendidikan sejarah dan stake holder.Metode penelitian yang dipergunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif yaitu berupa studi kasus. Sumber data diperoleh melalui wawancara, angket , studi arsip dan dokumen serta observasi langsung. Adapun analisa data dilakukan dengan metode analisis data kualitatif yang ditujukan pada data-data yang sifatnya kualitas dan sifat yang nyata diterapkan di lokasi penelitian. Ada dua cara yang digunakan yaitu analisis isi dan analisis interaktif. Untuk data dokumen dan arsip digunakan analisis isi, sedangkan untuk data hasil wawancara dan observasi digunakan analisis interaktif melalui analisis tiga komponen yaitu (a) Reduksi Data (b) Penyajian data (c) Verifikasi/kesimpulan. Kesimpulan penelitian bahwa mahasiswa menghendaki materi bahan ajar berisikan: 1) Historioprenuer dan gagasan usaha, 2) Deskripsi cagar budaya di Madiun, 3) Perencanaan bisnis pariwisata, sedangkan stake holder menghendaki :1) Perencanaan bisnis khususnya pariwisata sejarah, 2) Diskripsi cagar budaya di Kota Madiun. 3) Berpikir kreatif inovatif dalam melihat peluang bisnis pariwisata sejarah di Madiun.

Teaching materials used in schools are various. Coursebooks are books used in colleges or schools as teaching guideline. The tasks presented in a coursebook should fit three basic components; they are the curriculum, the students, and the teachers. İn this study, the researcher only focus on a coursebook fits the students. In order to fit the students’ need, a textbook should consider four things, such as content/explanation, examples, exercises/tasks, and presentation/format. The latest curriculum in Indonesia which is curriculum 2013 requires English teachers to implement a new coursebook. Therefore, the explanation of coursebook materials shuoulb be clear and understandable. Hence, the writer aimed this study to investigate the presented explanation of grammar materials in the latest revised English Coursebook of grade tenth. Whether the explanation can help the students achieve the learning objectives. This study was a content analysis study which analyses the content of a coursebook. The result of the study revealed that this coursebook is quite simple yet it does not consist of clear explanations on the grammar materials part. Moreover, some interactive teaching strategies are presented in the coursebook. Some language use and languge form also emphasizes in the coursebook.

Textbook plays an important role in English language teaching. Therefore evaluating a textbook is needed. It is interesting to analyse the newest textbook provided by the government due to it is used as a compulsory textbook. This study used a framework proposed by Littlejohn (2011). It is a subjective analysis level. The study focused on three key aspects of tasks; (1) what is the learners expected to do; (2) who are the learners to work with; and (3) what is the content focus for. This was a qualitative content analysis study. The data of the research is "When English Rings A Bell" textbook. It is used on the seventh-grade level. The data was collected using the analysis tasks sheet. The result of the study has shown that the tasks presented were relevant to the requirements regarding Littlejohn’s framework. Based on the findings, it suggested that the materials developer should enrich presented ELT materials with various tasks.

This study aims to obtain accurate information about students’ performance in Micro Teaching class and how it meets the students’ expectations toward Micro Teaching class on sixth semester students of English Language Program FKIP Untan Pontianak. The method of this study was quantitative method. The subjects of this study are sixth semester students of English academic year 2017-2018 who took Micro Teaching subject. The researcher took 42 students as the samples of this study. The instruments which were used in this study were an observation sheet adopted from the observation sheet of Education and Teacher Training’s (PLPG) assessment activity and questionnaires which were designed based on Likert scales. The findings of this research was then analyzed qualitatively to find out how well the students performed in the micro teaching class, and to find out how the micro teaching class met the students’ expectations. The results of this study showed that the students’ performance in Micro Teaching is categorized as good performance regarding the minimum score of a student in this research was 3.01 which was considered successful in this subject, and it also showed that the students’ performance met the students’ expectations, it was proved by how high the students put their expectations in learning which was counted qualitatively by obtaining the average score of the interpretation scores for the whole questions in the questionnaire 87%.
