Abstract

YouTube is the most popular video sharing websites where millions of videos can be found online, especially videos for learning a language. Students can use YouTube to get many language learning videos to help them study the language. Not only getting many videos that can be used as teaching materials in the classroom, teachers can also create their own English video for their students or even for everyone. Designing an English learning video is an opportunity for teachers to make videos based on their teaching context. One type of content that can have a big opportunity to develop is English learning video in form of Vlog. Vlog has a huge number of audiences, especially for Indonesian learners. This research is aimed at analyzing the potential of English learning video in form of Vlog for ELT material writers.

Abstract

The research was determine is "Teacher's Pedagogic Competence in Improving Learning Outcomes in Sociology Subjects in Class X of the Pontianak Al-Jihad MAS". The purpose of this study was to determine teacher planning in conducting sociology learning with the 2013 curriculum, to find out the implementation of teachers in conducting sociology learning with the 2013 curriculum, to describe evaluations conducted by teachers in sociology learning with the 2013 curriculum. The approach used was a qualitative approach with descriptive method . Data collection techniques used were interview techniques and documentation, with data collection tools in the form of interview guides and documentation. Based on the results of interviews and documentation that the researchers have done prove that the sociology learning plan carried out by the teacher is still not optimal because the device is still incomplete. Then the implementation of sociology learning has not been implemented well because it did not achieve the planned learning objectives, and the evaluation carried out in sociology learning was quite good because it had used the assessment criteria as planned.

Abstract

The title of this research is “The Level of Politic Participation from the Beginner Voters on the Governor Election 2018 based on the Gender and Education (A Beginner Voters Study at Sambas Sub-District)”. The aims of this research were to find out the level of politic participation from the beginner voters based on their gender, education and also to investigate  the factors that influenced the level of the politic participation, especially from the beginner voters based on their gender and education on the Governor Election 2018. This research was conducted through a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data for this research were collected by using an interview technique and documentations with the interview guidance and documentation instruments. The result of this research showed that the beginner voters’ gender and education have influenced the level of the politic participation on the Governor Election 2018. In addition, the research also found out three factors that have influenced the level of politic participation from the beginner voters on the Governor Election 2018, which were the social environment factor, the personal factor, the consciousness factor and the credibility factor toward the goverment.

Abstract

The main purpose of conducting this research is to investigate students’ perception toward listening comprehension difficulties and the use of Top-down listening strategy in listening class of the ninth grade students of SMPN 13 Pontianak in the year 2018-2019. It also investigated the correlation between students’ listening difficulties and strategy usage. The method of this research is a cross-sectional survey. The data were collected by using a questionnaire, continuous Likert-scale. Then, the data collected from the questionnaire was analyzed by using descriptive statistical analysis to present the items frequency, mean, and standard deviation. The population of this research is all of the ninth grade students at SMPN 13 Pontianak. The total population is 333 students from 9 classes. While the participants are 168 selected through representative stratified random. The findings showed that accent, pronunciation, the speed of speech, lack of vocabulary, the complex grammatical structure, basic background knowledge,  lack of concentration, bad quality of recording were the major difficulties encountered by the ninth grade students in SMPN 13 Pontianak. The development of listening skill to the learners must be intensified in language learning because listening is critical and important not only as a receptive skill but also as a tool needed for the development of spoken language ability.

Abstract

Measure efficacy of achiving educational goals depends upon how the process of learning experienced by student. The problem in this research is  (1) how large the effect of the application of learning model  Number Heads Together to recall the material in learning accounting (2) How large the effect of the application of learning model number head togheter in improving student learning outcomes   (3)How big the influence of the application of learning models number head together in improving the recall material and student learning outcomes in learning accounting . This research took place ion two cycle. Collection tecnique is test and observation.The result is in first cycle indicates that the percentage increase in power remember material in learning accounting achive 71,87 % and the second cycle indicates that the percentage increase in material in learning accouting achive 77,42%. Research result student learning in fisrt cycle is equal to 70,27 with an average of 80. In the second cycle in increased to 89,19 % with the average 83.

Abstract

This article initiates the discussion about alternative idea that might break the deadlock in supporting materials for students with writing difficulty in inclusive school and children with special needs in general. This article discuss the importance of lettering book and alternatives in order to help children to overcome their weaknesses in learning basic skills such as writing. In this article, the writer includes introduction, types of special needs and low-level primary school students, the definition of lettering, parenting for helping the special needs children, and conclusion. Furthermore, the book can be used by teacher and parents outside the classroom to direct children’s activity and to control their progress in the remedy of their learning disabilities. In the last part, the writer urges publishers and teachers to develop lettering book for children with special needs to overcome the children’s difficulty in acquiring writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the social integration of multiethnic communities in a functional structural perspective in Durian Village, Sungai Ambawang District. The research method used is descriptive in the form of qualitative research. The source of this research data is obtained by observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that the process of social integration of multiethnic communities occurred because of the existence of individual sociolinguistic abilities, ethnorelativism attitudes, mechanisms for problem solving, especially persuasively and the application of customary sanctions and the strength of local leadership. Meanwhile, the results of social integration are the creation of social stability because of the acculturation of local wisdom values and the development of a high sense of tolerance resulting in inter-ethnic cooperation and interdependence.

Abstract

The quality and the success of learning is strongly influenced by the ability and the accuracy of the teacher in choosing and using the learning models, there are various methods that can be used by teachers to deliver the subject matter, among others, problem solving learning model. Problem solving learning model is learning model that emphasize a logical problem. This learning model encourages students to think systematically by confronting problems related to the life in the community. This problem solving learning model is more appropriate to be used in sociology subjects, by solving social problems that exist in society. By seeing the low interest in learning, the students tend to be passive and just fixated on the book. These make the students have a low learning interest. Because the learning model used by the teacher influence the quality of the teaching process. By this learning model the teacher can improve students' learning interest in the learning process.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyse the content of students textbook in junior high school at seventh grade based on curriculum 2013. This study aimed to analyse whether the content in the students’ textbook When English Rings the Bell in focus for seventh grade Junior High School are appropriate with the content standard of curriculum K13 or not. In this research, the researcher used document analysis. This document analysis used library research without observing the certain phenomenon directly. The data was taken from the content in the English textbook used in Junior High School at eighth grade students. To collecting the data, the writer used documentary method. For analysing data, the writer presented the content of the English textbook and analyse the content of the English textbook focusing on the grammar aspects. The finding showed that the contents were focussed on certain grammar for junior high school at seventh grade students. The biggest part is Simple Past Tense. It showed that the content of the English textbook for seventh grade Junior High School are appropriate with the content standard of curriculum K13.
