Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of multicultural education in 1 Teluk Keramat senior high school. This research is a qualitative research. The research subjects were Principals, Teachers, and Students. The results of the study show the strategies carried out by schools in implementing multicultural education through the implementation of multicultural education in schools seen from the dimension of content integration. integration into self-programmed and programmed self-development activities. Programmed self-development activities in the form of extracurricular activities, and non-programmed self-development activities consist of routine activities carried out on a scheduled basis, spontaneous activities and exemplary activities. Integration into social studies subjects, integration in subjects is carried out in each subject or theme in learning. Supporting factors are the school climate, school curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, the role of teachers, school programs and activities, and students. The inhibiting factors are individual attitudes, lack of diversity media, posters about diversity and multicultural values, and lack of socialization. In addition, multicultural education in the form of practical activities outside of school in particular is still lacking in schools. Efforts to overcome obstacles include emphasizing values of respect, respect and tolerance. Supported by school policies that carry out noble character education, add diversity posters, socialize, conduct activities outside of school by participating students in various activities outside of school.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to compare two English textbooks on the tenth-grade level. They were official books published by Goverment of Indonesia (GOI) published in 2014 and 2017. Littlejohn’S framework was applied to analyzing the process. The evaluation covers objective description, subjective analysis and subjective inference. Yet, this article focused on objective description and subjective analysis. The result found that there was significant revision in those books. It could be seen on the analysis result. This research analyzed elevent points- place of the learner’s material in any wider set of materials, published form of the learner’s materials, subdivision of the learner’s materials into sections, subdivision of sections into sub-sections, continuity, route, access, aims, principle of selection, pronciple of sequencing and subject matter and focus on subject matter. Based on elevent analyzing point, five of them was revised by the book author. The revision lied on subdivision on learners' materials, a subdivision of section into subsections, and access-publication section. Furthermore, on the design part, the revision lied on the aims and the objectives of books. In addition, the later book has better design than the previous one. The learning objectives are clearly stated on the preface part and it designed through the understandable task instructions.

Abstract

The development of web-based economic evaluation is aimed at facilitating the real situation in the field. The actual situation is the existence of technology that has been owned by students as a whole as smartphones and computers. This study aims to provide an effective media for assessment of learning. This study was conducted at Sambas Secondary School 1. This research and development, ie, examines without testing where the purpose of this development research is to find potential. The method used to find potential research and development (Research and Development) is the ADDIE method

Abstract

This study aims to find out and obtain information about the application of value and discipline norm at SDIT Al-Madinah Pontianak. The approach used is qualitative research with descriptive research methods. The results showed that the application of value and discipline norm at SDIT Al-Madinah Pontianak had been carried out well, among others: discipline of students to not be late for school, neatness of students in dressing, students attending Dhuhr prayer together, and taking extracurricular activities according to provisions school. Constraints faced lies in the students themselves because of the lack of discipline of students in managing themselves in the enforcement of the rules, so that there are still students who have not been able to discipline for themselves to comply with the Rules set by the school.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design and develop speaking and writing materials from “Bahasa Inggris” textbook for the tenth grade students of vocational school by incorporating collocation expressions and adding the explanations of those expressions which will be used into dialog texts for speaking and writing activities. The method of this study will be Design and Development Research. The development were needed due to the need for the students to learn natural English thus the participants of this research will be the tenth grade students of St. Monika Vocational School. Since this research will evaluate the usability and the practicality of the materials, the participants will be assigned to analyse the collocation expressions, the use of the expressions and the meanings of the collocations expressions contained in the dialogues. The feedback and responses from the participants are then gathered and analysed as the formative evaluation for the improvement of the materials.

Abstract

Perekonomian masyarakat pesisir yang masih jauh dari kesejahteraan dan kualitan pendidikan yang memadai, padahal berada di sumber daya yang unggul, namun keberadaan sumberdaya tersebut kurang mampu termaamfaakan oleh masyarakat, Pemerintah Kabupaten Sambas berupaya untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat pesisir melalui berbagai program pendidikan, pelatihan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat Meskipun demikian, upaya yang dilakukan kurang berhasil karena program dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Sambas Belum termamfaatkan secara efektif dan efesien, dan program tersebut kurang dalam mengamankan akses masyarakat terhadap sumber daya alam. Bagi masyarakat pesisir, selain sumber daya alam pesisir dan objek wisata pantai adalah aset. Oleh karenanya, ada tiga hal utama yang harus dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan mereka, yaitu melakukan Pendidikan dan pelatihan pengelolah hasil laut, penguatan akses terhadap objek wisata pantai, dan pemberian modal usaha kepada masyarakat untuk mengembangkan potensi lingkungan.

Abstract

Multiculturalism is a reality in Indonesian society that students must be aware and understand early on. An understanding of multiculturalism aims to enable students to respect their own culture and the culture of others, which includes differences in religion, ethnicity and race based on Pancasila and unity in diversity (Unity in Diversity). Education has an important role in instilling multicultural knowledge in students so students can apply their cultural values and respect other cultures in their daily lives in society. Whatever form the school must contain multicultural education in every learning. Although there are currently many faith-based schools such as Islamic Schools or Christian schools, which have homogeneous students in religion but the most important is how students remain aware of how to promote tolerance and respect for others in their surrounding environment. This paper will distcuss how faith-based schools such as Madrasah schools based on Islamic schools or Christian Schools build multicultural awareness in their students at school.

Abstract

Teaching English to non-native learners is always a challenging task for any teacher in EFL contexts. One perpetual reason is the lack of exposure to the target language both orally and in writing. Debate continues about two opposing views on the utilization of authentic reading materials and the utilization of local-based reading. This paper attempts to defend the latter view by elaborating the potentials of local culture-based materials and their role in the EFL Classroom. This is a library research where the information is gathered from studies by other researchers. In EFL context, where the learners rarely have a direct acquaintance with native speakers, the benefits of making use of authentic reading book are not meaningful especially for the beginner level students due to the issues such as text readability, cultural understanding, and experiential input. Therefore, local culture-based reading materials are recommended to be developed since it suggests many benefits for the students in English as a Foreign Language context.

Abstract

This research is a type of research and development in learning Accounting in High School. The development model applied consists of; 1) the need analysis phase, 2) the product design stage, 3) the production stage, 4) the validation and evaluation stages, 5) the revision stage, 6) the product testing phase, and 7) the analysis phase and the final revision. The validation phase is carried out by product validation carried out by accounting material experts, learning media experts and accounting learning practitioners, namely the Santa Maria Catholic Vocational High School accounting teacher Pontianak. The product developed was tested on 34 grade XI Santa Maria Catholic Vocational High School Pontianak. Data collection is done by questionnaire and test. Questionnaire for eligibility for experts and practitioners, opinion questionnaires and test questions addressed to students. The results of the study show that the learning media in the form of Accounting Comics is very feasible to use. In testing the learning field using accounting comics, it was successful in increasing the average student test scores. Thus, the comic-shaped learning media is very feasible to use for learning accounting at the Catholic Santa Maria Vocational High School Pontianak.
