Abstract

Pesaren beach is one of the beaches in Bintet Village, Belinyu District, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, where this beach has been functioned as a tourist area as well as a boat port for fishermen. A frequent problem in Pesaren beach is the abrasion that causes damage to local infrastructure; hence, a coastal protection plan is needed to prevent further losses. This research aims to find out the pattern of currents and sediments using the auxiliary applications, as well as to determine and plan the type of coastal protective building that is appropriate with the Pesaren beach conditions. Based on planning analysis, the dominant cause of abrasion is large waves from the north, as well as other factors, i.e., the direction of currents and sediments dominant that perpendicular to the coast; therefore, the type and shape of selected coastal protective buildings were proposed with the following specifications: breakwater with a height (HT) of 5.2 m, peak width (lp) of 1.5 m, total base width (b) of 26.7 m, breakwater (ly) length of 350 m, protection layer width (t) of 1 m, number of stones per 10 m² (N) of 86 grains, weight of main layer stone grains (W) of 0.179 tons, weight of second-tier stone grains (W/10) of 0.0179 tons, weight of stone grains at the core of the structure (W/200) of 0.000895 tons, and weight of breakwater foot grains (W/15) of 0.0119 tons.

Abstract

Potential problems of rock-slope landslide were found in the construction of the new shortcut 4 road on the BTS national road section from Singaraja City to Mangwitani, Bali, Indonesia. The source of landslide potential is from andesite with intense stiffness found during excavation work of the road body. The potential for rock-slope landslides can threaten the bridge abutment building above. The andesite-slope product location of shallow intrusion is exactly on the shores of Lake Bratan. This study aims to determine the level of elevation of the slope based on each type of failure as well as empirical treatment recommendations. The research method was done by applying a local geological mapping to determine rock types, field measurements by scanning rock outcrop locations, and a calculation of rock-mass-quality values using the Rock Mass Rating (RMR) method. Whereas the Rock Quality Assessment was carried out using the Rock Mass Rating (RMR) method, the slope evaluation was carried out using the Slope Mass Rating (SMR). The study used types of potential landslides and values, namely, planar landslides with an SMR value of 30.18 (Unstable) and a landslide probability of 0.6, wedge landslides with an SMR value of 57.6 (Partially Stable) and a landslide probability of 0.4, and the potential for tipping landslides with an SMR value of 47.6 (Partially Stable) and a landslide probability of 0.4. SMR values indicate that rock slopes require further handling/treatment to get a stable slope. In addition, the slope angle of 650 is sufficient.

Abstract

After earthquake and tsunami in 2004, Aceh Barat Regency had been trying to reduce disaster risk by making evacuation routes for residents from disaster-prone areas to high and safe places. However, currently several existing evacuation routes are in a badly damaged condition, namely the Alue Peunyareng - UTD Ujong Tanoh Darat Village, Meureubo District and the Meulaboh - Tutut Keuramat Village, Kaway XVI District. If the condition of the road is in a badly damaged condition, during the disaster evacuation process, this area will experience many obstacles, i.e., the level of driving safety and slower vehicle travel time. This study aims to evaluate the level of road damage on the two existing roads by comparing the Bina Marga and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) methods. The data was collected by field observations through measuring the level of damage, and the Average Daily Traffic (LHR) survey. The analysis results by two methods showed that the condition of the Alue Peunyareng - UTD road, Ujong Tanoh Darat Village, Meureubo District was very poor category with an average PCI value of 23.30 and the priority value of handling is 4 with periodic maintenance recommendation, whereas the Meulaboh road - Tutut Keuramat Village, Kaway XVI District was poor category with an average PCI value of 31.33 and a priority value of 3 with road improvement recommendation. The recommendation for alternative treatment is to replace the pavement by calculating the additional pavement layer thickness or by recycling the existing pavement for a more efficient cost.

Abstract

The tools that are often used, such as sondir and SPT, are quite heavy and require a long measurement time span, making it difficult to determine the shear strength of the soil, both in the laboratory and in the field.. This study uses the resistivity geoelectric method of the Wenner Alpha configuration supported by the Naniura NRD 300 HF tool. The aim is to determine the estimated groundwater level and determine the resistivity value of each type of soil layer below the surface of the study area. This study performs 2D measurements to calculate 1-D and 2-D geoelectric resistivity with electrodes arranged lengthwise to form a straight line. Using the IP2WIN software, the measurement results are processed to produce a 2D apparent resistivity section that describes the color image distribution values of the soil surface layer. The measurement results on track 1 shows a resistivity value between 3,512 – 1.539 Ω.m with a length of 90 m at a depth to 15.05 m. The predicted groundwater level elevation is located 0.656 meters below the surface of the ground. Track 2 has a span length of 60 meters and resistivity values ranging from 29.55 to 207.1.m, with a predicted groundwater level at a depth of 0.72 m below the surface. The types of soil layers are clay mixed with sand, sand mixed with gravel and sandstone mixed with gravel.

Abstract

One of the bridge construction projects in Kalimantan was built on soft soil using a piled embankment reinforcement system. The reinforcement used is a combination of minipile and geotextile poles. However, after the landfill was carried out on the bridge embankment, a settlement is occured of approximately 0.6 m in a period of 3 months. Studies are conducted to evaluate and review the causes of decline. In addition, optimization of the design was carried out in this study. Evaluation is carried out by reviewing the bearing capacity of single and group piles of the minipile based on Standart Penetration Tests data. The calculation of load distribution on piled embankments follows the regulation of BS 8006. Deformation analysis is performed with Plaxis 2D program. Based on the analysis results, it was found that the ultimate bearing capacity of the pile group under the embankment was not able to withstand the working load. The settlement that occurred in the bridge's oprit was most likely caused by the collapse of the soil. Based on the consolidation analysis using plaxis, a value of 0.6 m was obtained within 90 days. Based on the evaluation results, the optimization of the design was carried out using the same method, namely using a pile embankment but differed in the dimensions and installation configuration. The design optimization results show that the bearing capacity is sufficient and the resulting average total deformation is 0.0435 m.

Abstract

The success of the construction sector is inseparable from cost and quality, it is reported that identified quality failures reach 5-20% of the project contract value. To reduce quality failures and failure costs in the implementation of construction projects, it is necessary to provide cost of quality (COQ) assistance. In this research, reinforced concrete construction was chosen as the object of COQ assistance because it is a critical part of the structure. The purpose of this research is to categorize the COQ from internal and external factors and analyze the potential costs incurred for these failure factors. Analysis of the cost of quality failure was carried out based on the weighting of the results of the pairwise comparison matrix to obtain consistency index (CI) and Consistency ratio (CR) values and using the Kruskal Wallis test as a non-parametric test approach. The results of this research indicate that COQ greatly influences profitability, where the failure of the highest internal quality is the work method factor which affects the failure of the final concrete result in the form of structural and visual defects, while the highest external quality failure is the product selection factor at the client's request which causes the resulting construction products are not in accordance with the specifications or not in accordance with the expected function. Based on the causal factors of the quality failure, the implementation control process affects the result of product quality to the point of causing clients to demand, replace, and repair during the warranty period. Failure costs that affect the highest contract value amounted to 7.26% of internal failures and 6.40% of external failures.

Abstract

Construction project resources are one of the essential things in a construction phase. Every year, contractor performance decreases due to limitations in managing and managing project resources. One way contractors can deal with these problems is to improve quality performance during construction. One of the causes of problems at work is the resource factor. The resource factor in the construction process dramatically influences the contractor's performance. This study aims to analyze how much influence each factor of project resources (human resources, materials, equipment, implementation methods and information technology) of the project has Connecting Bridge, Patimban Port Development Project. The study collected sample data on 33 people involved in the project development process analysis using SEM-PLS analysis with the help of SmartPLS 3.0. From testing, this study's results indicate a positive and significant influence between the variables of human resources, materials, equipment amd implementation methods. This study's results obtained from the R square for the contractor performance variable were 0.809. It means that the percentage of human, material, equipment, implementation methods and information technology resources is 80.9%, while other factors influence the remaining 19.1%.

Abstract

The use of fly ash or fly ash is still minimally applied in Indonesia. The percentage of fly ash utilization is only 10-12% with 73% on Java Island and 27% on other islands, so there will be an accumulation of fly ash of up to 10.4 million tons per year by 2027. Abundant fly ash can be utilized by making lightweight brick the main composition as a substitute for cement called geopolymer lightweight brick. The fly ash used is class F with mechanical testing based on the Si/Al ratio. This research was conducted to analyze the effect of activator content on mechanical testing consisting of compressive strength, split tensile strength, and modulus of rupture in order to obtain the mechanical properties of lightweight geopolymer bricks. The higher of the activator content, got the greater Si/Al ratio. The ratios at activator levels of 35, 40, and 45% were 2.42; 2.45; and 2.48. The difference between split tensile strength and compressive strength for 35% activator content is 6.45%; 40% is 5.94%; and 45% is 6.04% so it is included in high quality lightweight brick. The level of activator has a significant effect on the compressive strength, split tensile strength, and modulus of rupture. The lower Si/Al ratio results in higher and better compressive strength, split tensile strength, and modulus of rupture.

Abstract

A landslide occurred in Sumbernanas village, Gedangan district, Malang regency. This incident caused the 50 m of the road along the Gedangan – Gondanglegi section to collapse as much as 3 m deep. Some repairs were attempted, however it did not bring expected results. This study aims to analyze the causes of the road collapse and develop effective methods of measurement. The research comprise; field observations, study of regional geological conditions, in-situ soil investigations, topographic measurements, data processing and analysis. Design parameters were determined through back-calculation analysis of the stability of the slopes at the time of the collapse. The results indicated that the collapse was caused by the combination of scouring of the river channel banks and soil softening as a result of groundwater infiltration. The proposed measurement method is installation of a gabion construction to function as a retaining wall. Based on structure calculations obtained, the safety factors are (SF)> 1,5 for the short term and SF> 1,1 for the long term.
