Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has driven the transformation of education systems in various countries, including Indonesia and Singapore. Although both nations have adopted technology in learning, there are differences in their levels of readiness, policies, and implementation effectiveness. This study aims to analyze and compare technology-based educational innovations in the Indonesian and Singaporean education systems and to identify the factors influencing successful implementation, serving as lessons for educational development in Indonesia. The study employs a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were gathered through an examination of various scholarly sources, including journal articles, books, government reports, and relevant academic publications. The findings indicate that Singapore has developed an integrated, technology-based education system through consistent policies, adequate digital infrastructure, and continuous teacher competency development. Meanwhile, Indonesia has pursued various innovations—such as education digitalization programs, the implementation of digital learning platforms, and the *Merdeka Belajar* (Freedom to Learn) policy—yet it continues to face challenges regarding infrastructure disparities, low digital literacy among educators, and uneven technology utilization across regions. The study concludes that strengthening policies, ensuring equitable digital infrastructure, and enhancing teacher capacity are strategic factors for accelerating technology-based educational transformation in Indonesia by adapting best practices from Singapore.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pedagogical competence of Pancasila Education teachers with non-education academic backgrounds and to identify the factors that hinder them in the learning process at SMP Negeri 31 Kerinci. The background of this problem stems from the presence of teachers with academic backgrounds in Public Administration and Government Science who teach the subject, which affects classroom instruction. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants involved were the school principal as the main informant, the teachers concerned as key informants, and students as additional informants. The results show that teachers' pedagogical competence has run fairly well in preparing teaching modules and utilizing basic technology, but overall it is still in an adaptation stage. Classroom management and approaches to students tend to be reactive, and evaluation still focuses on low-order cognitive skills (LOTS) without a systematic attitude assessment rubric. This condition is influenced by several inhibiting factors, such as limited basic pedagogical competence, facility constraints that trigger dependence on textbooks, and difficulty adjusting module time allocation to classroom dynamics. In addition, teachers also face constraints in adapting to the administration of the Merdeka Curriculum and difficulty designing evaluation instruments based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Overall, it can be concluded that although non-education background teachers have shown willingness, adaptation efforts, and good professional responsibility, their pedagogical competence has not yet fully reached the ideal standard, so continuous capacity building through structured training and mentoring is still needed.

Abstract

Sleep hygiene is an important behavioral factor associated with healthy sleep patterns, while bedtime procrastination refers to the tendency to delay bedtime without external reasons despite being aware of its negative consequences. University students are particularly vulnerable to bedtime procrastination due to academic demands, excessive digital media use, and poor self-regulation. This study aimed to examine the relationship between sleep hygiene and bedtime procrastination among undergraduate students at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 450 undergraduate students selected using quota sampling. Data were collected using the Adolescent Sleep Hygiene Scale (ASHS) and the Bedtime Procrastination Scale (BPS). Instrument validity was assessed using Corrected Item-Total Correlation, while reliability was evaluated using Cronbach’s Alpha. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, the linearity test, and Spearman’s Rank correlation. The results indicated that the instruments were valid and reliable (α = 0.855 for sleep hygiene; α = 0.803 for bedtime procrastination). Spearman’s correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between sleep hygiene and bedtime procrastination (ρ = 0.476, p < 0.001), indicating a moderate association. The findings suggest that better sleep hygiene is associated with lower levels of bedtime procrastination. Therefore, promoting healthy sleep habits may help reduce bedtime procrastination and improve students’ sleep quality and overall well-being.

Abstract

The growing emphasis on student centered learning has brought increasing attention to Project Based Learning (PjBL), particularly within elementary Science (IPA) and Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) instruction. Through handson, real world project activities, this model is thought to not only strengthen students' engagement in the learning process but also cultivate a stronger sense of environmental awareness. Building on this idea, the present study set out to explore how effective PjBL actually is in enhancing student engagement, learning outcomes, thinking skills, and environmental awareness at the elementary school level. To achieve this, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA framework, drawing on 21 nationally published articles from 2020 to 2026 that met a set of predetermined inclusion criteria and were subsequently examined through content analysis. Overall, the results indicate that PjBL consistently contributes to more active student engagement, improved learning outcomes, sharper critical and creative thinking, and heightened environmental awareness benefits that emerge most clearly when project activities are contextual and closely tied to students' everyday lives.

Abstract

Career maturity is developmental and psychological readiness that is very crucial for final year Vocational High School (SMK) students in facing the transition period from the world of education to the world of work or further education. This study aims to determine the relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy (self-confidence in career decision-making) and career maturity in grade XII students at SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. The research design used was quantitative correlational involving 269 respondents who were selected using the proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using the Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Indonesia Scale (CDMSE-Ind) and the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) adaptation scale. Because the relationships between variables are not linear, hypothesis testing is carried out using Spearman Rank correlation analysis. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity in grade XII students of SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi (r = 0.044; p = 0.471 > 0.05), so the alternative hypothesis was rejected. This indicates that a high level of students' self-confidence in making career decisions is not necessarily a predictor of their high career maturity. These results lead to the conclusion that career maturity is a complex concept that is likely to be more predominantly influenced by other factors, such as parental support, field work practice experience (PKL), and career guidance programs in schools. Therefore, optimizing career counseling guidance services and providing adequate career information is needed to improve the career maturity of vocational school students as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of teacher code switching and code mixing in English classroom interaction and their role in encouraging student participation during the learning process. The research was conducted in Grade X AP 2 at SMK Mutiara Terpadu Palabuhanratu using a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The participants consisted of one English teacher and the students of the selected class, five of whom were interviewed in depth. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews with the teacher and students, documentation, and transcription of classroom interaction, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that the teacher employed three types of code switching—inter-sentential switching (119 utterances), intra-sentential switching (51 utterances), and extra-sentential switching (2 utterances)—as well as two types of code mixing, namely alternation (119 utterances) and insertion (53 utterances). These strategies were applied to explain learning materials, give instructions, overcome students’ language barriers, adapt language use to students’ proficiency levels, and maintain smooth classroom interaction. The results further reveal that teacher code switching and code mixing helped create learning conditions in which students could understand the material more easily, participate in discussions, answer and ask questions, follow instructions, and interact more confidently. Thus, teacher code switching and code mixing function as pedagogical communication strategies that support classroom interaction and encourage student participation in EFL learning.

This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research was conducted at SMA Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Malang involving tenth-grade students and a Pancasila Education teacher as research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the use of interactive PPT learning media had a positive impact on the Pancasila Education learning process. Students demonstrated positive responses because the learning media were considered attractive, easy to understand, and capable of increasing students’ focus and learning motivation. In addition, the use of interactive PPT media improved students’ participation in classroom activities, such as asking questions, answering questions, and engaging in classroom discussions. However, several obstacles were found, including excessive text in the PPT slides and technical problems with learning devices. Therefore, the development of more creative, interactive, and contextual learning media is needed to create a more effective and enjoyable learning process

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low geography learning outcomes of grade X students at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Learning tends to be teacher-centered, students tend to be passive in learning activities so that students easily feel bored and their concentration levels decrease. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of using the Round Robin Brainstorming method on basic mapping material in improving geography learning outcomes. This study uses quantitative research with experimental methods. This study uses a quasi-experimental research design, namely a method to determine cause and effect relationships. The sample of this study amounted to 30 people, with data collection techniques through tests and documentation. The statistical tests of this study include normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and hypothesis tests. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the Round Robin Brainstorming learning model is proven to be more effective than conventional learning models in improving geography learning outcomes. This is proven in the experimental class where the N-gain value is 76.36%, included in the "effective" category, while the control class obtained a value of 42.42%, included in the "less effective" category. Independent Sample Test, the significance level value is 0.000<0.05, so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that the Round Robin Brainstorming learning model is effective in improving student learning outcomes.
