Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the School Operational Assistance Fund (BOSP) guidance program at the junior secondary school level in Jambi City. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research informants consisted of the Head of the Junior Secondary Education Division of the Jambi City Education Office, the BOSP Management Team of the Jambi City Education Office, and principals from one public and one private junior secondary school selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Data trustworthiness was ensured through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The findings indicate that the implementation of the BOSP guidance program in Jambi City has been carried out effectively based on the indicators of program understanding, target accuracy, timeliness, goal attainment, and tangible outcomes. Guidance activities, including socialization, technical assistance, coaching clinics, and support in the use of the ARKAS application, have enhanced schools' understanding and compliance with BOSP management, resulting in more orderly, transparent, and accountable financial governance. However, several challenges remain, including frequent regulatory changes, disparities in the competencies of BOSP management personnel, and delays in fund disbursement. In addition, the evaluation of the guidance program has primarily focused on administrative compliance and has not comprehensively assessed its impact on educational quality improvement. Therefore, future guidance programs should emphasize strengthening the competencies of BOSP managers, improving performance-based monitoring and evaluation systems, and developing success indicators that are oriented toward enhancing the quality of education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop game-based learning media using the Wordwall website and to determine its feasibility and effectiveness in improving the economics learning outcomes of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 5 Medan regarding the topic of Markets and Economic Activities. The study was motivated by the fact that the economics learning evaluation process was still being conducted using conventional paper-based methods, which failed to sufficiently engage students or spark their interest during lessons. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed, utilizing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. Participants were selected via purposive sampling: Class X-9 served as the experimental group using the Wordwall-based media, while Class X-12 served as the control group using conventional instruction. Media feasibility was assessed by three validators, a media expert, a subject matter expert, and an instructional practitioner, while effectiveness was measured through pre-test and post-test results analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test and N-Gain test. The results indicate that the game-based learning media on Wordwall is highly feasible for use, with validation scores of 90.8% from the media expert, 97.1% from the subject matter expert, and 97.2% from the instructional practitioner, resulting in an average score of 95% (categorized as “highly feasible”). The Independent Sample T-Test yielded a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups. The N-Gain test showed a 0.70 gain for the experimental group and a 0.55 gain for the control group. Thus, it can be concluded that the game-based learning media on Wordwall is both feasible and effective for use as an evaluation tool in economics education to improve the learning outcomes of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 5 Medan.

Abstract

Buffer solutions are one of the more abstract and complex topics in chemistry because they involve the interplay of macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic representations, and require the ability to analyze and calculate pH. Based on interviews with chemistry teachers at SMAN 9 Padang, it was found that in the 2024/2025 academic year, 45% of 11th-grade students had not met the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP) for the topic of buffer solutions. One effort to address this issue is the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based e-module on buffer solutions integrated with Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL). This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a PBL-based e-module on buffer solutions integrated with TaRL on the cognitive learning outcomes of Phase F students at SMAN 9 Padang. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of Class XI Moving Chemistry 4 as the experimental class and Class XI Moving Chemistry 5 as the control class, both selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument consisted of a 15-item multiple-choice objective test administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) instruction. The results showed that the average posttest score for the experimental class (80.44) was higher than that of the control class (67.56). The average N-gain score for the experimental class was 0.744, which falls into the high category, while that of the control class was 0.568, which falls into the moderate category. The independent samples t-test yielded a t-value of 4.53. Thus, the PBL-based buffer solution e-module integrated with TaRL can improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Films function not only as entertainment but also as a medium for representing psychological development and educational values. Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2022) portrays Kartika's psychological growth as she pursues education despite experiencing parental loss and social adversity. This study aims to analyze the representation of Kartika's developmental psychology by applying Erikson's Psychosocial Development Theory and Lazarus and Folkman's Cognitive Appraisal Theory. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design using twenty-eight selected scenes as the primary data. The data were collected through documentation and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings indicate that Kartika's psychological development is represented through three major aspects: parental emotional support that fosters competence and learning motivation, adaptive coping strategies that strengthen resilience in overcoming adversity, and educational experiences that shape her professional identity as a lawyer committed to justice. These findings suggest that education is represented not only as academic achievement but also as a process of psychological development that builds resilience, identity, and moral responsibility. This study contributes to literary psychology by explaining the relationship between education, developmental psychology, and coping in cinematic narratives.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability constitutes one of the fundamental competency’s students must possess to face the demands of twenty-first-century learning, particularly in physics, which requires not only conceptual mastery but also the capacity to analyze and resolve contextual problems systematically. This study aims to describe the initial condition of students' problem-solving ability on the topic of work and energy prior to any instructional intervention. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, involving 26 grade-X students of SMAN 4 Pariaman as the try-out sample, together with structured interviews with three physics teachers as supporting data. The instrument consisted of a two-item essay test developed based on Polya's four problem-solving indicators: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. The results show that the average problem-solving ability reached only 28.26%, categorized as low. The indicator of understanding the problem attained the highest percentage (50%, moderate category), whereas devising a plan (22.12%), carrying out the plan (23.08%), and looking back (28.85%) remained in the low category. Interview results corroborate these findings, revealing that problem-solving-oriented assessment is rarely administered and that learning media remain limited to slides and videos. These findings indicate an urgent need for instructional innovation, such as the Problem Based Learning model supported by interactive web-based media, to systematically train students' problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Beginning reading is a fundamental skill that first-grade elementary school students must master as the foundation for participating effectively in the learning process. However, some students still experience reading difficulties, such as recognizing letters, distinguishing between similar-looking letters, and reading simple words and sentences. This study aims to describe students' beginning reading skills, identify the reading difficulties they experience, and analyze the factors contributing to these difficulties among first-grade students at SDN Sungai Andai 4 Banjarmasin. This study employed a qualitative approach with a narrative research design. The research subjects consisted of first-grade students who experienced reading difficulties and the classroom teacher as a supporting informant. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation. The findings revealed that the beginning reading skills of some students were still at the initial stage, as indicated by limited letter recognition, reading by spelling out words, and a lack of fluency in reading simple words and sentences. The identified reading difficulties included recognizing and distinguishing letters, reading fluently, and comprehending reading texts. These difficulties were influenced by internal factors, such as low learning interest and motivation, and external factors, including limited family support and a lack of reading habits at home. Therefore, appropriate instructional strategies tailored to students' needs are required to improve their beginning reading skills.

Abstract

Numeracy skills are essential competencies that enable elementary school students to solve mathematical problems in real-life contexts. However, students’ numeracy achievement remains relatively low due to the predominance of conventional teaching approaches. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by Scratch game media on the numeracy skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group. The participants consisted of 32 fifth-grade students at SDN Sidokepung II Sidoarjo, divided into an experimental class (n = 16) and a control class (n = 16). Data were collected through an essay-based numeracy test and classroom observation sheets. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Mann–Whitney U test. The findings revealed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean posttest score (86.81) than the control class (47.62). The Mann–Whitney U test indicated a significance value of p < 0.001, demonstrating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Furthermore, classroom implementation and student activity reached 92.5% and 89%, respectively, indicating very good learning quality. These findings suggest that the Realistic Mathematics Education model assisted by Scratch game media effectively improves elementary school students’ numeracy skills and promotes active participation during mathematics learning.
