Abstract

Bunga sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) merupakan tanaman semak kelompok Malvaceae yang berasal dari Asia Timur dan banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai pagar hidup maupun tanaman hias didaerah subtropis dan tropis. Bunga sepatu dulu banyak digunakankan sebagai pewarna alami untuk makanan. Bunga sepatu mengandung pigmen warna antosianin. Pemanfaatan antosianin telah banyak dilakukankan salah satunya pewarna produk makanan maupun minuman. Pewarna alami antosianin semakin banyak diminati karena dapat mengurangi penggunaan pewarna sintetik yang memiliki sifat toksik serta tidak ramah lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan ekstrak bunga sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) sebagai pewarna alami pengganti eosin pada pengecatan diff quik. Sampel yang digunaakan untuk membuat sediaan sitologi berasal dari kerokan mukosa bukal. Bagian kelopak bunga sepatu yang diambil dan dikeringakan, kemudian diekstrak dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa sediaan yang dapat terwarnai dengan baik pada konsentrasi ekstrak 0,5 gr/ml yang ditambahkan HCl 1% dengan waktu perendaman 30 menit. Serta pada konsntrasi ektrak 0,7 gr/ml dengan waktu perendaman 15 menit sel dapat terwarnai dengan cukup baik.

Abstract

Pseudomonas aeruginosamerupakan bakteri yang menginfeksi manusia yang sering ditemui pada kulit yang mengalami luka/trauma. Untuk penyembuhan luka infeksi menggunakan antibiotik tetapi banyaknya kasus resistensi terhadap antibiotik membuat angka infeksi semakin tinggi karena bakteri yang ada dalam tubuh semakin berkembang. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh enzim bromelin pada mahkota nanas (Ananas comosus) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Metode maserasi digunakan untuk mengekstraksi mahkota nanas dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Ekstrak mahkota nanas diidentifikasi enzim bromelin dengan spektrofotometer serta dilakukan uji efektifitas enzim bromelin pada mahkota nans (Ananas comosus) dengan konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100% dalam menenkan pertumbuhan Pseudomonas aeruginosadengan metode difusi sumuran. Sebagai kontrol positif uji menggunakan Chloramphenicol dan sebagai kontrol negatif menggunakan larutan Pz yang sudah steril. Hasil kadar identifikasi enzim bromelin yang didapatkan pada mahkota nanas (Ananas comosus) adalah 0,153 U/mL. Uji daya hambat yang termasuk kategori sensitif hanya pada konsentrasi 100%. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak mahkota nanas 25% dan 50% berbeda nyata dengan ekstrak mahkota nanas konsentrasi 75% dan 100%.

Abstract

Thyroid hormone has an important role in various body metabolic processes (proteins, carbohydrates, lipids) and physiological activities in almost all organs of the human body. Deficiency or excess of thyroid hormone can interfere with the metabolism of the body's organs. Hypothyroidism is a condition in which thyroid hormone in body tissues decreases, while hyperthyroidism is an excess of thyroid hormone circulating in the circulation due to a hyperactive thyroid gland. It also exerts a specific effect on lipid metabolism. In disorders of thyroid function, lipid metabolism will be disrupted, causing risk factors for cardiovascular disease, one of which is atherosclerosis (blockage/plaque) in blood vessels. In the case of hypothyroidism, there is often an increase in LDL-cholesterol levels, while in hyperthyroidism, there is often a decrease in LDL-cholesterol levels. Diagnosis of thyroid function disorders FT4 and TSH laboratory tests become the standard for establishing an appropriate thyroid diagnosis. This study aims to determine the relationship between thyroid disorders, especially FT4 and TSH, on LDL-cholesterol levels. The study used descriptive data taken at the Pramita Clinical Laboratory, Surabaya in January – December 2019. The data collected came from the medical records of patients who did FT4, TSH and LDL-Cholesterol examinations as many as 80 people consisting of 22 men and 58 women with a range of age 22-81 years. From the data, the characteristics of the sexes are male (27.5%), female (72.5%). In hyperthyroidism, the mean levels of TSH (0.0612 IU/mL), FT4 (1.53 ng/dl), LDL-Cholesterol (99 mg/dl) while hypothyroidism mean TSH levels (17.427 IU/mL), FT4 (0 ,92 ng/dl), LDL-Cholesterol (130 mg/dl). Bivariate correlation analysis was used to see the relationship between levels of FT4 with LDL-cholesterol and TSH with LDL-cholesterol. From the data obtained, there is a positive correlation between TSH and LDL-cholesterol levels in hypothyroid disorders and a negative correlation between FT4 and LDL levels in hyperthyroidism. Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases of impaired glucose intolerance that is closely related to renal vascular breast milk degener abnormalities that begin with the presence of microalbuminuria. Increased serum creatinine levels indicate impaired kidney function. Serum microalbuminuria and creatininelevels are important tocheck because they are indicators of the course of diabetes mellitus. The goal of this study was to examine the ratio of albumin-creatinine urine in people with diabetes mellitus can be used as an early detection of impaired kidney function and see an association between the ratio of urinary creatin albumin and serum creatinine levels. The urine albumin examination method uses immunoturbidimetric assay using the Jaffe method. The subjects of the examination were dm sufferers who conducted fasting blood glucose and HbA1c examinations at Pramita Clinic Laboratory Surabaya. From the results of the study obtained the ratio of albumin creatin urine and serum creatinine in people with DM mostly showed an increase in the ratio of urinary creatin creatin of 117.10 mg / g, while the average results of serum creatinine examination are still within the normal limit, which is 1.0 mg / dl. From this study proves that examination of the ratio of creatin creatin urine can be used as an early detection of kidney function disorders. Abstract

Indonesian women have four times higher rates of osteoporosis than men. This is caused by aging and the hormone estrogen, which halts production at menopause. Tumor Necrosis Factor-? (TNF-?) and other inflammatory cytokines play a role in the process of bone loss caused by an imbalance of osteoblast and osteoclast activity. This study aims to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at the Elderly Integrated Service Post (Posyandu Lansia) based on the value of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) with lumbar T-score and TNF-levels and to analyze various possible relationships between the two. The research method has two stages. The first stage is screening activities at the Posyandu Lansia according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria using a questionnaire and measuring the BMD (bone mineral density) value with a sonometer. The second stage involves establishing the diagnosis of osteoporosis in 58 postmenopausal women with Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA) and taking serum for analysis of TNF-? levels. TNF-? levels were determined using the ELISA.The results showed that the prevalence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at the Posyandu Lansia was 60.3% based on the value of bone mass density with a lumbar T-score. The percentage of the respondent group with TNF-? levels below the limit value on the standard curve for normal people in the kit (15.6 pg/mL) was 50%. Relationship analysis showed that there was no association between TNF-? levels and BMD values at the lumbar T-score (p value = 0.063 > 0.05). The same thing was also shown in the relationship between the osteoporosis group (Categories 1 and 2) and TNF-? levels (p-values of 0.864 and 0.788 respectively. Analysis of the relationship in this study needs to be carried out more deeply because of the classic and paradoxical effects of TNF-? on the role of osteoclastogenesis.Keywords: osteoporosis, TNF-?, lumbar T-score, postmenopause women

Abstract

The Aedes aegypti mosquito is a type of mosquito that carries dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and carriers of other diseases. AEdes aegypti mosquitoes usually breed in clean water containers that are used for daily needs - today. Vector control programs around the world are a strategic key in the eradication oflarvae Aedes sp. The use of larvicides is one way to control dengue vectors, while as an alternative to the control Aedes aegypti of resistant, biological insecticides can be used, using basil leaf extract (Ocimum basilicum) which has a larvicidal character. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effectiveness of basil leaf extract (Ocimum basilicum) as a biolarvicide against mosquito larvae of Aedes aegypti instar III from each concentration. This study uses a type of laboratory experimental research and the sample in this study was the larvae ofmosquito Aedes Aegypti the third instarwhich was divided into several groups, namely the control group and the treatment group with variations in concentration observed at 24 hours repeating 3 times in the same way. The results of this experimentthere was a significant effect on the addition of a solution of basil (leaf extractshowedOcimum bacillicumthat)starting with a concentration of 20% to 100% on the percentage of mortality ofthird instar larvae. Abstract

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a therapy that uses 100% oxygen concentration. This is closely related to hyperoxygenation. Hyperbaric therapy is becoming second-line therapy for diseases related to cell recovery. In the medicine, MMP-9 is thought to increase the incidence of cancer metastasis. This is usually a contraindication to present HBO therapy and based on the results of our study, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can reduce the expression of MMP-9 when combined with primary therapy (radiotherapy). Abstract

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is an endocrine disorder characterized by anovulation and hyperandrogenism. It was found that about ±10% of women of reproductive age cause infertility so that it becomes a burden for partners physically, psychologically and materially. Increasing age affects a woman's fertility and menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle in women is influenced by hormones, depression, weight, and lifestyle. Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) is released by the hypothalamus through a secretory process every 90 – 120 minutes which then binds to gonadotropin cells and stimulates Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH). FSH, LH levels will increase after puberty, FSH, LH, Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH) and estradiol are very important in folliculogenesis. However, the interactions between the four hormones are not yet fully understood. The purpose of this review was to determine the correlation between LH/FSH Ratio, AMH and Estradiol in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This understanding is expected to increase knowledge about the pathophysiology of PCOS. This study uses secondary data from the Pramita Surabaya Clinic laboratory which is examined for reproductive hormones. Data from 228 women aged < 35 years with an average LH/FSH ratio (0.61), AMH (3.56 ng/dL), and estradiol (34.42 pg/mL) and 172 women aged 35 years with a mean ratio of LH/FSH (0.54), AMH (2.93 ng/dL), and estradiol (36.60 pg/mL). LH, FSH, AMH and Estradiol examinations were performed on the 2-4th day of menstruation. Bivariate correlation analysis was used to see the relationship between AMH and the LH/FSH ratio and AMH and estradiol. From the results, there was a positive correlation between the AMH value and the LH/FSH ratio and a positive correlation between AMH and Estradiol which showed that AMH had an effect on the secretion of LH, FSH and Estradiol. Keywords: infertility, LH/FSH, AMH, estradiol, SOPK

Abstract

The hands are one of the media for spreading pathogenic germs, which by washing hands are expected to reduce or kill these germs.  Under certain conditions, running water sources and soap are not available.  Hand sanitizer is an antiseptic that is used to clean the hands if no water and soap are found. The content of substances that are antiseptic, such as betel leaf extract in hand sanitizer is reported to reduce the number of germs. The goal of the study was to compare the total number of germs on the palms after using a commercial hand sanitizer that contained and did not contain betel leaf extract. This type of research uses comparative analytical observational studies using a cross-sectional approach.  The sample used in this study was as many as 18 health workers at LabKesDa Surabaya who used commercial hand sanitizer products with and without betel leaf extract. Supporting data on the study was a questionnaire given to respondents. The results of the swab of the palm and between the fingers of the respondents after using the hand sanitizer were tested by Mann Whitney and obtained a significance value of 0.000 < a= 0.05, meaning that there is a difference in the total number of germs on the palm and between fingers that use hand sanitizer with and without betel leaf extract. Abstract

Hormon tiroid mempunyai peran yang penting terhadap berbagai proses metabolisme tubuh (protein, karbohidrat, lipid) dan aktivitas fisologis pada hampir seluruh organ tubuh manusia. Kekurangan atau kelebihan hormon tiroid dapat mengganggu metabolisme organ tubuh. Hipotiroid merupakan suatu keadaan dimana hormon tiroid di jaringan tubuh menurun, sedangkan hipertiroid adalah kelebihan hormon tiroid yang beredar dalam sirkulasi akibat kelenjar tiroid yang hiperaktif. Hal tersebut juga memberikan efek spesifik terhadap metabolisme lipid. Pada gangguan fungsi tiroid, metabolisme lipid akan terganggu sehingga menimbulkan faktor resiko penyakit kardiovaskular salah satunya arterosklerosis (penyumbatan/plak) pada pembuluh darah. Pada kasus kelainan   hipotiroid seringkali terjadi peningkatan kadar LDL-Kolesterol sedangkan hipertiroid seringkali terjadi penurunan kadar LDL-Kolesterol.Diagnosa gangguan fungsi tiroid pemeriksaan laboratorium FT4 dan TSH menjadi standar penegakkan diagnosa tiroid yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan gangguan tiroid terutama FT4 dan TSH terhadap kadar LDL-Kolesterol. Penelitian menggunakan data deskriptif yang diambil di Laboratorium Klinik Pramita Surabaya pada bulan Januari – Desember 2019. Data dikumpulkan berasal dari rekam medis pasien yang melakukan pemeriksaan FT4, TSH dan LDL-Kolesterol sebanyak 80 orang yang terdiri dari 22 laki-laki dan 58 perempuan dengan rentang usia 22-81 tahun. Dari data diperoleh karakteristik jenis kelamin laki-laki (27,5%), perempuan (72,5%). Pada kelainan hipertiroid diperoleh rerata kadar TSH (0,0612 µIU/mL), FT4 (1,53 ng/dl), LDL-Kolesterol (99 mg/dl) sedangkan hipotiroid rerata kadar TSH (17,427 µIU/mL), FT4 (0,92 ng/dl), LDL-Kolesterol (130 mg/dl). Analisa korelasi bivariat digunakan untuk melihat hubungan antara kadar FT4 dengan LDL-Kolesterol serta TSH dengan LDL-Kolesterol. Dari data yang diperoleh didapatkan korelasi positif antara kadar TSH dan LDL-Kolesterol pada kelainan hipotirod serta korelasi  negatif antara kadar FT4 dan LDL pada hipertiroid. Dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil gangguan fungsi tiroid berpengaruh pada peningkatan/penurunan kadar LDL Kolesterol.
