Abstract

This study aims to analyze various studies on the numeracy literacy of blind students using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The articles analyzed were selected based on inclusion criteria in the form of relevant research in the period 2017–2024, as well as exclusion criteria that include research that is not empirically based or does not focus on blind students. The analysis was conducted using a thematic synthesis approach to group the main findings from the reviewed literature. The results of the study indicate that the numeracy literacy skills of blind students are still below national education standards. The main difficulties they face lie in understanding abstract mathematical concepts, limited access to adaptive learning media, and lack of pedagogical support that suits their needs. Learning strategies that have been proven effective include the use of tactile methods such as jarimatika and braille media, technology-based approaches such as flipped classrooms and digital applications, and contextual learning that involves direct experience. Internal factors such as learning styles and motivation, as well as external factors such as teacher training and environmental support, greatly influence the achievement of numeracy literacy in blind students. This study shows the importance of a systematic and evidence-based approach in developing learning strategies for blind students. Therefore, increasing the accessibility of learning media and training for educators are important steps to create a more inclusive and effective learning environment.

Abstract

Integrating Augmented Reality (AR) in vocational high schools presents a transformative opportunity for vocational education; however, its efficacy hinges critically on teachers' acceptance and pedagogical adaptation. This study explores vocational high school teachers' views on using Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance practical learning and student engagement in vocational education. Augmented reality holds great potential as a learning tool, especially in the Visual Communication Design department at Vocational High School. This qualitative study employed a phenomenological research design to examine vocational teachers' lived experiences with augmented reality (AR) in instruction. Six purposively selected vocational teachers from West Sulawesi, Indonesia, participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews, enabling detailed exploration of their perceptions, challenges, and contextual adoption strategies. Thematic analysis was performed using ATLAS.ti 2023, revealing two key themes: the strengths and weaknesses of PowerPoint or Canva media, and the benefits of augmented reality. The study found that while PowerPoint or Canva had more weaknesses than strengths for photography subjects, augmented reality proved to be highly effective in improving student comprehension, thanks to its 3D features and new technology. Schools should prioritize teacher training programs, implement pilot projects in specific technical fields, and foster government-industry partnerships for resource support to maximize AR's potential. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies of AR's educational impact and the development of affordable, customizable AR solutions tailored to vocational training needs, ensuring this technology effectively bridges the gap between classroom learning and workplace skill requirements.

Abstract

The rapid development of globalization demands that education focus not only on academic aspects but also on the preservation of cultural identity and the development of students' character. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the needs for developing a character education learning model based on local culture. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative, involving 100 elementary school teachers from 10 cities and regencies in Bengkulu Province as participants. Data were collected through needs assessment questionnaires, curriculum analysis, and student characteristic analysis, and were then analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis techniques. The results showed that 92% of teachers agreed that culturally based learning helps students understand character values, 88% stated it enhances student engagement, and 90% expressed the need for a learning model grounded in local culture. Furthermore, 94% of teachers preferred a model that involves direct experiences such as discussions and cultural exploration. However, 87% acknowledged the absence of a systematic model to integrate local culture and character values. Curriculum analysis indicated that the proposed learning model is relevant to be applied in the elements of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and NKRI from grades 1 to 6. Cognitively, elementary students are at the concrete operational stage, showing a tendency to learn through direct experiences and tangible objects. Psychologically and socially, they enjoy playing, interacting with peers, and are beginning to develop social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and conflict resolution. Therefore, the development of a character education model based on local culture is urgently needed and considered feasible for systematic implementation in the learning process.

Abstract

Pedagogical competence is one of the competencies that every teacher must possess, consisting of the ability to understand the characteristics of students, design and implement educational learning, and conduct comprehensive learning evaluations. In elementary education, pedagogical competence is crucial for creating meaningful and student-centered learning experiences. In this context, enhancing teachers' pedagogical competence in elementary schools is a critical issue for improving the quality of education in Indonesia, given the strategic role teachers play in designing, implementing, and evaluating the learning process. This study aims to analyze strategies to improve the pedagogical competence of primary school teachers in Indonesia through a literature review. The method used is a systematic literature review, namely by analyzing 10 articles published in accredited national and international journals between 2015 and 2025. The parts reviewed include abstracts, backgrounds, research results, and conclusions on each article reviewed. Based on the results of the review, it can be concluded that some of the ways that can be done to improve teachers' pedagogical abilities are conducting structured and continuous supervision by school principals so that teachers are able to design Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), manage classroom learning well and implement better assessments. In addition, the implementation of innovative learning strategies is also able to optimize the learning process in the classroom by implementing lesson study learning strategies based on the results of observation and reflection. Teachers need to utilize technological advances in learning, collaborate between teachers and school stakeholders so as to improve their pedagogical competence and attend training that can improve teacher skills in teaching. Further research is needed to test the effectiveness of strategies to improve teachers' pedagogical competencies directly in order to expand the scope of study in the field of elementary schools and inclusive schools, especially in disadvantaged areas, which will form the basis for policy formulation in efforts to improve teacher competencies in a sustainable manner in Indonesia.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization and technological development, the world of education has entered a period known as the 5.0 era, where technology is not only a tool but also an integral part of human life, including the learning process. In the world of education, technology should be utilized to improve the quality of learning. Quality learning will make it easier for students to achieve their learning objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the influence of digital comics on the short story writing skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Gedangan. The method used was a quantitative experiment, one group pretest-posttest design, with a sample size of 15 students. Data analysis was performed using a t-test, and the results showed a sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 in the one-sample t-test. The sig. value of 0.000 is less than 0.05, meaning that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of digital comic media in teaching short story writing skills to fifth-grade students at SDN Gedangan has improved their skills. The results obtained after conducting the study indicate that digital media tailored to students' needs can serve as a new innovation in classroom learning and foster creative ideas among students.

Abstract

Analytical skills in understanding and interpreting news texts are essential in Indonesian language learning, particularly in shaping students’ critical thinking. Initial observations at SMP Negeri 29 Medan indicated that students still tended to understand texts literally and had difficulty distinguishing between facts and opinions. This study aims to determine the effect of the Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) learning model on the analytical skills of seventh-grade students in interpreting news texts. The research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The sample consisted of 32 students from class VII-8, selected using the quota sampling technique. The instrument used was a multiple-choice test measuring the ability to identify facts and opinions, understand text structure, and evaluate the content of information. The results showed an increase in the average score from 48.91 to 70.31. The normality test indicated a normal data distribution (p > 0.05), and the paired t-test showed a significant difference (p = 0.000). The average N-Gain score of the 32 students was 0.4452, which falls into the “moderate” improvement category. These findings indicate that the TAI model not only significantly improves students’ analytical abilities but also contributes theoretically to supporting cooperative learning approaches based on social constructivism. Practically, TAI can serve as an alternative strategy for strengthening critical literacy in Indonesian language learning aligned with the Kurikulum Merdeka.
