Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools requires strategies that connect the material to students’ real-life experiences to make it more meaningful. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is one model that encourages active engagement through project completion. This study aims to analyze the implementation of PjBL in science learning on the topic of mung bean growth at SD Negeri 42 Pekanbaru. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with the participants consisting of fourth-grade students and the classroom teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PjBL can enhance student engagement and foster collaboration, communication, discipline, and responsibility skills. Challenges encountered—such as weak time management, limited information literacy, and lack of presentation experience—can be addressed through teacher mentoring strategies, structured scheduling, provision of additional learning resources, and presentation practice. It can thus be concluded that PjBL is effective in creating meaningful, contextual, and enjoyable science learning while simultaneously fostering independence and 21st-century skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate Beladikar (Character Education Song Bell), a Windows-based digital application that integrates an automatic school bell with national and regional songs to strengthen elementary students’ discipline and patriotism. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with data analyzed through descriptive statistics. Expert validation indicated the application was “highly feasible,” with mean scores of 90% (content experts) and 92% (media experts). A practicality test involving 10 teachers and one school operator obtained a 91.3% positive response. Effectiveness trials with 120 students showed an average achievement of 85.5%, reflecting significant improvement in punctuality, orderly behavior, and enthusiasm in singing patriotic songs. The findings demonstrate that Beladikar not only supports time management in schools but also embeds character values consistently, thereby contributing to a positive school climate. However, the study was limited by a short trial period and restricted sample scope. Future research is recommended to involve broader educational contexts and enrich the application with interactive and mobile-based features.

Abstract

This study is motivated by issues in teachers’ pedagogical competence, which directly affect the quality of learning. Pedagogical competence is a key ability in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning, yet many teachers still face challenges in its application. Two factors presumed to influence pedagogical competence are principals’ transformational leadership and work culture. The objectives of this study are to examine: (1) the effect of principals’ transformational leadership on teachers’ pedagogical competence, (2) the effect of work culture on teachers’ pedagogical competence, and (3) the simultaneous effect of both factors on the pedagogical competence of elementary school teachers in Pabelan District, Semarang Regency. The research employed a quantitative correlational design. The population consisted of 193 elementary school teachers, with a sample of 130 teachers selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and analyzed using classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, and multiple regression. The results revealed that (1) transformational leadership has a significant positive effect on pedagogical competence (t = 10.909 > t-table = 1.978) with a contribution of 48.20% (moderate category); (2) work culture also has a significant positive effect (t = 10.181 > t-table = 1.978) with a contribution of 44.70% (moderate category); and (3) multiple regression analysis confirmed that both variables jointly influence pedagogical competence, contributing 60% (strong category). These findings emphasize that optimal transformational leadership and a solid work culture can significantly enhance teachers’ pedagogical competence.

Abstract

Lengger Lanang is a traditional Banyumas dance art whose existence is threatened by changes in public perception. This art, which originally functioned as a ritual for Dewi Sri and even a war tactic during the Diponegoro era, has experienced a shift in values due to the stigma against cross-gender culture. This study aims to design educational media to preserve Lengger Lanang by providing an in-depth perspective on the history and lives of its dancers. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with creative methods. Data collection was carried out through literature studies, observations, and in-depth interviews with Lengger Lanang dancers. Data were analyzed thematically to identify key narratives. The results show that the philosophical values of Lengger Lanang are far deeper than just a cross-gender performance. Three main narratives were identified: (1) spirituality and its relationship to agriculture, (2) heroism and cultural strategies in fighting colonialism, and (3) the struggle for identity and dedication of Lengger Lanang dancers who maintain tradition. These narratives were then realized in the design of a photographic novel book that combines strong visuals with narrative text. The photographic novel book has proven effective as a strategic medium for educating the public. This media successfully shifted the focus from gender stigma to an appreciation of the historical, artistic, and human interest values behind the Lengger Lanang mask. The study's conclusions recommend the use of a narrative-based creative design approach to preserve other intangible cultural heritage.

Abstract

Midwifery education faces challenges in preparing students for diverse clinical situations, where the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application becomes a crucial problem affecting the quality of maternal and neonatal healthcare services. This study aims to systematically analyze the effect of OSCE simulation on clinical skills readiness of midwifery students through systematic literature review, with emphasis on the novelty of high-fidelity technology and virtual reality implementation in midwifery OSCE assessment. The research method used systematic literature review with analysis of ten scientific articles consisting of five international journals and five national journals published between 2021-2025, with systematic search through PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, and DOAJ databases using relevant keywords, then analyzed using thematic analysis and narrative synthesis according to PRISMA guidelines. Findings show that OSCE simulation significantly improves clinical skills readiness of midwifery students, with innovative high-fidelity and virtual reality technologies demonstrating superior effectiveness - VR technology achieving skills improvement up to 27.70%, high-fidelity simulation providing average improvement of 13.89 points, and competency-based simulation showing significant improvement (p < 0.001) with effects lasting up to 6 weeks. The novelty lies in the integration of immersive technologies that transform traditional OSCE assessment into technology-enhanced learning experiences, enabling midwifery students to practice complex obstetric scenarios safely. Clinical skills readiness is measured through four main attributes: professional skills, communication, self-management, and self-confidence. OSCE simulation proves effective in comprehensively improving midwifery students' clinical skills readiness, with implementation recommendations for high-fidelity technology adoption, competency-based approaches, and integrated digital platforms for learning optimization in midwifery education.

Abstract

The automatic grade promotion policy has been introduced in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the elementary school level to create inclusive and psychologically supportive learning environments. However, this policy has sparked debates regarding its effectiveness in maintaining educational quality. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the automatic grade promotion policy in elementary schools in Cakung District, East Jakarta. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm, utilizing the Discrepancy Evaluation Model (DEM) covering five stages: definition, installation, process, product, and program comparison. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis involving fifth-grade students, teachers, principals, and parents from four public elementary schools. The findings indicate that the policy aligns with the differentiation principles of the Merdeka Curriculum and is supported by institutional readiness through teacher coordination and student data management. Nevertheless, limited communication with parents has led to ethical dilemmas in assessment and a decline in student learning motivation. Overall, the automatic grade promotion policy contributes positively to students’ psychological well-being but requires strengthening through the establishment of minimum competency standards and more effective communication to ensure the quality of learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of strategic management in the development of SDN 006 Buahbatu, an elementary school in Bandung City, West Java, responding to institutional challenges in school planning and performance improvement. Using a qualitative case study method, the research adopts the strategic management framework by Wheelen and Hunger, comprising environmental scanning, strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, document analysis, and school performance reports. The findings show that contextual adaptation of strategic management—beginning with internal analysis of teacher capacity and external scanning of community characteristics—strengthens institutional planning, enhances instructional quality, and improves student outcomes. Notably, students' final exam scores increased by 20%, while student motivation and engagement rose by 75%. These results highlight the academic significance of integrating strategic management processes in primary education, particularly when inclusive planning and collaborative leadership are prioritised. The study contributes to the limited empirical literature on strategy application in primary schools by demonstrating a practical model for stakeholder-based institutional development. It offers both theoretical insight into context-responsive management practices and practical guidance for school leaders seeking sustainable improvement. Further research is recommended to examine comparative models across multiple institutions and to employ mixed methods for broader generalisation.
