Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a high degree of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, which presents complex challenges in the implementation of Islamic da'wah. The conventional da'wah approach that tends to be homogeneous is considered incapable of answering the needs of a pluralist society. Therefore, multicultural da'wah emerged as an alternative that emphasized the importance of respecting diversity and inclusivity. This research aims to examine the concept of multicultural da'wah, its implementation in Indonesia, and its impact on the creation of social harmony. The research uses a qualitative method with an analytical descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature studies, in-depth interviews with religious leaders, and field observations on communities that implement multicultural da'wah. The results of the study show that multicultural da'wah emphasizes interreligious dialogue, tolerance-based character education, and the use of social media as the main means of conveying the message of da'wah. Intensive interfaith dialogue helps create space for mutual respect, reduce prejudice, and strengthen solidarity in a diverse society. Multicultural education also plays an important role in instilling the values of tolerance from an early age. Meanwhile, social media has proven to be an effective platform to reach the younger generation, expand the reach of da'wah, and increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining social harmony. This study also found several challenges that hinder the effectiveness of multicultural da'wah, including resistance from conservative groups who still adhere to traditional approaches and low understanding of multicultural literacy among preachers. The conclusion of this study is that multicultural da'wah is relevant as a strategic approach in creating an inclusive, fair, and harmonious society in Indonesia. By integrating multicultural education, interfaith dialogue, and modern technology, multicultural da'wah can strengthen peace and prevent conflicts stemming from identity differences.

Abstract

The main focus of this research is to understand and examine the relationship between majority and minority groups in religious life in Indonesia. The author uses Levinas' philosophy of the face as a kind of analytical tool to explore and delve into this issue. The purpose of this paper is to reconstruct the relationship between majority and minority groups in Indonesia’s religious life through Levinas' thoughts, so that society can better understand religious coexistence amidst existing pluralism. The methodology used in this paper is library research. This paper finds that Emmanuel Levinas' concept of the philosophy of the face emphasizes the importance of the presence of “the Other” in human relationships. In Indonesia's religious life, this thought contributes to addressing the phenomenon of majority-minority relations that lead to radicalism, identity politics, terrorism, and the reduction of the presence of others, by stressing ethical responsibility in overcoming power relations. The philosophy of the face opens opportunities for humanistic dialogue, encourages respect for the Other, and fosters a harmonious religious life. Dialogue with people of different religions will increasingly enable individuals to better embrace pluralism. Moreover, its implementation in the Indonesian context does face challenges. Therefore, the thoughts of Hannah Arendt and Martin Buber can assist society in building a more inclusive and harmonious majority-minority relationship. In conclusion, Levinas' philosophy of the face serves as an inspiration to encourage ethical awareness, dialogue, and respect for “the Other” in Indonesia’s pluralistic society. This effort must also be supported by interdisciplinary approaches, incorporating thoughts from other philosophers and utilizing other sciences to address majority-minority issues in Indonesia.

Abstract

Al-Qur'an was revealed as a guide for all humans throughout time until the end of time. Therefore, the Koran must be maintained and guarded so that Muslims will not lose its guidance, namely by grounding it. Grounding Al-Qur'an means making efforts to be planned and systematic. Allah SWT asks mankind to preserve the Koran by memorizing it. This is a challenge that must be carried out by tahfidz teachers. The aim of this research is to find out what efforts should be made to improve students' memorization at SMP IT MTA Karanganyar. The approach used is qualitative which includes direct interaction with participants through the case study method. Data was collected through interviews, observation and document analysis. Data comes from tahfidz teachers while secondary data sources come from theses, journals and other supporting documents. Source triangulation is a method for verifying the validity of data by examining data obtained through triangulation of techniques and sources. The stages carried out are the process of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results obtained at SMP IT MTA Karanganyar were that teachers gave students freedom to memorize the Al-Qur'an, students were given freedom to choose the appropriate memorization method without ignoring the main goal of memorization. Apart from improving students' memorization of the AL-Qur'an, this learning activity can also be a spiritual process that requires dedication, consistency and sincerity of intention. The freedom in choosing the memorization method given by the tahfidz teacher to students does not rule out the possibility that the tahfidz teacher must also actively guide and monitor the development of students' memorization.

Abstract

Islamic mass organizations (Ormas) that exist and develop in the midst of society also influence the dynamics of social life, especially in the context of religious moderation. This study aims to analyze the perspectives of three Islamic mass organizations in Lampung, namely Jamaah Tabligh, Muhammadiyah, and Nahdlatul Ulama on religious moderation. This study uses a case study method with primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with figures from each of these mass organizations. The results of the study show that by using their perspectives on the differences between Islamic mass organizations, views on the term “infidel”, and views on the relationship between religion and state (Pancasila), it is concluded that these three mass organizations have a moderate attitude towards differences between Islamic mass organizations, by prioritizing the principle of mutual respect and appreciation in worship and organization. Jamaah Tabligh emphasizes unity among Muslims despite differences in carrying out worship, while Muhammadiyah and NU also recognize this diversity, but emphasize the importance of preaching in an inclusive manner. Regarding the view on the term “kafir”, Jamaah Tabligh and NU use the term contextually in the early history of Islam, while Muhammadiyah emphasizes more on the attitude of tolerance between religious communities. The three mass organizations also agree that Pancasila as the foundation of the Indonesian state is the right foundation, which allows the integration of religious values in national and state life, without forgetting diversity. Overall, this study shows that moderation varies according to the perspectives of three mass organizations in Lampung, namely Jamaah Tabligh, Muhammadiyah, and Nahdlatul Ulama, reflected in an inclusive and harmonious attitude towards differences, both in aspects of worship, social views, and politics. Such views can also prevent conflict in the midst of society due to differences in views.

The primary data source is interviews with the public and former KUA officials. Secondary data sources consist of data obtained from books and journals related to the problem. The results of the research concluded: the status of a private marriage by a former KUA official as a judge’s guardian is false or invalid because in a private marriage there is no judge’s guardian and the judge’s guardian only applies to marriages that are legal according to the state. According to Minister of Religion Regulation Number 30 of 2005, the guardian judge is the Head of the District Religious Affairs Office who is appointed by the Minister of Religion to act as marriage guardian for prospective brides who do not have guardians. A marriage solemnized in the presence of an unauthorized marriage registrar or an unauthorized marriage guardian may be requested to be annulled. The solution to an invalid underhanded marriage is Remarriage (Tajdid Nikah).
