Abstract

COVID-19 attacks have changed the methods and cultures of work in many organizations, the working from home (WFH) phenomenon as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in many countries in the world has impacts on employee productivity. This study aims to explore the impacts of working from home on employee productivity with a qualitative approach. The findings explain that working from home has provided advantages and disadvantages both for employee and organization as well as being responsible for the decline in employee productivity. Furthermore, we also find the fact that working from home cannot be generally accepted since many areas of work cannot be carried out from home, although for many employees, working from home has provided a work-life balance. Yet, this is sometimes interrupted by multiple jobs (multitasking) that must be done at home.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of corporate tax aggressiveness in Indonesia. The meta-analysis technique is used to find conclusions about the trends of similar research that have been studied. The sample of this study is 22 published articles for quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of the meta-analysis show that corporate governance (independent commissioners, audit committees, and audit quality) and company characteristics (leverage, firm size, and profitability) influence tax aggressiveness. Significant statistical test results have not been able to provide conclusions regarding the phenomenon of tax aggressiveness, because there is no researcher who clearly explains which agency theory is used to explain the phenomenon of research. Agency theory includes whole participant relations in business. It is necessary to have a clear agency theory identification so that there is no mistake in determining the solution to the problem under study. Error making theory as a basis for problem solving in research will lead to problem solving that is not appropriate. Researchers have a tendency not to convey research results that are inconsistent or insignificant with previous studies. This is why meta-analysis techniques are difficult to use.

Abstract

Following the phenomenological case study method, this paper highlights the mental health marketing scenario in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. While the developed world is finding modern methods to connect with and serve MH patients, Vietnam and most other developing economies are still struggling to shift views from mental illness to mental wellness. Despite this, particularly among a small group of forward thinking providers, there is a trend taking shape towards more proactive and digitally-savvy identification, acquisition, and retention of mental health patients. In addition to de-stigmatizing mental health issues, this has the effects of providing patients access, confidence, and meaningful engagement. Marketing orientiation also resulted in increased attention to preventive mental healthcare.

Abstract

Anthropomorphism is the belief that brands can possess human characteristics, which raises a tendency to assign human traits to inanimate objects. It is on this premise that Brand Personality takes its roots.  Several studies in the measurement and influence of Brand Personality abound leading to increasing arguments on the most appropriate methods to be used to measure Brand Personality.  However, Aaker’s methodology stands out prominently in the Brand Personality domain.  This study attempts to review the Brand Personality literature to identify the extent that this methodology has been used.  The objectives of this study are to identify the scope and limitation of Aaker’s (1997) Brand Personality construct, identify the literature on Brand Personality and identify the use of Aaker’s (1997) methodology in scale development. Using a qualitative design, consecutive sampling was used to analyze the identified literature on Brand Personality. The resulting data was analyzed using frequency and pictorial analysis and several tables presenting the review of the literature were developed.

Abstract

Stocks are one of the popular investment instruments traded in the capital market. The popularity of stock purchase has developed along with the massive financial literacy movement. However, the massiveness of this movement must be balanced with knowledge and expertise in managing stock instruments since they have a high return rate and high risk. One way to manage stocks is by developing an optimal stock portfolio based on the Markowitz model. The Markowitz model is a method that formulates the elements of return and risk in an investment, and specifically the elements of risk can be minimized through diversification and combination of various investment instruments into a portfolio. By using the Markowitz method, investors can take advantage of all available information as a basis for maximizing the portfolio. This study aimed to determine which stocks can form an optimal portfolio, especially in the era of the COVID 19 pandemic and the optimal proportion of the portfolio that is feasible to obtain from stocks listed in the LQ 45 Index. The study samples involved stocks listed in the LQ 45 Index. The data analysis technique applied in this study was portfolio optimization using the Markowitz model. The results of this study showed that the optimal portfolio consisted of BBCA with a weight of 78.09% and BRPT with a weight of 21.91% which produced an expected return of 2.35% and a standard deviation of 7.01%.

This research focused on the quantity and quality of CSR disclosures, provided by these companies. The method of analysis used was content analysis. The result of this study revealed that from the three dimensions constituting Community disclosure, Environmental disclosure and Human Resource disclosure, Community disclosure was the most disclosed dimension from the top profitable companies in Nigeria. Findings revealed that these companies disclosed a lot about the different CSR activities they had undertaken within the span of one year, but the quality of these disclosures were relatively low. CSR disclosure should be encouraged by the Nigerian government by publicly recognizing companies who disclose CSR activity, this will motivate other companies to practice and disclose CSR.

Abstract

Fraud is an ever-growing problem for financial institutions in Nigeria, with criminals using a wide variety of methods. Unfortunately, employees were fingered in most of these fraudulent activities. Previous studies focused on contextual and organizational antecedents of motivating engagement in fraudulent practices and less on employees’ dispositional factors. This study examined the role of personality traits and ethical beliefs on fraudulent behaviour among bank employees. The study was a cross-sectional study. Three hundred and fifty-three (353) employees in the middle to junior level management cadre were selected through stratified sampling technique from banking organisations operating in the Ibadan metropolis. The respondents responded to a self-report questionnaire measuring fraudulent behaviour intention and red flags; personality traits and Ethical position questionnaire. Two hypotheses were tested using multiple regression, Pearson correlation analysis and ANOVA at p≤0.05. Results demonstrated that conscientiousness personality trait was the only predictor of fraud intent behaviour among the personality variables. Employees with Absolutist ethical principles reported lower fraud intent behaviour than those with subjectivist ethical philosophy. The study concludes that personality traits and ethical beliefs were powerful motivators for fraud behavior. Thus, fraud and HR experts were enjoined to utilize psychological profiles in fraud investigations and selection of employees.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of normal social life. The community is required not to leave the house too much if it is not necessary. Often during times of independent isolation or in personal cases, people are afraid to leave the house. They are faced with boredom so this is an opportunity for the digital entertainment industry to develop. On the other hand, many violations of COVID-19 health protocols still occur in society and people are still reluctant to stay-at-home. The question is what medium is good for persuasion as well as giving pleasure to people to entertain themselves during independent isolation and with low levels of boredom. Video games are a growing industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately, this media has not been widely used as a means of persuading people to obey health protocols and stay-at-home. This study shows a correlation between gaming activity and the tendency not to leave the house. Besides, what types of games have the potential to keep someone from leaving the house are also discussed in this paper.
