Abstract

This article describes the visible conditions of modern human development that display a different phenomenon. Previously, they were famous for their all-materialistic lifestyle, but now they seem to be heading towards spiritual things. On the one hand, this shows a good change. If you pay close attention to this phenomenon, you can see that there is a tug of war between escapism and illuminates, whether the shift of modern human attention to the spiritual is only limited to escapism to avoid the hustle and bustle they experience or illuminates who make themselves aware of the importance of a balance between physical and spiritual needs. This research uses the library research method using deductive-inductive logic reflectively. Discussing this matter, Sufism as the direction that modern humans go in meeting spiritual needs can help humans not only focus on human problems with God but also on issues related to humans and their social realm, Sufism can be relevant to modern life. Thus the balance between the outer and inner aspects can be realized and the shift of humans to the Sufism aspect is an escape (escapism) that leads to enlightenment (illuminati).

Abstract

In modern life, humans in groups become two. First, the despicable human being due to exaggeration and Second, a despicable human being is caused to be too lacking. The two groups of humans could not put things in their place and were far from simplicity. To answer a problem above, researchers will examine the thinking of Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah or Hamka an important view in the study of contemporary Muslim scholars. This research wants to explain the concept of simplicity according to Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah and its importance to modern life. This research is a literature study (Library Research). Furthermore, researchers use descriptive methods and analytical methods. And also elaborate and analyze some of his thoughts with the Sufistical Approach. The researchers concluded that the simple concepts carried by Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah (Hamka) are "Istiqomah" (perpendicular in the middle) and "I'tidal".  Simplicity in worship will draw near to God is a form of necessity.  This also applies to daily activities.

Abstract

This article is written to review one of the new proving methods in the development of Kalam science, in order to face the modern-day materialism that is oriented towards all things physically as a dangerous threat to religion. This is because belief in religion, in addition to discussing physical things, also discusses the metaphysical matters. It includes faith in God and faith in the Hereafter, both of which are metaphysical. One of the new ideas that became an important theme in the study of contemporary Islamic scholars is the thought of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. This article uses the type of Library research, with the study of the Kalam science approach. Subsequently, the researcher used a Descriptive method to describe the Akhirat proof according to Wahiduddin Khan. In proving the religious truth about life in the Hereafter, Khan combines kalam with evidence of strong experiments, explaining the importance of belief in the life of the Hereafter. And in combining Kalam with evidence of Experimentt, Wahiduddin Khan opened up the afterlife by describing some of the research that has been done by scientists in modern times which is based on the experiment by: 1) in terms of medical research, 2) terms of research psychology, 3) in terms of the study of the spiritual, With these three studies aimed at preventing human beings from adverse acts and in order to improve human morale to live better.

Abstract

Abstract: Human Rights is a concept proposed by the West for supporting the justice and the welfare of human life, both in the realm of security, health, etc. In this case, the Western’s experience after two great wars has made them focus a lot on the formulation of human rights. This is evident from several declarations on human rights that were initiated by countries in Europe, one of which is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). However, within the UDHR, there are many doctrines that originate from the Western’s worldview, such as Secularization, Liberalization, etc. If it is examined this path, it is inseparable from one of the world's great dark organizations called Freemasonary, which gave the doctrinal stigma in the formulation of the UDHR. As a political movement that provides breakthroughs in new ideas, Freemasonry is a thought or philosophical  movement that deserves to be studied, because of its closed attitude but has a fundamental influence on several facts that occur, one of which is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights itself. In this paper the author will examine the history of the human rights declaration, starting from the influential figures in it to the content of the declaration which is full of typical Western doctrines above. Then the author will include an Islamic view that clearly has a different worldview of the concept in western human rights itself.

Abstract

Islamic education today is undergoing many shifts. Starting from the emergence of dualism in the education system and the confusion of islamic education goals that exist in modern educational institutions today. This is due to the confusion of the foundation of educational philosophy as a result of the westernization and secularization carried out by Western educational models that have developed in many Islamic countries. Badiuzzaman Said Nursi is a figure who strongly opposes the education of this Western model, Nursi argued that education should be based on faith and tawhid, religious science and modern science should be taught side by side and not separately. This paper aims to analyze Badiuzzaman Said Nursi's thinking in reforming Islamic Education based on his ideas about Madrasah al-Zahra in Turkey and its relevance to the model of education in Indonesia. This research is qualitative research and literature type using descriptive methods and analysis. The data used is the work of Badiuzzaman Said Nursi Risale-i Nur, and data obtained from papers, journals, and writings related to research topics. The study found that the idea of establishing Madrasah al-Zahra by Badiuzzaman Said Nursi was a comprehensive model of Islamic education. This model can be a solution to the problem of Dualism of Islamic education in the world in general and in Indonesia in particular, and its relevance to be applied to Pesantren Muadalah in Indonesia.

Abstract

The discourse on the integration of philosophy and religion is important because they are an essential aspect of society. This paper first tries to understand philosophy and religion, their terminologies and definitions, and theories in relating philosophy and religion. The main section of this article examines Muslim thinkers' views on philosophy and religion and frames them in Barbour’s theory of integration. While it emphasizes Ghazāli's view on Reason and Revelation and Ibn Sīnā's view on Reason and Revelation, it also discusses the thoughts of Al-Farabi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Sir Muhammad Iqbal, and Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. There are similarities and differences in Muslim scholars' views on the integration of philosophy and religion. Regardless of their differences, we found that all of them are still in Barbour’s definition of Integration, not Dialogue, independence, or even Conflict.

Abstract

This article tries to discuss how Syiah influence people in Indonesia to follow them. If their influence has expanded, Syiah will try to create “Marja’ al-Taqlīd”. By creating “Marja’ al-Taqlīd”, Syiah’s movement in Indonesia will be directly connected to the Wilāyat al-Faqīh system in Iran which is under the leadership of Ali Khameini as Waly al-Faqīh, the highest ruler of government and religious authority. If this happens, the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia will be in danger. This article aims to reveal the Syiaization process that occurred in Indonesia which led to the creation of Marja’ al-Taqlīd. The author tries to collect the factors that cause the development of Syiah’s movement in this country with a majority population of Sunnis. By using qualitative methods and in-depth understanding, the authors collect data through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. As a result, the authors found several factors causing the massive movement of Syiah’s teachings in Indonesia. Among the causative factors that exist are Muslims less knowledge of their religion, plus the lack of knowledge about Shia’s teachings. The economic weakness of Muslims is also well utilized by Syiah to launch their mission. The Moslem scholars of Sunni also did not move quickly to counter Syiah’s mission. In addition, the Syiah’s movement also seems to have received defense and support from the government and is still considered a part of Islam.

Abstract

Muhammad Shahrur as one of the liberal scholar from Syria returned to fame with the emergence of Abdul Aziz's controversial dissertation which raised the theme of milk al-Yamīn. Shahrur is considered to have legalized adultery for interpreting milk al-Yamīn as an aqad iḥṣān or sexual partner outside of marriage. Coupled with derivatives of the concept of milk al-Yamīn Shahrur such as nikah mut'ah, musākanah (samen leven), 'urfī, grant, and muḥallil which have been agreed haram by jumhūr ulama. The methodology used in the writing of this article is descriptive-analytical critical to the Islamic worldview approach. This article seeks to describe the concept of milk al-Yamīn in the view of the Shahrur accompanied by criticism from various aspects, considering the authority of the Shahrur and assessing the methodology and epistemology of the Shahrur in interpreting the Qur'an. It was concluded that the shahrur's interpretation of the milk al-yamīn verses came out of the mainstream interpretation of the majority of scholars. Another problem lies in the inconsistency in the use of methodology, and the relativism of Syahrur epistemology.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the idea of al-Attas' existentialism which is embodied in his conception of wujud and its relationship with worldview. Al-Attas' definition of worldview, the Islamic vision of Wujūd, indicates the significance of wujūd in the worldview building formulated by al-Attas. However, al-Attas's conception of wujūd is overlooked in academic studies, even though this concept is a crucial theme in his philosophical thinking. This study applies descriptive and analytical methods as well as a philosophical approach to analyze al-Attas' works. This paper argues that al-Attas's idea of worldview is built on the principle of existentialism which is inspired by the concept of Waḥdah al-Wujūd Sufism. It states that wujūd is the true reality, while what is called quiddity or essence is just a mode of wujūd. Thus, the structure of reality is Wujūd in its Unity and Diversity which is nothing but a manifestation of al-Ḥaqq.

Abstract

Man has the best personality and ubūdiah because it is the perfect creation of God,  However, it is the human self that makes his personality bad. This article attempts to explain the concept of man aḥsan al-Taqwīm (created in the best form) in the view of Said Nursi and it influence on a personality. This discussion uses analytical methods as a development of descriptive methods, The discussion step begins with the disclosure of the concept of man aḥsan al-Taqwīm in the Treatise of Nur by Badiuzzaman Said Nursi and at the end of the discussion described the influence of the concept in a personality. The results of this discussion can be concluded in several points. First, man is God's extraordinary creation, showing all the manifestations of asmaul husna that make man the orbit of all his carvings and as miniatures and models of all natural entities. Second, in man there are two sides: egoism and ubudiah, The process of ahsanu taqwim in man exists because it leaves the ego ismī (shows itself) and turns the potential of evil into the potential of good. Third: personality is divided into three, mutma'innah, lawwamah and ammarah. Fourth, in fact, the human personality has a perfect nature in accordance with the concept of ahsanu taqwim which has an element of faith in it.  But denial and unbelief hinder the meaning of asmaul husna carvings. And make a person's personality imperfect even bad.
