Abstract

Improving math skills is considered important today. Because mathematical abilities can encourage individuals to be able to solve problems in the midst of society. A number of studies have proven that self-concept is very influential on mathematical ability. Therefore, this study wants to prove again whether self-concept and interest have an effect on mathematical ability. In order to prove this question, this study uses a quantitative type of research with an ex-post facto research approach. The sample in this study amounted to 24 students (male = 3 and female = 21). The instrument used in this study is the self-concept and interest scale adapted from Sproesser et al (2016) and individual mathematical abilities were taken from the Grade Point Average. This study uses linear regression analysis techniques. The results showed that self-concept is very influential on the mathematical ability by 0.04 (p<0.05). That is, to improve the individual's mathematical ability must have self-concept maturity and interest in mathematics. Keywords: self-concept, mathematical ability, ex-post facto research

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia poses a challenge for educators to find effective and efficient alternatives to distance learning. Therefore, this study aims to develop distance math learning devices using the PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) learning strategies that are valid, practical and effective. This type of research is development research that uses the Plomp development model. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Duduksampeyan Gresik in the 2021/2022 academic year. The learning devices developed consist of lesson plans and worksheet on the set material. The development phase consists of an initial investigation phase, a design phase, a realization or construction phase and a test, evaluation and revision phase. Data collection methods used are tests, observations and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the formula for the average value and the percentage was then classified according to the established criteria. The results of data analysis show that distance math learning devices using the PQ4R learning strategies are in the valid, practical and effective categories. This can be seen from the average validity of the lesson plan and student  worksheet of 3.78 and 3.87, respectively. While the average practicality of lesson plan and student  worksheet  are 3.93 and 3.92, respectively. The implementation of the syntax of learning mathematics is included in the very good category with a percentage of 100%. The response of students after participating in the lesson was very positive. Student learning outcomes are included in the very good category with a percentage of completeness of 90.63%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of flipped classroom learning models using  the brainstorming method  on mathematical problem solving ability in geometry transformation materials.  The population in this study was all class XI students of SMAN 1 Taman Sidoarjo.  Dari teknik purposive sampling obtained samples of class XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2.  The data collection method in this study is the test and documentation method. Data analysis using normality, homogeneity, and t-tests. By data analysis using t-test obtained  with a significant level of 0.05. This shows that it is greater than the value , so in conclusion there is an influence of  the traditional flipped classroom type flipped learning model  using the brainstorming method on the ability to solve mathematical problems in geometry transformation material in class XI SMAN 1 Taman Sidoarjo.

Abstract

Interactive multimedia is a learning model to generate thoughts, motivation, convey messages, and students' interests so as to encourage the teaching and learning process and the media is used to generate students' learning experiences to become more real. The purpose of the researchers conducting the research was to describe the interest in learning in students towards the use of Augmented media reality as learning media on triangle and quadrilateral material for class VII MTs. The researcher used a descriptive quantitative research method with 20 class VII MTs students as a random sample. This study used a non-test instrument in the form of a student learning interest questionnaire. Quantitative descriptive data analysis was used as a data analysis technique in this study. As for the results of student responses to the use of software Adobe Flash Cs6 Professional as a learning medium obtained a percentage with an average of 79.25% which is relatively high, this shows that students' responses to the use of Augmented media Reality as a positive learning media so that it can be used later for the learning process that can attract students' interest in learning

Abstract

This is a classroom action research is to achieve student success in learning mathematics, especially how to complete Trigonometry Function Limits by applying the Jigsaw learning model. The subjects in this study were students of class XII IPA 1 SMAN 1 Dawarblandong Mojokerto Regency in the 2022/2023 school year with a total of 36 students. The instruments in this study used syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, observation sheets, and evaluation question sheets. The data analysis method uses 2 cycles with each cycle consisting of 5 stages namely preparation (planning), implementation (action), observation (observation), evaluation (evaluation), and reflection (reflection). The results showed that the jigsaw cooperative learning model had a positive impact on improving student achievement which was marked by an increase in student mastery in each cycle, namely cycle I 63.88% and cycle II 94.44%. The application of the Jigsaw cooperative learning method has a positive effect, namely increasing student learning motivation as indicated by the results of the second cycle test which are better than the first cycle test results and the results of observations of teachers and students.

Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) is one of the innovative learning models that provides learning opportunities for students to be directly involved in learning processes the real life reality. This study to determine the significance of the application of STEM-based PBL on the HOTS ability of Hang Tuah 4 High School students Surabaya. The sample of this research is 17 students of class X SMA Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya in the academic year 2021-2022. Data were collected through tests and documentation conducted by the researcher together with the mathematics teacher when teaching SPLDV. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 for windows. The result is that the application of STEM-based PBL has an influence on the HOTS ability of students at Hang Tuah 4 High School Surabaya. For this reason, it is recommended for mathematics teachers to apply STEM-based PBL to familiarize students with HOTS thinking.

Abstract

In the twenty-first century, having an ability for thinking critically is essential. Students, including those with low prior knowledge in mathematics, are expected to have this ability. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate students' critical thinking abilities when they first start using PBL (Problem Based Learning). This study uses a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of two mathematics education students who were repeating lectures. The research instrument consisted of tests of critical thinking skills and interviews. The results obtained are indicators of critical thinking skills that appear well in students with low initial abilities is the interpretation of the indicators. As for the analysis of indicators, applying the solutions obtained, making inferences and concluding the results appear at an unfavorable level. These results indicate that students with low prior knowledge who study using PBL still have a low level of critical thinking.
