Abstract

The conducted of this study was to investigate the effect of yeast on growth and survival rate of freshwater pomfret fish. This research used complete randomized design with five treatments, each with 3 replications. The treatments was given by treament A (0 gr yeast/ kg feed), B ( 5 gr yeast/ kg feed), C (10 gr yeast/kg feed), D (15 gr yeast/ kg feed), E (20 gr yeast/ kg feed). Frequency of feeding was 2 times a day 5%bb. This research showed that the addition of yeast significally influenced growth and survival rate of pomfret fish. The higest yeast dossage in feed causing highest growth of pomfret fish.

Abstract

Nanofiltration membranes occur due to the process of pressure differentials to separate the solut larger than the solution. This membrane is used in water purification processes, such as water softening, dye removal, and micropolutan removal. Membranes have several important criteria to determine membrane performance as filtration, namely flux (permeability), rejection (permectivity), thickness, morphology and mechanical properties of the membrane. This article is expected to provide ideas and recommendations regarding membrane characterization and the manufacture of nanofiltration membranes using modified polyamide membranes.

Abstract

Sorghum is a cereal plant that can grow in various environmental conditions so that it is potential to be developed, especially on dry climate marginal land in Indonesia. Sweet sorghum has great potential to be used as raw material for ethanol besides sugar cane. Cultivation of sweet sorghum has shifted from food and feed raw materials to industrial raw materials, both small and large scale. This study aims to obtain reducing sugar levels as raw material for bioethanol through hydrolysis using a microwave. As much as 10 grams of sorghum powder is suspended with dilute H2SO4 solution of 0.1 N, 0.3 N and 0.5 N as much as 250 mL and then heated using microwave irradiation at a temperature of 200 oC for 20 and 40 minutes. The liquid fraction produced by hydrolysis was analyzed by reducing sugar content with the DNS method using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results obtained showed that the optimum hydrolysis conditions using microwave were achieved at concentrations of H2SO4 0.5 N at 200 oC and hydrolysis time at 40 minutes. Reducing sugar content of 42.71 mg / L. The sugar content rises by 19.95% compared to the hydrolysis time of 20 minutes.

Abstract

Verbal ability and numerical ability is the competence required in learning mathematics and allegedly affect the student's mathematics learning achievement. This study aims to see whether or not the influence of verbal ability and numerical ability on mathematics learning achievement of SMP students either partially or simultaneously. The study was conducted at SMPS Catholic Kefamenanu Aurora 2017/2018. The instruments used are verbal ability test, numerical ability test and mathematics learning achievement test. The instruments used are verbal ability test, numerical ability test and mathematics learning achievement test. Based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded that : 1) Partially there is a significant influence between the ability of verbal and numerical ability to the achievement of junior high school students. 2) Simultaneously there is a significant influence between verbal ability and numerical ability to student's mathematics learning achievement. Based on these results can be concluded that both partially and simultaneously there is influence between the ability of verbal and numerical ability of student achievement of junior high.

Abstract

The mechanism of nanofiltration separation is largely based on the size and difference in diffusion rates for organic molecules and electrostatic effects for ions. However, because the molecules are not more charged, the mechanism based on molecular size is more widely used. Nanofiltration membranes operate without phase changes and usually have a high rejection of multivalent inorganic salts and small organic molecules at moderate pressure. This makes the separation process very competitive in terms of selectivity and cost when compared to traditional separation. Nanofiltration membranes have been applied in various industrial sectors namely wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical processes and biotechnology, and food engineering. This article is expected to provide ideas and recommendations regarding the innovation of making nanofiltration membranes for dyestuff waste separators.

Abstract

Physical variables in everyday life that need to be monitored using a wireless sensor network are temperature and humidity. The advantages of using a wireless sensor network are to improve the resolution of the measurement data, to control remote application, to improve the efficiency, to control something in unreachable area and so on. Therefore, in this study a wireless sensor network were developed to monitor the temperature and humidity in environment based on short message system. The system was designed with a star topology consisted of two major parts, namely transmitter and the receiver. Transmitter consisted of XBee Pro RF module, microcontroller and sensor SHT10. Receiver consisted of XBee Pro RF modules that were connected with GSM module SIM900. Transmitters were placed on 3 points would send the measured data of temperature and humidity to the receiver, and then the data forwarded by short message system to destination phone number. The system has been tested and it works well.

Abstract

Geoelectrical resistivity research has been conducted using Wenner Sounding Configuration in Buraen Village South Amarasi district Kupang Regency which covered 2025 m2 area research. The purpose of this research is to determine the spreading pattern and value range of manganese rock resistivity and also calculate the potential resources of manganese rock on that area research. The processing data was used the IP2WIN to compute the depth, thickness, number of layers and also value of rock resistivity. Surfer 9 program was used to compute manganese resources. The result of the research showed that spreading of manganese rock was almost exists all over measurement lines which varies the thickness. Based on rock layer analysis, resistivity values were on the range 4 Ωm – 31,9 Ωm which suspected as manganese rock layers. The volume of manganese rock from the calculation results was 36.707 m3 and it was also hypothetical resources because of geological validity in the survey review.

Abstract

The preliminary research was conducted to explore the potency of Areca fiber waste (Areca catechu L) from Tanjung Jabung Timur, Jambi Province as carbon source which would be used as a raw material in biosorben production. Activated carbon production was carried out using physical activation on 400 ͦ C, 300 ͦ C, and without carbonization. The collected activated carbon was sifted using 100 mesh sieve. The biosorbents were characterized by water content, ash content, functional groups, and surface area. Based on the result of this research, it could be concluded that carbonization process can disclose the material pores to increase adsorption. The water content, ash content, and surface area of 300 ͦ C sample were 2 %; 45,72 %, and 25,77 m2g-1, respectively.The functional group on the surface of biosorbent would be interacted with adsorbat in adsorption process.

Abstract

The research of determination the status of water quality and pollution loads in Dendeng river using pollution index has been conducted. The aims of this research are to determine the water quality status and to determine the pollution loads of Dendeng river. The parameters measured are: ph, DO, BOD, COD, Suspended Solid Total, N-NO3 and N-NH3 in order to determine the water quality status, while parameters BOD, COD and TSS were used to determine the pollution loads. The result of this research showed that the water quality status from the five station which was observed by the research was classified as light of pollution index value for each station was 3.178 for station I, 3.788 for station II, 3.064 for station III, 4.124 for station IV and station V was 3.806. The total average of pollution loads based on the parameter of BOD, COD and TSS of the five station were 190741.87, 3085891.79 and 266967.03 tons/year, respectively.

Abstract

Soursop is one of the many plants found in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Some parts of the soursop plant are known to have been widely used as traditional medicine or as natural pesticides. The use of plants as a treatment or as a natural pesticide cannot be separated from the bioactive compounds contained therein. These compounds will be successfully isolated depending on the choice of solvent. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the composition of the metabolites contained in each solvent used. The steps of this study include preparation of soursop leaf samples, extraction by maceration with methanol solvents, partitioning of methanol extract with dichloromethane and water solvents and identification of metabolite compositions with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) instruments. The compounds identified in HPLC dichloromethane solvents are thought to be phenol, polyketide, tannin and alkaloid metabolites. Whereas HPLC identified compounds in water solvents are thought to be polar compounds which are bound to a glycoside group
