Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh alelopati tanaman tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L.) terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sawi (Brassia chinensis L.). Alelopati diperoleh dari ekstraksi beberapa organ tanaman tomat yaitu organ buah, daun, batang dan akar. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Timor, kelurahan sasi, kecamatan kota Kefamenanu, kabupaten Timor tengah utara, provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan, ekstrak alelopati organ buah, daun, batang dan akar dengan masing-masing perlakuan diulang tiga kali. Adapun parameter pengamatan yang dilakukan yaitu daya berkecambah, potensi tumbuh maksimum, kecepatan tumbuh dan berat kering kecambah normal. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan analisis sidik ragam menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pada taraf uji 0,05% dan 0,01% menunjukkan alelopati dari organ buah, daun, batang dan akar tanaman tomat tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata pada semua parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini yakni daya berkecambah, berat kering kecambah normal, potensi tumbuh maksimum dan kecepatan tumbuh kecambah.

Abstract

The research of determination the status of water quality and pollution loads in Dendeng river using pollution index has been conducted. The aims of this research are to determine the water quality status and to determine the pollution loads of Dendeng river. The parameters measured are: ph, DO, BOD, COD, Suspended Solid Total, N-NO3 and N-NH3 in order to determine the water quality status, while parameters BOD, COD and TSS were used to determine the pollution loads. The result of this research showed that the water quality status from the five station which was observed by the research was classified as light of pollution index value for each station was 3.178 for station I, 3.788 for station II, 3.064 for station III, 4.124 for station IV and station V was 3.806. The total average of pollution loads based on the parameter of BOD, COD and TSS of the five station were 190741.87, 3085891.79 and 266967.03 tons/year, respectively.

Abstract

The potential for manganese reserves in Indonesia is nquite high nin all islands, including in NTT, especially in North Central Timor Regency. Goverment regbulation No.7 of 2012 concerning the prohibition of selling raw mining materials abroad implies that we must process them into intermediate goods or final products so that these mining materials have a high selling value. The purpose of this study was determine the content of manganese contained in manganese ores scattered in North Centr Timor Regency.

Abstract

Program kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dibiayai oleh LP2M Universitas Timor ini bertujuan untuk Memberikan informasi dan mengajarkan cara pembuatan dan manfaat dari biopori. Target yang ingin dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah agar kelompok sasaran dapat memperoleh keterampilan pembuatan biopori secara mandiri dan memiliki alat pembuat biopori, sehingga teknologi biopori dapat terus dilakukan dan dikembangkan oleh masyarakat. Beberapa manfaat yang dapat diperoleh dari pembuatan lubang resapan biopori adalah sebagai salah satu cara penangulangan banjir karena merupakan lubang resapan air, menghasilkan pupuk kompos, dan meningkatkan unsur hara tanah. Kegiatan ini melibatkan masyarakat dan juga mahasiswa. Materi yang diberikan tentang mnfaat lubang resapan biopori dan cara pembuatan lubang resapan biopori.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Nek’To Noapala terletak di Desa Kiuola Kecamatan Noemuti Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara. Desa ini memiliki beberapa potensi pertanian dan peternakan yang dapat dikembangkan oleh petani, salah satunya tanaman padi (Oriza sativa L.) dan hasil ikutan dari tanaman padi tersebut dimanfaatkan untuk produktivitas ternak sapi. Jerami padi merupakan limbah dari tanaman padi sebagai pakan ternak memiliki kadar protein rendah, berserat tinggi dan berdaya cerna rendah sehingga diperlukan adanya suatu perlakuan yaitu dengan teknologi fermentasi. Metode yang dipakai dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa FGD( Foccus Discussion Group) dan praktek secara langsung. Proses fermentasi dilakukan dengan dua tahap yaitu tahap fermentasi dan pengeringan. Proses fermentasi berlangsung selama 21 hari secara anaerob. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu jerami padi hasil fermentasi yang memiliki kualitas fisik cukup baik diantaranya memiliki tekstur yang lembut, warna kuning kecoklatan dan aroma seperti tapeserta hasilnya langsung diaplikasikan ke ternak sapi. Disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat terkhususnya anggota kelompok tani Nek’To Noapala Desa Kiuola tentang pemanfaatan jerami padi secara fermentasi sebagai pakan alternatif bagi ternak sapi

Abstract

Devotion with the title of potential plant extracts as natural pesticides in Salu village, Miomafo Barat district, TTU district was held in November 2018. The purpose of this service was to provide knowledge on how to increase food production through eradicating pests, providing knowledge about the advantages of natural pesticides compared to synthetic pesticides, and make soursop leaf extract as a natural pesticide. The main target of this activity is the farmers who are conducted through methods of lecture, brochure distribution, and product manufacturing training. This service activity was conducted in 3 sessions. The first session was socialization of ways to increase food production through eradicating pests. The second session is a socialization of the advantages of natural pesticides compared to synthetic pesticides. Making soursop extract as a natural pesticide is the third session that closes all the series of devotion. In addition to providing questions, farmers also provide personal experiences that are useful for the development of science. The coordination of the making of soursop extract indicates the high enthusiasm of the farmers in Salu village towards this devotion. The final product in this activity is soursop leaf extract which is ready to be applied to plants.

Abstract

The Synthesis of Aluminum Oxide Nanoparticles with the electrochemical Method has been investigated. The electrochemical cell consists of a cathode (Al) and anode (Al), then a solution of NaCl as the electrolyte. The variation of the concentration of electrolytes used in this study i.e, 0.1 M; 0.2 M; 0.3 M; 0.4 M and 0.5 M. The reaction was conducted for 15 minutes until the color changes from colorless solution become cloudy. Particle size analysis of alumina nanoparticles using a Zetasizer instrument. The results of particle size analysis of the effect of variations in NaCl solution were used for each concentration of 0.1 M - 0.5 M which is 96.2 nm; 107.4 nm; 120.1 nm; 125.8 nm and 211.0 nm respectively. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and particle size analysis were used to characterize the structure and size of the product. γ- Al2O3 nanoparticles were obtained by this method. Abstract

The production of activated carbon from areca nut waste as a biosorbent for Ca and Mg in groundwater has been done. This research aimed to determine the ash content, water content, and iodine number of activated carbons from areca nut waste and determine the optimum contact time and adsorption capacity for the adsorption of Ca and Mg in groundwater. Activated carbon making is done by carbonation and activation. The activator used was H2SO4 1,5 M with a soaking time of 24 hours. The adsorption process is carried out in batches with variations in contact time. The results showed that the activated carbon from areca nuts waste had an ash content of 14,97%, water content of 7,17%, iodine number of 1,079.19 mg/g, and the FTIR characterization results showed that activated carbon has the functional groups OH, CH, CO, C≡C, C=C and C=O. The optimum time condition for the adsorption of areca fiber-activated carbon to calcium and magnesium in groundwater is at a contact time of 90 minutes with an adsorption capacity of 2.1196 mg/g for Ca and 0.7540 mg/g for Mg.

Abstract

Feun Kase seed extract can be used as a corrosion inhibitor on zinc metal in HCl solution. This study aims to determine the secondary metabolites contained in Feun Kase seed extract, inhibition efficiency and corrosion rate, and surface morphology of zinc metal in the inhibition process using Feun Kase seed extract in HCl media. Feun Kase seed extract was obtained by maceration extraction using methanol. In the corrosion inhibition test, the concentration and temperature variations were carried out to determine the effect on the inhibition efficiency and the corrosion rate per year. The results showed that the methanol extract of Feun Kase seeds contained secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids and saponins. The optimum inhibition efficiency was obtained at an inhibitor concentration of 30 ppm of 82.70% with a corrosion rate of 5.80 mm/year and at a temperature of 35ºC of 75.84% with a corrosion rate of 7.28 mm/year in the test of increasing the temperature of the corrosion medium. The morphological analysis of the zinc plate using the SEM instrument showed that the zinc plate without surface treatment (not immersed in HCl media) was still smooth. This is indicated by the surface of the zinc plate which is still clearly visible because it has not been affected by the corrosion medium. The zinc plate when immersed in HCl media, is damaged which is indicated by the presence of pores or holes. Zinc plate when added with Feun Kase seed extract in HCl media, the zinc surface was damaged but the damage was not as prominent as in HCl media without using an inhibitor.

Abstract

Manganese (Mn) mining in North Central Timor results in open land conditions that can change soil qualities. The aim of this study was to determine physical characteristics and chemical properties of the soil in the ex-manganese mining areas. The study was performed from June – September 2021. Soil characterization was carried out at selected locations where manganese mining was carried out both traditionally and using technology. The soil characteristics measured were texture, water content, bulk density, mass density, porosity, organic matter content, pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), organic C, total nitrogen (N), total phosphorus (P), total potassium (K), and total Mn. The results showed that the physical characteristics of the soil on ex-Mn mining land from 5 villages in TTU, NTT are dominated by sand texture which results in low water content (3.39 - 9.46 %), soil porosity (14.96 - 59.31 %), and high bulk density (1.18 - 1.49 g cm-3). Characteristics of soil chemical properties showed low pH (< 7), organic matter (0.06 – 0.81%), organic C (0.03 – 0.22 %), total N contents (0.05 – 0.22%), and high total P (14.77 – 61.44 me 100 g-), K (66.66 – 71.18 me 100 g-), and Mn (18.802 – 24.055 ppm) contents. Land must be reclaimed Reclamation can be done by land management, top soil conservation, planting pioneer crops or cover crops.
