The journal provides an invigorating and informative variety of research papers that expand and deepen our theoretical understanding. It also provides practice and policy based implications in the relevant contexts of science education. Published biannualy, the journal employs a rigorous peer review process. We do not accept manuscripts which are not easily understandable in English or do not address our major focus.

Abstract

. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of student activity-oriented learning strategies on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes of class XI MAN 2 Blitar. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. Data collection using test and questionnaire methods. The test method is to obtain data on student learning outcomes while the questionnaire is to obtain data on students' critical thinking skills during the learning process based on indicators of critical thinking. The results of this study indicate that the application of student activity-oriented learning strategies affects students' critical thinking skills, which is indicated by the results of the t-test sample which is not homogeneous, namely the significance number = 0.000 / 2 = 0 <0.05. 2) Student activity-oriented learning strategies (PBAS) have an effect on student learning outcomes, this is evidenced by the learning outcomes of post-test answers obtained by the experimental class which are higher than the control class. This is indicated by the results of the free sample t-test, namely significance = 0.000 / 2 = 0 <0.05. 3) The ability to think critically in students has a linear or unidirectional relationship with learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the results of simple regression analysis, namely the linear regression equation shows significance = 0.011 <0.05 or has a positive relationship

Abstract

Local wisdom-oriented learning invites students to gain direct learning experience with natural situations. This study aims to describe how to develop LKPD based on local wisdom that is appropriate to be used to improve the critical thinking skills of eighth grade junior high school students. This research includes development research using 4-D development models namely Define, Design, Develop and Dessiminate. The LKPD research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire that included several aspects of assessment. The LKPD validation was carried out by media experts, material experts, peer reviewers, science teachers and grade VIII students. The results of this study indicate that the local wisdom-based science worksheet developed with the 4-D model to improve critical thinking skills of junior high school students in grade VIII is declared feasible or valid based on the validator's assessment. Assessment of media experts with a percentage of ideals of 80%, according to expert material 86.08%, percentage of ideals according to peer reviewers 92.06%, science teachers of SMP 5 Banguntapan 80%, teachers of SMP 2 Godean 88.75%, while according to students of SMP 5 Banguntapan was 82.28%, while the students of Godean 2 Junior High were 81.90%. Based on the assessment of the science-based LKPD of local wisdom in order to improve the critical thinking skills of eighth grade junior high school students who are deemed fit for use in science learning

Abstract

This study aims for knowing process developing students worksheet based on value clarification which is decent used to improve character of Junior High School grade VIII students. The study type was research and development (R&D) of 4D (Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate) model which is restricted untill develop stage. The techniques of collecting data used observatins, questionnaires, and interviews. Quality value data obtained then analyzed used qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis based on ideal assesment. The students worksheet meet the criteria aspects of suitability of the goal, content eligibility, completeness of the material, presentation of material, student worksheet based on value clarification components, suitability of activities, clarity of instructions, language and sentence eligibility, text clarity and layout quality. Based on expert judgment is known that worksheet student which was developed had very good quality with ideal percentage by media expert 91%, percentage assesment by material epert 87,78%, percentage assesment by peer reviewer 95,16%, percentage assesment by natural science teacher 83,03% and percentage respon by students 86,48%. Based on that assesment, student worksheet based on value clarification for Junior High School grade VIII students is suitable for use in natural science learning.

Abstract

Classroom action research using peer tutoring methods to improve learning outcomes in physics subject circular motion. This study's subjects were students of class X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 4 Cirebon Cirebon City, West Java Province, totaling 32 students. The data collection technique is done by testing and observation. The research process was carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages, namely: (1) action planning, (2) action implementation, (3) observation and interpretation, and (4) analysis and reflection. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there is an increase in learning outcomes in physics subject of student circular motion through the use of the Peer Tutor method. Pre-cycle data with a class average of 60.94 with a percentage of 28.13% complete learning or 9 students out of 32 students. The first cycle increased to 72.19% or 17 students completed with an average student grade of 53.13%, but this score had not yet reached the KKM that had been agreed upon. The second cycle increased to 81.25% or 26 students completed with an average student score of 84.84. Thus, the peer tutor method's application can improve learning outcomes in the Physics subject of circular motion so that it is feasible to be applied in SMA Negeri 4 Cirebon.

Abstract

Kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah masih rendah karena siswa belum terbiasa dilatih dalam memecahkan masalah. Keterampilan proses sains siswa masih rendah karena pembelajaran biologi kurang menekankan pada aspek keterampilan proses sains sehingga siswa belum sepenuhnya memiliki keterampilan proses sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model PBL terhadap problem solving skills dan keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi biologi. Penelitian ini adalah literature review dengan jenis narrative review. Artikel ilmiah yang  digunakan pada penelitian ini  berjumlah 27 artikel ilmiah yang terdiri dari 1 jurnal internasional, 21 jurnal nasional terakreditasi SINTA, 1 artikel prosiding seminar internasional, 4 jurnal nasional belum terakreditasi.Teknik penyajian data menggunakan tabel daftar artikel ilmiah yang akan dianalisis menjadi data hasil penelitian. Teknik analisis dilakukaan secara kualitatif deskriptif dengan menganalisis dan mengidentifikasi artikel ilmiah. Berdasarkan hasil analisis keseluruhan dari artikel ilmiah menunjukan bahwa model PBL berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan keterampilan proses sains siswa pada pembelajaran biologi. Model PBL memiliki kelebihan yang membuat siswa memiliki keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, berkomunikasi dan mempunyai kemampuan dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Sintak model PBL saling berhubungan dengan aspek pada kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan keterampilan proses sains siswa. Model PBL yang dipadukan dengan media dan strategi pembelajaran ternyata memberikan pengaruh yang lebih siginfikan.

Abstract

This study aims to explore ethnoscience at the stage of dyeing woven fabrics, recommending science teaching materials related to Buton woven fabrics, especially in natural dye additives, and inviting the public to preserve the culture of woven fabrics. Ethnoscience is the science that is used to understand how people's original knowledge in the process of dyeing woven fabrics can be constructed into scientific scientific knowledge. The dyeing of the weaving threads is still done traditionally by using materials obtained from nature. The research was conducted in the Colorful Weaving Village. This research is a qualitative descriptive research through the process of data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. The research data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Triangulation of sources by comparing the results of interviews with journal sources and websites. The results showed that at the stage of dyeing Buton woven fabrics, they contained junior high school science concepts, namely plant classification, natural dye additives, substance particles, molecules, simple planes, energy changes, solution concentration, and physical changes that could be used in contextual science learning. in school.

Abstract

The development of an increasingly modern era, especially in the age of globalization, which demands human resources which is a requirement for development purposes. One of the ways that can be traveled in improving the quality is through education. With the 2013 curriculum applied today, it prioritizes the self-development of students to actively involve themselves in the process of learning. 2013 curriculum According to learning is performed thematically, where learning can be combined with other materials so that students are able to understand the concept of material that is learned to be optimal. These thematic learning can be integrated with scientific approaches that are collaborated with STEM-based learning. Hence the media learning as an intermediate tool in the learning process used to convey information in the learning process between teachers to students in conveying information. It is hoped that we can create more meaningful learning with the development done to one of the learning media. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive data analysis using FGD (Focus Group Discuss) result data. Based on the FGD data obtained, the design of Lightning Tamiya Car Media is eligible and meets the criteria desired to serve as a learning medium that can be used for STEM-based Learning for the 2013 curriculum.

Abstract

The problems experienced by students of class IX SMPN 5 Sumenep are (1) the IPA practical instructions do not contain the components clearly and completely, (2) the practical instructions used in class IX have not been integrated with the environment of coastal communities. This makes the learning process less meaningful for students. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility and response of students to the practical guidelines for science-based coastal community environment. This research is a research and development (Research and Development) using the 4-D model. The data collection instrument used consisted of product eligibility instruments and student response instruments. Initial testing (Initial Testing) was carried out on 5 students and quantitative testing (Quantitative Testing) was carried out on 31 Students. The feasibility results of the IPA-based environmental practicum guide from the validation of material aspects, and the design obtained an average of 100% with a very decent category. The results of students' responses to the IPA-based practicum guidelines for coastal communities obtained a percentage of 95% with a very good category so that the IPA-based practicum guides for coastal communities are very appropriate to be used as teaching materials for carrying out practical activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of science subjects in class VIII students of MTs N 6 Klaten using the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning model. This type of research is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) Model of Kemmis and Taggart which was conducted in 3 cycles. Each cycle was held 3 meetings consisting of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. This research was conducted at MTs N 6 Klaten in the even semester of the 2017/2018 school year. The research subjects were 27 students of class VIII C. The research object is the result of science learning. The instrument for collecting data from the Observation and Test sheets was in the form of an essay. Data analysis using descriptive techniques. The results showed that the Jigsaw type learning model could improve the learning outcomes of class VIII students of MTs N 6 Klaten.

Abstract

Learning tools are things that must be prepared by educators before carrying out learning activities. Learning tools serve as guidelines and guidelines for teachers in implementing a systematic and integrated learning process. This study aims to find out how to develop and the feasibility of Inquiry-based science learning tools with Tri N teaching for seventh grade junior high school students. This research includes research and development (Research and Development) using the 4D development model consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Dessiminate. However, the Dessiminate stage was not carried out on this development due to time and cost limitations. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire covering several aspects of the study. The quality of the RPP is assessed by expert lecturers and the quality of the LKPD is assessed by media experts, material experts, student experts, and peer reviewers. Quality value data obtained were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis based on an ideal assessment. The results showed that Inquiry-based science learning tools with Tri N teaching for seventh grade junior high school students were deemed fit for use in science learning with the assessment of RPP products based on expert lecturers obtaining an idealized percentage of 79.16% and LKPD product assessments based on media experts with a percentage of ideals of 85.23%, material experts 96.42%, student expertise 96.42%, while peer reviewers 85.24%.
