Abstract

The high potential for Octopus production in Kaur Regency encourages rice farmers to implement a double income pattern strategy. The aim of this research is to determine the number of hours rice farmers work as octopus hunters, and to analyze the variables that influence the working hours of rice farmers with a double income pattern in Linau Village, Maje District, Kaur Regency. A total of 36 rice farmers who carried out a dual income pattern as octopus hunters became respondents in this research. The census method was used for sampling. This research was carried out from March to April 2023. The method used to determine the number of working hours of rice farmers as octopus searchers used descriptive analysis and analyzed the factors that influence the working hours of rice farmers with a double income pattern as Octopus searchers in Maje District, Kaur Regency. The results of the research show that the time that rice farmers in Linau Village, Maje District, Kaur Regency devote to working in farming is an average of 4 hours per day or 131 hours per month, and to work outside of farming is an average of 5 hours per day or 153 hours per month. The results of the study show that income as an octopus seeker (X1), income from rice farming (X2), and number of dependents (X5) affect  the amount of working hours  of rice farmers, while the variables of age (X3), formal education (X4) and work experience (X6) do not affect  the amount of working hours  of rice farmers. Keywords: double income pattern, octopus seeker, outpouring of working time

Abstract

Magelang Regency, located in Central Java Province possesses significant potential in various sectors, especially in tobacco cultivation. This study aims to analyze the contribution of tobacco products to the plantation sub-sector in Magelang Regency, analyze the sub-districts as the basis for tobacco products in Magelang Regency, and mapping the sub-districts that have the potential for the tobacco sub-sector in Magelang Regency. A quantitative method was used for this research. This research used secondary data sourced from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Magelang Regency. Documentation and interviews were conducted as data collection methods. The data analysis technique used in this study consisted of a contribution analysis, Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ) analysis, and Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis with ArcGIS. The results show that in 2017, the contribution of tobacco products to the plantation sub-sector in Magelang Regencies reached 50.7% and recorded as the highest value compared to other years. The sub-districts that are the basis (LQ≥1) for the tobacco commodity are Sawangan, Kaliangkrik, Windusari, Pakis, and Ngablak. Prospective sub-districts (DLQ≥1) are Borobudur, Ngluwar, Salam, Srumbung, Shaman, Sawangan, Candimulyo, Kajoran, Windusari, Tegalrejo, Pakis, and Grabag Sub-district. Abstract

Siamese oranges are a fruit commodity that is quite popular with a consumption growth rate of 2.5%  from 2018 to 2022. This condition must be balanced with the availability of local oranges in Indonesia, without increasing orange imports. Orange production in Banyuwangi is quite high in Tegaldlimo District, reaching 201,821.5 tons in 2018, eventhough in 2019 it decreased to 91,991.9 tons. The objectives of this research are to determine the competitiveness of Siamese oranges in Banyuwangi, to determine the sensitivity of the competitiveness of Siamese oranges in Banyuwangi, and to formulate a commodity development model for Siamese oranges in Banyuwangi. The methods used in this research were analysis of private benefits (PP), private cost ratio (PCR), social benefits (SP), and domestic resource ratio (DRCR). Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the private profit obtained is IDR111,183,814 while the social benefits obtained is  IDR362,759,134. The PCR value is 0.67 and the DRCR value is 0.37. It is also noticed that A 25% and 50%  reduction in the price of Siamese oranges from the normal price has caused a loss in private profits and caused a PCR value more than 1, whereas in the scenario of a 30% increase in the price of inorganic fertilizer, it has caused a negative value in private profits and a PCR value more than 1. Development of Siamese orange farming in the Regency Banyuwangi is encouraging with combination of strategy intensive agricultural extension and increase production output in terms of quantity, quality and continuity of production. Keywords:  competitiveness, siamese oranges, superior commodities

Abstract

The Government of Trenggalek Regency is strongly committed to advancing the dairy cattle industry and boosting milk production in the region, with particular emphasis on Dompyong Village, Bendungan District.  This research aims to assess the capital requirements for dairy cattle farming and develop a model to strengthen the position of breeders using a profit-sharing system.  A survey method, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches, was employed to gather comprehensive data.  The study revealed that independent dairy cattle farming requires a total capital of IDR 23,150,000.  However, under the profit-sharing system, breeders need only IDR 9,900,000 due to shared costs for purchasing dairy cows.  The profit-sharing arrangement generally involves a 50:50 split between breeders and investors, including income from the sale of calves and milk, resulting in a total profit-sharing value of IDR 23,000,000 per year.  Additionally, breeders receive 10 to 20 percent of the revenue from the sale of dairy cows, depending on the agreement.  The proposed model for strengthening breeders focuses on developing their character and credibility to build investor trust, advocating for written profit-sharing agreements to prevent disputes, and enhancing institutional support to improve business efficiency and provide technical guidance. Keywords : dairy cows; livestock, profit-sharing system.

Abstract

Rubber is a widely cultivated plantation commodity, but the volatility of rubber prices poses a problem for farmers, as it affects the ability to meet food demands in terms of both quantity and quality. The motivation behind this study was to analyze the level of food security and the quality of household food consumption of rubber farmers in Tulang Bawang Udik Sub district, West Tulang Bawang Regency. This study used survey method with a sample of forty-eight rubber farming households from two villages with land areas of less than one hectare, selected by simple random sampling. Food security was measured by cross-classification between the proportion of food expenditure and the level of household energy consumption. Calculation of household food expenditure was based on a monthly period, while the energy consumption level used the actual energy consumption indicator together with the energy consumption indicators obtained by the recall method. The quality of food consumption patterns was  analyzed by determining the PPH score.  Computation of the PPH score was acquired by contrasting the genuine AKE score with the standardizing PPH (100). The outcomes show that the results of the cross-classification of energy sufficiency and the proportion of food expenditure are acquired from the four categories of rubber farmers, and the sustainability of household food security is  27,08%, less is  43,75%, while the proportion of vulnerable is 12,50% and food insecurity is 6,67%. With a PPH score of 62,49, diversity is not achieved in nine food groups of rubber farmer households. Key words: food security, rubber farmer, food pattern of hope (PPH)

This research method is a survey method conducted in South Lampung Regency and Pesawaran Regency. The determination of respondents was carried out using accidental sampling method with a total of 67 red chili farmers. While the determination of trader respondents is done using snowball sampling technique where the implementation is in a chain that starts with conducting interviews to red chili farmers, then farmers will mention traders who become the next respondents. Research data were obtained from October to December 2023. The data analysis method used is the structure, conduct and performance (SCP) method. The analysis of market structure and market behavior is done descriptively qualitative while market performance is analyzed quantitatively by calculating marketing margin, farmer share, and Profit Margin Ratio. The results of market performance calculations show that the most efficient channel is channel II with consideration of the value of farmers share obtained is higher, the value of marketing margin is lower, the chain of channel II is shorter and the price received by end consumers is smaller than the other two channels.
