Abstract

In this research, the object of study is clause. This research is focused on the derivation of clauses known as relative clauses. In this study, it was examined about the differences and similarities in the formation patterns, meanings, and relation characteristics of clauses which are relatively good in two languages, namely between Japanese and Indonesian. The results of this research can be used in the teaching and learning process. As well as useful for readers and audiences who intend to pursue linguistics. The analytical method used in this research is the agih method. Based on the analysis that has been done, several conclusions can be drawn as follows. In Indonesian, a relative clause is indicated by the word "yang" as a conjunctive pronoun. Relative clauses can be used as an expansion technique. There is a slight difference in the formation of Relative Clauses in Indonesian and Japanese, namely, in Indonesian the relative clause can only consist of the word "yang" as a relative clause marker and a predicate which functions as a modifier which is then followed by a core sentence. Whereas in Japanese, a relative clause consists of a minimum of objects and a predicate as a modifier followed by a core sentence. Semantically, relative clauses are viewed from proportions formed by a predicate which states activities, processes, or circumstances. The characteristic of the relation in a relative clause is indicated by the word that comes after the noun.

Abstract

For the Japanese people, the remote work policy which aims to break the chain of the spread of the Corona-19 Virus is a cultural dilemma, because it clashes with the work culture of the people who have a strong work ethic. But in fact, Japan's economic recession rate is not as bad as other developed countries, such as America, China, and Korea. The death rate from Covid-19 is very low. Currently, Japan has started to return to the normal national economy. The mystery behind it all in Japan is the factor of superior immunity or cultural superiority. The assumption is, if because of the cultural superiority factor, what are the basic values that underlie the formation of behavior and culture of Japanese society. This philosophical qualitative study aims to examine philosophical strategies: what are the basic values that underlie the way Japanese people think and behave in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, how to properly solve problems (epistemology), and what normative rules are used to give direction to achieve goals (axiology). Through philosophical descriptive methods, this research can reveal the philosophical values (ontological, epistemological, axiological) behind social phenomena in Japanese society. The results of the study show that Japanese people hold firmly to the value of discipline as an ontological footing, the samurai is used as a way to solve problems, the value of harmony as a normative rule that gives direction to the achievement of goals. The benefits of this research provide enlightenment for the community about understanding the basic problems in society that are often neglected, while many people only focus on the surface of the problem that causes failure to understand.

Abstract

People who have entered the final phase of life or elderly people, are often labeled with negative stereotypes regarding physical, psychological, and sociological changes. Various descriptions of the self-image of the elderly appear in various texts. This article discusses the image of the elderly in two Japanese films, entitled An (Sweet Bean) and Oke Rojin! (Golden Orchestra). By using Activity Theory, Successful Aging, and Loneliness, the research tries to analyze the image of the elderly that is constructed individually and in groups using the Content Analysis method. From the results of a thorough analysis of the components in the film, it can be concluded that the positive image of the elderly is constructed by looking for gaps of excellence from the shortcomings they have, and the positive image does not eliminate the depiction of the negative image. The elderly from both films try to make good use of old age, leaving the works in different ways, namely Tokue Yoshii with his red bean butter and the elderly orchestra with their first music and concerts.
