Abstract

The era of globalization continues to press the poor with lower levels of economic life. Therefore, FLipMAS Batobo with FLipMAS Indonesia and CSR-SMEPP Pertamina (Persero) conduct an analysis approach, strategy that can be implemented to eliminate poverty. One of the strategies undertaken is the empowerment of society with the concept of Community Economic Area (KEM). After conducting survey and location analysis, Kampung Bantalan, Tembilahan Seberang Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency became one of the locations of empowerment called KEM Pertamina Flip Bantalan. The empowerment activities began in December 2014 and the investment process was completed in June 2017 on a land area of ± 6 Ha which then expanded to ± 20 Ha. Programs implemented in KEM Bantalan include infrastructure development such as guard houses, water sources and lighting sources of KEM (PLTS) areas. The fields that activities include agriculture (chili, gambas, eggplant, long bean,), fishery (catfish cultivation, indigo) and plantation (citrus, watermelon, banana, coconut). After almost 3 years the value of IPM of KEM Bantalan population increased by ± 40% from the IPM value of early December 2014 period of 49.89 (low category) to 79.69 (middle and upper category) in the period of March 2017. And up to December 2017, Bantalan has reached Rp. 475.581.100, -. This value will continue to grow considering the area of KEM is still productive.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) seminar and workshop are targeted at lecturers. It is because a lecturer has three main responsibilities which are teaching, doing research, and conducting community service. Lecturers as professional teachers have to understand pedagogy, educational administration, assessment, and evaluation as well as other activities depending on the class situation. In this seminar and workshop, lecturers will be exposed to CAR as a research method which is integrated with the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Thus, research as well as the teaching and learning process could be designed simultaneously. The lecturers are also expected to understand CAR’s framework and be able to write a draft journal which is ready to be published.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Seminar Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan latihan menulis jurnal ini dikhususkan bagi dosen, karena dosen memiliki tiga tugas utama, yaitu mengajar, meneliti, dan mengabdi pada masyarakat. Dosen sebagai pengajar profesional harus memahami pedagogi, administrasi pendidikan, evaluasi dan penilaian dan kegiatan-kegiatan lainnya yang berhubungan dengan situasi kelas. Melalui seminar dan pelatihan ini akan dipaparkan mengenai PTK sebagai metode penelitian yang terintegrasi dengan proses pembelajaran dalam kelas. Dengan demikian, penelitian dan pengajaran dapat dirancang secara bersamaan. Melalui seminar ini diharapkan peserta mampu memahami kerangka PTK dan mampu membuat draf jurnal yang siap dipublikasi.

Abstract

Iron sand is one of the coastal natural resources that have high economic value, but the mining activities  often have a negative impact on the community and the surrounding environment, such as iron sand mining activities in Buni Asih Village, Sukabumi District. Some of the negative impacts are air pollution, decrease in productivity of agricultural land around the mining area, fishing ground becomes farther away, and the mining machine vibration disturbs people activities. This problem can lead to conflicts of natural resources utilization if not addressed immediately. One of the ways to prevent conflict is through community empowerment with integrated and sustainable way. LPPM Surya University in cooperation with BP3IPTEK West Java Province conducted community empowerment activities with the theme of innovative farming and environmental rehabilitation. There are four activities implemented: (1) establishment of Community Training Center (CTC) as the facility for training skills and transfer of technology, (2) Agricultural training with the hydroponic system, (3) microalgae cultivation training, and (4) Greening the environment through planting of breadfruit. The results of the activities showed high enthusiasm and community participation. There were more than 100 people involved in various training held. Agricultural training is considered the most successful program with a high level of understanding, mastery of material and interest to apply the technology. This program will make the community more independent, adaptive to the changes in surrounding environment, and will be able to reduce the conflict potential of coastal resource utilization.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Stroke merupakan masalah kesehatan yang mendapat perhatian khusus karena menyerang siapa saja dan kapan saja, tanpa memandang ras, jenis kelamin, atau usia. Kasus stroke semakin banyak karena gaya hidup masyarakat Indonesia semakin tidak sehat. Makanan bersantan, daging, jeroan dan tinggi garam kerap dijumpai pada masakan masyarakat Sumatera Barat di berbagai rumah makan Padang  membuat banyak orang Sumatera Barat menderita kolesterol tinggi dan hipertensi yang merupakan faktor risiko utama stroke. Tujuan: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pemeriksaan faktor risiko stroke yang bertujuan agar jemaat dan masyarakat sekitar gereja X  mengetahui status kesehatan mereka secara umum dan faktor risiko stroke yang dimiliki oleh setiap jemaat.  Metode: Pemeriksaan kesehatan dilakukan dengan mengukur tekanan darah, kolesterol dan kadar gula darah. Hasil: Berdasarkan faktor yang tidak dapat diubah ditemukan peserta berjenis kelamin perempuan (69,12%) lebih banyak dibandingkan laki-laki (30,88%), jumlah terbanyak (27,94%) peserta berusia antara 25 – 34 tahun. Berdasarkan faktor risiko yang dapat diubah sebagian besar (52,94%) peserta mempunyai tekanan darah normal (sistolik <120 mmHg, diastolic <80 mmHg), sebagian besar (61,77%) mempunyai indeks massa tubuh normal (IMT <25 kg/m2) dan hanya sebagian kecil (10,30%) peserta mempunyai kebiasaan merokok, sebagian besar (97,06%) peserta mempunyai kadar gula darah sewaktu dalam batas normal (<200 mg/dl) dan hampir separuhnya (44,11%) peserta yang mempunyai kadar kolesterol total yang meningkat (≥ 200 mg/dl). Jemaat dan masyarakat sekitar gereja X antusias dalam mengikut kegiatan pemeriksaan ini. Simpulan dan Saran:  Dari pemeriksaan disimpulkan bahwa jemaat dan masyarakat sekitar gereja X cukup berisiko terkena stroke. Disarankan agar jemaat menerapkan pola hidup sehat.

Abstract

The resident of Kelurahan Tambelan Sampit consists of various segments of society. Most of the male work as laborers, only some people that work as government employees. Most of the female in Kelurahan Tambelan Sampit help her husband by being a laundry worker, selling cookies and domestic helpers. Many of them do not work. In terms of economic level, most of the population is in middle until lower economic levels. The Conditions was motivate the team of community service to add skills in entrepreneurship at Kelurahan Tambelan Sampit, one of them by developing entrepreneurial spirit in the plantation sector to some communities in Kelurahan Tambelan Sampit. The product of this plantation can be used for self-consumption, even for sale, considering the high price of hydroponic vegetables. Therefore, the team of community service is motivated to provide information on appropriate technology in the form of information delivery, training and skill enhancement in hydroponic gardening that is to grow plants with water as the media, to obtain new superior product from Kelurahan Tambelan Sampit, i.e. the hydroponic fresh vegetable product . In addition, the community will provide knowledge on the marketing strategies so that the vegetables can be marketed to consumers. Thus, community service activities can form a productive society, self-reliant, high performing, have strong economic strength and improving the welfare of people living standards.

Abstract

Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Cemara mempunyai bahan baku berupa daun kelor tetapi tidak mempunyai teknologi pengolahan, sedangkan tim PkM Jurusan Teknologi Pangan UPH mempunyai teknologi pengolahan daun Kelor.  Tujuan dari PkM yang dilakukan adalah untuk mengajarkan dan melatih KWT Cemara mengenai teknologi pengolahan daun kelor hingga dapat diaplikasikan menjadi produk minuman instan. Metode yang digunakan dalam PkM adalah metode sistem pembelajaran dengan partisipasi aktif (PALS = Partisipatory Action Learning System). Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa KWT Cemara mampu mempelajari teknologi pembuatan minuman instan daun kelor dan dapat mengembangkan menjadi produk yang siap dijual.

Abstract

The piloted-village grant of University of Riau is a community development program which is granted for University of Riau academics to build a village in the sectors of economics and health. In this program, Desa Pulau Banjar Kari was chosen due to their active in developing their agricultural and health. In this program, the academic team from University of Riau supervised the community how to prepare and produce organic fertilizer based on Effective Microorganism technology (active EM, EM5, bokashi, and fermented-plant extracts). The products were applied into their garden as well as for commercial. Furthermore, the product was applied in increasing medicinal plants values.  In order to achieve the aim of this program, the team built a home for the preparation of the product, providing all the equipment and materials and as well as knowledge transfer by doing workshop. The monitoring and evaluation of the programs were done by visiting the area and do evaluation such as observation of the product, the sustainability of product and medicinal plants garden (TOGA). In conclusion, the program was successfully where the people in Desa Pulau Banjar Kari is able to produce the product by themselves and they have been transferring the knowledge to students and people from different villages.

Abstract

Social Media Week (SMW) is an annual event by the Department of Communication and Public Relations, Swiss German University, which explores influence of social media and technology in this digital era. Therefore, as part of the Event Management course, the 2016 Social Media Week is organized by semester 5 students of Communication and Public Relations, and is expected to be the platform for the students to showcase their talents, creativity, communication and project management skills.Since the first time, SMW has become the trade mark of the Department of Communication and Public Relations at SGU. Therefore, the Department always seeks to make improvements every year. Especially because 2016 marks the 10 year anniversary of the CommPR Department. This is the reason for this year's theme: "A Decade of Communication Excellence".The 2016 SMW was held on November 8-10, 2016. There are 3 strong foundations in creating this event: Community service, Education, and Entertainment. Thus, the first two days of this event are filled with workshops aimed at high school students, as part of our community service endeavors. There are several workshops in this SMW that aim to provide many benefits for the participants, where the participants can learn communication skills, and gain experiences to increase their self-confidence. Such workshops include: 1. Photography and Videography; 2. Confidence Gaining; 3. E-Commerce; and, 4. Public Speaking.

Abstract

Until now the production of noodles still depend on the availability of wheat flour as on of the ingredients. Cassava can be utilized as an alternative to subtitute the wheat flour in noodle making. This is the underlying of community services of Food Technology Department on August 10, 2017. This community service aimed to provide training of cassava noodle making on Catholic Church St. Ignatius Loyola, Semplak, Bogor, West Java. The questionnaire result showed that 96% of participants can participate in the training well and they are interested practicing the making of noodles into productive and independent business.
