Abstract

The problem of the study was there any significant difference between the Tenth Grade students of SMA Dharma Bhakti Palembang who were taught trough Mixidea Online Debating Strategy and those who were not. Therefore, the objective of the study was to find out whether or not there is any significant different scores between Tenth Grade students of SMA Dharma Bhakti Palembang who are taught through Mixidea Online Debating Strategy and those who are not. Quasi Experimental research design was applied in this study. The population of this study was 68 of Tenth Grade students of SMA Dharma Bhakti Palembang. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling method non-random sampling. Oral test was used as technique in collecting the data and they were analyzed by using independent sample t-test. From this study, the writer found out that Mixidea Online Debating Strategy was effective to be taught to the Tenth Grade Students of Dharma Bhakti Palembang. It could be seen from the result of t-obtain (22.585) was higher that t-table (4.290) where 34 students based on the table stated. Besides the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the influence of audio visual aids toward tenth grade students’ speaking ability, the influence of traditional teaching toward tenth grade students’ speaking ability, the influence of audio visual aid and learning motivation toward tenth grade students’ speaking ability and the interaction effect of audio visual aid and learning motivation toward the students’ speaking ability. In this research, the researcher used Quantitative researh and was conducted utilizing a Factorial design. The population of this researchwas tenth grade students of MAN 1 Musi Banyuasin Sekayu through two stages random sampling. Techniques of collecting data used questionnaireand test. For technique of data analysis used SPSS 16. The result in this research indicated that Audio Visual aids through traditional teaching was developing as an alternative media to help X grade students to learn speaking ability. In other words, the total of all RQ, The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.

Abstract

This paper reviews about The Students’ Perception towards Using Mobile Application for Business English Learning that the writer consider, may contribute to the overall effectiveness of the learning process of Business English Learning.  The focus of the study is to know the implementation of Using Mobile Application for Business English Learning. The problem of this research is about “What is student’s perception mobile application for Business English Learning?  In line with focus of research is to know student’s perception toward the mobile application for Business English Learning. It is necessary to describe the weaknesses and strengths in Using Mobile Application for Business English Learning into the mobile application: WhatsApp and Google Classroom.  In this study, the writer used qualitative method, the writer provided questionnaires. The questionnaire was given by the writer to 39 students. They were told by the writer to answer the questions to find out the students perception toward English business learning using Mobile Application.  Based on the findings and discussion, using the mobile application (Google classroom & WhatsApp) in Business English learning online classroom is the best choice due to pandemic COVID-19. In term of students perceptions toward using mobile application the writer concluded that it clearly shows the students have perceptions in English learning during the pandemic COVID-19 while using mobile application (Google classroom & WhatsApp); such as learning English using a mobile application makes it easier to learn and they understand learning using a mobile application, but sometimes students understand better if they learn face-to-face.  In term of the students perceptions toward strengths and weaknesses in using mobile application for English learning, the writer conclude that it clearly shows that the strengths and weaknesses of using mobile applications for learning English, most of the answers of students in the strengths of a mobile app is to simplify the learning process due to the covid-19 pandemic. The weaknesses is that learning will be difficult when the internet connection has problems and slow.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out whether or not there is any significant effect on the eight grade students’ learning motivation toward the reading ability after being taught by using comics strips. The population of  this  study was the eight grade students at SMPI Maryam MuraitMartapura in academic 2021/2022. The total number of the population was 142 students, The sample was consisted of 36 students of R1 and 36 students of R2. The method of the study was the experimental method and the data were  collected  through  written  test  in  multiple  choice  form.  The test was administrated twice as the pre-test and post-test. The result were analyzed by using t-test. The students’ Mean score of pretest and post-test in control class of R1 were 46.11 and 6,67. While  the  students’ Mean score  of  Pretest and post  test  in  experimental class of  R2 were 46,67 and 5,56.  The  null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.

Abstract

In Indonesia, curriculum changes continue to occur because they are deemed not in accordance with expectations, so some schools apply the international curriculum. The Cambridge curriculum focuses on students' understanding, knowledge and critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine students' perceptions toward Cambridge curriculum used in learning English at Senior High School Sumsel, because students are the subject of implementing the curriculum. To find out the perceptions of students, researchers first studied how schools implemented the curriculum and the data analysis methods used were triangulation techniques, interviews to find out how the curriculum was implemented, questionnaires to determine student perceptions and documentation to support research results. The results of this study are (1) positive student perceptions. Positive things are shown by some students who are enthusiastic in learning to use the Cambridge curriculum and make students have a global prespective, (2) the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum in South Sumatra is quite good because schools continue to map the national curriculum and Cambridge curriculum and to material that is not the same will be made into additional class.

Abstract

This study aims to improving the students’ writing ability through note-taking technique. This study applied the quasi-experiment method. The population of this study was all of the tenth grade students with a total number of 318 students and 80 students were taken as sample in experimental and control group. In collecting the data, a written test of descriptive paragraph was used, and the data were analysed by using SPSS 23. The result of this study showed that experimental group students’ average score in pre-test was 65.10 and in post-test it was 72.26 while in control group, students’ average score in pre-test 66.03 and in post-test it was 69.88. the value t-obtained was 3.082 which was higher than the value of t-table 2.000 at the significant level 0.05 in two tailed test with 78 (df). It was assumed that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there was significant difference between the students achievement in writing descriptive paragraph.

Abstract

The objective of the researcher was to find out whether there was any significant effect toward the students who were taught listening using the cake application of the tenth-grade students of state senior high school 2 of  Tungkal Jaya. The population in this study was all class X for the academic year 2021/2022 . The total population was 153 students from 5 classes . The sample consists of students taken from classes X MIA 1 and X MIA 3 using purposive sampling . A quasi - Experimental design with Nanequvalent control group design pre - test and post - test was used in this study . In collecting the data , the researcher used a written test , and then the data was analyzed using normality , homogeneity , and a t - test . The homogeneity test score for the pre-test and post-test experiments was 0.214. The normality test was more significant than 0.05, Furthermore , the calculation result of the compatibility t - test was 2,322 , which was higher than the critical value of t - table 1.71, The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Meaning that there was a significant effect toward the students who taught listening using the cake application of Tungkal Jaya and those who were not.

Abstract

Reading is a critical English ability for students to attain develop master to examine English, it is crucial to the destiny of students who want to be better degrees of studying. This study was aimed at finding out the exploration of multimodal text to energize reading with visual representation and comprehension. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study were, observation, documentation and questionnaire. Based on the result of questionnaire in graph of pie, it was found that 53% of students answered fully agree and 39% of 35 students answered agree, so it can be concluded a students to give the positive perception about multimodal text as a media to energize their reading, and it can be conclude that the tenth grade students of State Vocational High School 5 of Palembang has positive perception. So students can enjoy and explore the multimodal text with their own choices.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to increasing vocabulary and learning activeness of fifth grade students at Insan Mandiri Cendekia Palembang. The method which used in this study is classroom action research where it took place in 2 cycles. The result of this study found that there was improvement of students' vocabulary and learning activeness. The score of minimum completeness criteria of English lesson was 70. In vocabulary test cycle 1, there were 16students who passed the minimum completeness criteria or 49% of students. And in vocabulary test cycle 2, there were 29 students who passed the minimum completeness criteria or 89% of students. There was improvement of student's vocabulary as 40%where from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The students’ learning activeness increased during the teaching learning process whereas it indicated the students’ learning activeness had increased.

Abstract

The main problem of this study was " is there any significant effect on the students' listening achievement after being taught by using Nearpod and those who are not?. The method used in this study was quantitative or quasi-experimental method. The data collected by using written test and online based test on Nearpod Website. The data were analyzed through matched t-test formula and percentage of analysis to find out the effectiveness of teaching listening through Nearpod and Conventional Method. It was found out that the value of t-obtained was 8.12 where the value of the t-table at 0.05 significant level for two tailed with 18 (df) was 2.100. It means that there was significant difference between the result of pre-test and post-test especially the experimental class. It can be stated that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It is indicated that Nearpod Website Strategy could increase students’ listening ability.
