The purpose of the analytical research conducted by researcher was to find moral values in the lyrics of the best song of Sami Yusuf and the theoretical implication of Sami Yusuf's song for Teaching English as Foreign Language (TEFL). To find out the moral values contained in the song, the researcher examines each song's lyrics that contain educational moral values by applying several theories such as: Linda and Richard Moral Value, Webster and Buzan. This type of research is descriptive analysis research, where this research is carried out by analysing and describing the object of research which is supported by expert theories and various library sources. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method. The sources of data were seven songs from the best song of Sami Yusuf. Method of collecting the data is triangulation: lyrics, interview and book review. The data of this study were analysed by following steps: reading tenth lyrics from the album, understanding the contents and analysing the moral values in the lyrics of songs. After analysing there were ten moral values contained in the lyrics of the song, it could build the good character for student and for the theoretical implication for TEFL could be concluded that moral values could be taught through songs.

The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of role play technique and learning motivation towards the tenth grade students’ speaking ability at Mandiri vocational school of Palembang. To know students’ speaking ability in this study, students were assessed by oral test. The test was analyzed by using descriptive statistic, normality, homogeneity, pair sampled t-test, independent sample t-test and two way ANOVA. Based on the result on two way ANOVA by SPSS 22, the result showed that there was significant influence of role play towards the tenth grade students’ speaking ability, there was significant influence of using role play and conventional teaching technique towards the tenth grade students’ speaking ability between students who have high and low learning motivation at Mandiri Vocational school, there was interaction effect of role play and learning motivation towards the tenth grade students’ speaking ability. It can be concluded that role play technique was quite effective to improve students speaking achievement.          Â

This Objectives of the study  were to find out: (1) whether or not Project-Based Learning (PBL) could make a significant difference in increasing both students’ speaking achievement and self-confidence, and (2) the contribution of PBL towards both students’ speaking achievement and self-confidence. This study employs factorial design where the students were equally divided into two groups. The results showed that (1) there was a significant difference both in speaking achievement (t=0.581, p<.000) and self-confidence (t=7.968,p<.000) of the experimental group after being taught using PBL, (2) there was also a significant difference between experimental and control groups both in speaking ability (t=2.307, p<.027) and self-confidence (t=3.595, p<.001) , (3) the contribution of PBL to the students’ speaking achievement was 99.7% and to self-confidence was 92.7%. In conclusion, PBL could be considered as an effective method in teaching speaking and in increasing students’ self-confidence.

This study aimed at determining: (1) the correlations of language learning strategies; (2) the corelations  of reading interest; and (3) the correlations both language learning strategies and reading interest towards the students English study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. This study was a qualitative study using simple regression method. The respondents were 60 students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. Data collection technique in this study were questioners and documentation. Validation test in this study were construct validity and content validity, while the reliability test was Cronbach’s Alpha. Normality test, homogeneity test, and linearity test had been conducted before data were analyzed using simple and multiple regression technique. The findings showed that (1) There is no significant correlations of language learning strategies on students’ reading achievement of English study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang value of 0.582; (2) There is significant correlations of reading interest on students’ reading achievement of English study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang value of 0.029; (3) There is no significant correlations of language learning strategies and reading interest simultaneously on students’ reading achievement of English study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang value of 0.082. There is simultaneous influence between language learning strategies and reading interest with reading achievement.

This study aims to find out: (1) Is there a significant difference in the Sketch to Stretch strategy in improving students' reading skills in offline learning?, (2) Does conventionally have a significant difference in improving students' reading skills through online learning? and (3) Is there any contribution to increasing students' reading ability by increasing motivation to learn offline and online learning?. To determine the effectiveness of the Sketch to Stretch strategy, researchers had taken two research samples. The first group was taught using the Sketch to Stretch strategy in offline learning and the second used conventional strategies in online learning. To collect data, both groups were given a speech test and a learning motivation questionnaire. The results showed that there was a significant difference in learning motivation in the reading ability of students of the 1A semester English study program after being taught using the Sketch to Stretch strategy. So it can be concluded that the Sketch to Stretch strategy learning has an effect on reading ability and increasing student learning motivation.

This research aimed at describing and analysing intrinsic elements and moral values depicted in the movie “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle†directed by Andy Serkis. Content analysis method was used in doing this research. Method of data collecting is by watching the movie, and then the data were analysed by using triangulation: movie, interview and book review. Based on the findings of the study, the intrinsic elements that are participating informing a story of the movie consist of character, setting, plot, theme or statement and subject matter. While there are 7 moral values that can be depicted through the movie. They are love and affection, struggle, kindness, courage, bravery, wisdom and strong believe. The most dominant one is bravery. By Analysing the elements and the moral values of the movie, hopefully will build a good character for students and also will give them inspiration that learning English by watching movie is more enjoyable than learning through book.

This research is aimed at improving the ninth-grade students’ speaking skill through Problem Based Learning (PBL) method when it is applied in teaching speaking. The research was carried out through action research. The researcher acted with the students and the English teacher as the collaborator. The subjects of the research were 20 students of Ninth Grade of SMPN 3 Tungkal Jaya, Musi Banyuasin in the academic year of 2021/2022. The data collection included the application of Problem Based Learning method in three cycles. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative data. The research findings showed that Problem Based Learning method improve students’ speaking skill. It enables students to practice some speaking techniques in the form of group work, and it eases them in improving speaking. The improvement of speaking skill can be seen from the result of speaking test which has the mean score test 1 is 50%, test 2 is 70% and test 3 is 85%. This research also showed that the activities in Problem Based Learning enhance students’ skill in improving speaking skill. The conclusion suggests that the application of Problem Based Learning method improve the ninth grade students’ speaking skill effectively at SMPN 3 Tungkal Jaya, Musi Banyuasin.

This study is aimed at finding out the students' needs in learning English, particularly English for Public Health as part of ESP regarding four language skills and some language areas.This study was a qualitative descriptive study with 150 students of Public Health Department as the subjects. The data were collected by using a questionnaire. A semi-structured questionnaire was distributed to the participants to gather information related to the students' needs and wants.The study analyzes the data from the closed questions by using simple statistics and the open question by using interpretations.The results showed that the students were confidentin their Reading skillsbut not in Grammar, they also perceived that writing skill is the most important skill to learn. For each sub-skill, the students perceived that the most important skills to learn are including understanding vocabulary from the context (reading), writing correct sentences (writing), pronouncing words correctly (speaking), and listening to English media (listening). Related to their wants, the students not only learn English to support their academic field, but also to prepare after graduation.

Students’ low motivation and anxiety are common problem faced by the English teachers in teaching English as foreignlanguage, therefore, think pair and share as one of cooperative learning approach can be applied in solving those problem. The objective of the study was to find out the difference of students’ speaking skill who were taught by using Think Pair and Share and those who were not. The method that was used in this study was quasi experimental design. The population and sample of this study was the eight grader of SMP N 1 PajarBulan. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test. The result of the study showed that there was significant result of students’ speaking skill after being taught by using Think Pair and Share. It can be proved by comparing the result of the t-table and t-obtained. The statistical result showed that t-obtained was higher than t-table. So, it can be said that Think Pair Share can be used in improving students’ speaking skill.

The objectives of the study are to find out whether or not(1) There is significant influence of extensive reading towards students’ reading comprehension between those who have height reading interest and those who have low reading interest at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan (2) There is significant influence of conventional reading strategy toward the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension between who those have high reading interest and those who have low reading interest at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan. (3) There is significant influence of extensive reading strategy and conventional reading strategy towards the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension between those who have high reading interest and those who have low reading interest at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan.(4) There is significant interaction effect of extensive reading strategy and reading interest on students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tulung Selapan. This study used Saphiro-Wilk test and it used Levene's test in testing the homogenity. It was found that the significance value for homogeneity test (Levene’s test) was 0.021 which is lower than 0.05, therefore the data was not considered homogeny, so the writers took the equal variances not assumed on t-test. Next, the significance value for t-test was 0.000. It showed that there was a significant difference of extensive reading strategy and no treatment reading strategy on the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension who have low reading interest because the sig. value was lower than 0.05. That means the null hypothesis (Ho3b) is rejected.
