Abstract

Public trust in government institutions constitutes a fundamental foundation for establishing legitimate and accountable governance. This study aims to analyze the communication strategies employed by the Public Relations Office of Medan Tuntungan Subdistrict in building public trust through the management of its Instagram account. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the four-stage public relations management model developed by Cutlip, Center, and Broom, comprising defining the problem, planning and programming, taking action and communicating, and evaluating the program, and were presented in a narrative form. The findings reveal that the public relations unit implemented a multichannel communication strategy integrating formal news-style Instagram content and persuasive flyers, information dissemination through neighborhood heads and civil servants acting as opinion leaders, and active response mechanisms for addressing public inquiries and misinformation. The effectiveness of this strategy was reflected in tangible changes in public behavior, including a substantial increase in residents visiting the subdistrict office following the publication of public service information. These findings demonstrate that the strategic and consistent management of Instagram plays a significant role in strengthening public trust in subdistrict government institutions.

Abstract

The high rate of out-of-wedlock pregnancy in Indonesia represents a social problem requiring a comprehensive legal response. Article 53 of the Compilation of Islamic Law permits the marriage of pregnant women without waiting for childbirth following the Shafi'i school, while the Hanbali school prohibits it until the woman gives birth and fulfills repentance requirements. Previous studies have compared the positions of both schools descriptively but have not explained the epistemological roots of their differences. This study aims to analyze how the Shafi'i and Hanbali schools construct their legal positions on the marriage of out-of-wedlock pregnant women and to explain their differences through the framework of Sadd adz-Dzari'ah. The method employed is juridical-normative library research using comparative and conceptual approaches, drawing on primary fiqh and usul al-fiqh texts of both schools. This study finds that the difference between the two schools is epistemological: the Shafi'i school categorizes such marriage as dzari'ah qalilah because the harm of zina is considered to have already occurred and the nasab relationship is legally severed, while the Hanbali school categorizes it as dzari'ah ghalibah because the ease of marriage during pregnancy is seen as dominantly weakening the deterrence function of Islamic law at the social level. These findings fill the gap left by previous descriptive-comparative studies and offer an analytical model based on Sadd adz-Dzari'ah typology replicable for similar jurisprudential issues. Practically, this study provides an argumentative basis for evaluating the preventive dimension of KHI Article 53.

Abstract

The falsification of barcodes or notification numbers issued by the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) on skincare product packaging constitutes the dissemination of misleading information that may cause economic losses and endanger consumer health. This study aims to analyze the legal status of falsified marketing authorization information and the forms of legal protection available to consumers under Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection and BPOM regulations. The study employs a normative legal method using statutory and conceptual approaches. Primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials were collected through library research and analyzed qualitatively and prescriptively using grammatical, systematic, and teleological interpretation. The findings demonstrate that the falsification of notification numbers violates consumers’ rights to safety and accurate information, as well as business actors’ obligation to act in good faith. Preventive protection includes product notification, market surveillance, accurate labeling, legality verification, and consumer education. Repressive protection comprises product recalls, sanctions, complaint mechanisms, dispute resolution, and compensation. However, victim protection remains fragmented across product supervision, law enforcement, and loss-recovery mechanisms, particularly in digital commerce. Therefore, an integrated marketing authorization verification system, stronger accountability of digital platforms, improved inter-agency coordination, and accessible complaint and compensation mechanisms are required.

Abstract

Walimatul 'Urusy is a tradition recommended in Islam as a form of gratitude and a means of announcing a marriage. This study aims to analyze the concept, legal foundation, and practice of walimatul 'urusy in contemporary Muslim society. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from the Qur'an, Hadith, fiqh books, scholarly books, and relevant journal articles, and were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method. The findings reveal that walimatul 'urusy holds an important position in Islamic law as a means of publicizing marriage and strengthening social relationships. Its legal basis is derived from the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which encourages the implementation of a wedding feast according to one's capability. In contemporary society, the practice of walimatul 'urusy has undergone various changes due to cultural influences and socio-economic conditions. Therefore, its implementation should remain guided by Islamic principles, emphasizing simplicity, public benefit (maslahah), and avoiding extravagance (israf).

Abstract

The concept of gender equality often raises issues in the division of household tasks and responsibilities, especially when confronted with Islamic jurisprudence, which generally establishes functional roles for husbands and wives. This study aims to analyze Islamic views on gender equality, detail the diversity of jurisprudential views (ikhtilaf) regarding the division of roles between husband and wife, and examine the application of gender equality principles in household management. This research uses a library research method with a qualitative approach, collecting data from cross-madhhab fiqh literature, interpretations, and scientific articles. The results show that Islam promotes the principle of proportional justice (equity, i.e., the balanced fulfillment of rights and obligations according to capacity) while acknowledging equal human value (equality before the Sharia). Role differentiation is based on biological and psychological fitrah (innate characteristics of creation), rather than absolute kodrat (rigid determinism), thereby avoiding the creation of a hierarchy of values. While the majority of scholars establish the husband as the leader (qawwam) and main breadwinner, and the wife as the primary manager of the household, Islamic jurisprudence also recognizes flexibility and diverse perspectives regarding women's public roles and household management through the principles of mutual consultation (musyawarah) and benefit (maslahah). This division is positioned as a functional differentiation. In conclusion, the application of gender equality aligns with Islam if interpreted as proportional justice that considers the fitrah of each individual, rather than a rigid division that ignores the diversity of Sharia perspectives and the actual conditions of the family.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has fundamentally reshaped journalistic practices globally, yet its implications within Islamic higher education contexts remain insufficiently explored in academic literature. This study investigates the transformation of journalistic practices among students of the Communication Studies Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) in the AI era, with particular attention to the interplay between AI literacy, Islamic journalistic ethics, and human resource readiness toward the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with fifteen purposively selected informants, complemented by observation and documentation. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman's (1994) interactive model, with source triangulation applied to ensure validity. Findings demonstrate that AI has permeated all stages of student journalistic practice, from ideation and information gathering to manuscript editing and digital content distribution. While AI adoption enhances efficiency, productivity, and creative exploration, it simultaneously poses critical challenges, including technological dependency, insufficient fact-checking, algorithmic bias, digital plagiarism, and the erosion of critical thinking and journalistic ethics. AI literacy emerged as the most significant determinant of responsible technology use, while Islamic values of truthfulness (shidq), justice ('adl), and trustworthiness (amanah) serve as essential moral anchors in navigating AI integration. This study contributes theoretically by extending technological determinism theory within an Islamic journalistic education context and practically by proposing an AI-integrated journalistic curriculum model for Islamic universities aligned with the Indonesia Emas 2045 national development agenda.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the formulation and implementation of Realitasonline.id’s digital communication strategy in Medan, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its efforts to optimize mediapreneurial networks. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with a single-case study design conducted from June to July 2026, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that the strategy formulation has shifted toward a data-driven approach by utilizing Google Analytics and a content management system (CMS) to produce hyperlocal content and popular thematic coverage, with a monthly production target of 1,500–2,000 articles. At the implementation stage, the media organization applies the principles of a lean digital newsroom by streamlining coordination among contributors certified through the Journalist Competency Test (UKW), managing community engagement through WhatsApp and Facebook groups, and diversifying business revenue streams. Network optimization is supported by Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure operated through Promedia and an internship management system. However, its implementation is constrained by staff members performing multiple roles, intense competition over publication speed, and fluctuations in audience trends. The study concludes that integrating a data-driven digital communication strategy with a lean newsroom structure is crucial to ensuring business sustainability and strengthening the cohesion of the operational network of regional online media.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technology has increased demand for high-quality sports documentation, particularly among Indonesia’s mini soccer communities. Starcam offers an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based sports videography service using auto-tracking camera technology to record football matches automatically. However, limited public awareness and understanding of AI-powered sports videography have constrained the adoption of this service. This project aimed to develop and implement an Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) strategy to enhance Starcam’s brand awareness in Pekanbaru. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Starcam management and members of the local mini soccer community. The project was designed using the Integrated Marketing Communication framework, supported by the AISAS model to examine digital consumer behavior and the SOSTAC planning framework to formulate marketing strategies. The findings reveal that the primary challenge lies not in the technology itself but in the low level of public understanding regarding the benefits and value proposition of AI-based sports videography. Based on these findings, the project proposes an integrated communication strategy consisting of market education, digital storytelling, social media optimization, collaboration with football communities, and flexible service packages. These initiatives are expected to strengthen Starcam’s brand awareness, increase consumer engagement, and encourage wider adoption of AI-based sports videography services among amateur football communities in Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Employee turnover intention remains one of the major challenges in the retail industry, as it contributes to increased recruitment and training costs, reduced workforce productivity, and disruptions to organizational stability. Previous studies have consistently identified job stress as a significant psychological factor influencing employees' intention to leave their organizations. This study aims to examine and synthesize empirical evidence regarding the relationship between job stress and turnover intention among retail employees through a literature review employing a systematic narrative approach. Relevant literature was retrieved from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Emerald Insight, covering publications from 2022 to 2026. A total of 15 articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria were analyzed using descriptive analysis, thematic analysis, and narrative synthesis. The findings indicate a consistently positive relationship between job stress and turnover intention. Factors such as excessive workload, emotional labor, abusive customer behavior, job insecurity, and burnout were found to increase employees' intention to leave their organizations. Conversely, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, supportive leadership, job security, and work–life balance emerged as protective factors that mitigate turnover intention. These findings highlight the importance of effective job stress management, coupled with the enhancement of employees' psychological resources, as a strategic approach to improving employee retention within the retail sector.

Abstract

Gosong Telaga Beach, located in Aceh Singkil Regency, is a marine tourism destination with considerable potential to be developed as a leading regional tourist destination. Its natural attractions, including coastal scenery, expansive sandy shores, and a relatively pristine coastal environment, constitute its primary appeal to visitors. However, this potential has not been fully supported by an effective marketing communication strategy, resulting in limited exposure and destination competitiveness compared with other tourist destinations. This study aims to analyze the marketing communication strategies employed to promote Gosong Telaga Beach as a leading tourist destination and to identify the factors that hinder their implementation. The study adopts a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data are collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving representatives of the Aceh Singkil Regency Tourism Office, destination managers, local communities, tourism business operators, and tourists as research informants. Data are analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings are expected to demonstrate that the marketing communication strategies implemented include the use of social media, digital promotion, word-of-mouth marketing, the publication of tourism activities, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the destination’s image and attractiveness. The study also identifies several obstacles, including limited promotional budgets, inadequate supporting facilities, low levels of community participation, limited human resource capacity, and competition from other tourist destinations. Therefore, a more integrated marketing communication strategy is required through the strengthening of destination branding, the optimization of digital media, and collaboration among stakeholders. These measures are expected to increase tourist visits and support the sustainable development of Gosong Telaga Beach as a leading tourist destination in Aceh Singkil Regency.
