Abstract

Fruit peel waste was one of carbohydrate feedstock for producing bioethanol. The research main purpose was analyzing the impact of yeast mass addition in fermentation process of pineapple and papaya peels mixture (PPPM) for making of bioethanol. The procedure was carried out by adding 10 grams of glucose for each treatment, the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae mass varied from 1 to 4 % w/v, and the fermentation time were 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours at temperature 30 0C. The initial sugar containment was tested by Brix refractometer and the bioethanol composition was characterized using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. The initial sugar content of the PPPM starter was range from 3 – 5 %. By addition of yeast weight (1 - 4% w/v), the comparison of bioethanol yield were in range 2 to 5% using hydrometer alcohol and in the range of 3,013–3,403% while using GC-MS. In conclusion, the sugar content of PPPM substrate and yeast starter percentage have significant effect on bioethanol earning

Abstract

Abstract Quality control is the most important thing in the competition in the industrial world which is of course on packaging products in order to monitor and evaluate production activities to ensure whether they meet the standards set by the company or not. The purpose of this study can help companies to help companies overcome the causes of defects and provide suggestions using the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) method. From the data processing, it was found that the number of production was 162,100 pcs and the number of product defects was 4307 pcs. From the results of the analysis, the authors provide suggestions for improvement by focusing on the most dominant types of defects in the past so that repair activities can run effectively.

Abstract

In the development of the modern industrial world today and product quality supervision is an activity that urgently needs to be carried out by every production activity in making products. Before the product is included in the storage warehouse, the finished product will be rechecked by the Quality Control section, seeing if the product is worth storing in the warehouse to be given to the customer. The purpose of this study is to calculate the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) value, to find out what factors affect the occurrence of defects in the product, and provide proposed improvements to the production of Bracket Hanger products. The method used is Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA). From the results of sorting the Risk Priority Number (RPN) an analysis will be carried out on each indicator value to find out which value has the greatest impact on the achievement of the RPN value. These results are used as a reference in providing product improvement proposals

Abstract

The challenge to solve plastic pollution in Indonesia has always been a concern for environmentalist, Moreover, the polystyrene plastic resin which has been proved as the major contributor for marine debris in Indonesia coastline. Using findings from prior studies, this paper attempts to discuss biodegradation by microorganisms in dealing with polystyrene waste. The analytical methodologies for measuring the capability of microorganisms in degrading polystyrene is examined. The most frequent and common analytical methodology used are the FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, GPC, and TGA. These analytical methodologies along with other complementary methods have proved that specific bacteria, fungi, and worms are capable of degrading polystyrene waste. This perhaps may be one of the less toxic, environmentally friendly solutions for plastic pollution in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pengendalian kualitas merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting dalam sebuah dunia usaha, karena dalam pengendalian kualitas dapat memberikan dampak kepada kepuasan pelanggan dan tingkat ekonomis sebuah usaha. UMKM Kerupuk Dinda adalah suatu usaha mikro yang memproduksi kerupuk bawang, dan setiap masa produksinya tidak selalu menghasilkan produk yang bagus, adapula produknya yang mengalami kecacatan. Dari kecacatan produk yang dialami oleh UMKM Kerupuk Dinda, penulis menyarankan adanya perbaikan pada kualitas produk melalui metode seven tools. Dalam metode seven tools dapat membantu sebuah usaha untuk mengetahui tingkat kecacatan produk yang paling dominan, megetahui batas kecacatan melalui control chart memudahkan membaca asal muasal kecacatan produk, dan usulan perbaikan sebab akibat. Dengan demikian suatu usaha dapat memperbaiki dan menemukan strategi yang tepat untuk usahanya dalam pengendalian kualitas.

Abstract

Lhokseumawe is one of the cities in Aceh Province that the Dutch had visited during the colonial period. One of the traces as historical evidence is the residence of the Dutch who are different from the dwellings of the local community. Colonial architecture is an architectural style that comes from a mixture of European architecture and through a process of adaptation to form Dutch architecture during the Indonesian period under Dutch rule. This colonial architecture adapted to the local environment and climate resulting in a suitable and comfortable building. The object of the research is a residential house in Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City. In this area there are historical buildings identified as the Dutch Colonial Heritage Area. The purpose of the study was to identify the existence of a residential house in Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City through the external form of residential housing (vertical and horizontal organization of space, roof model, door model, window model, ladder laying system, ornaments and orientation) related to the external form of the building. This research method is a qualitative method through direct observation at the research site and interviews with homeowners. This research is focused on facade elements or on the outer form of residential houses (vertical and horizontal organization of space, roof models, door models, window models) related to the external form of the building.

Abstract

This review focuses on the synthesis, structural study and application of hydroxamic acid (HA) and its complexes with organotin (IV) to produce organotin (IV) hydroxamate. Organotin (IV) compounds have received great attention in research field as a photostabilizer in PVC and its application in different aspect, such as marine (in anti-fouling paints and coatings for the protection of ship hulls) and as precursors for SnO2-coatings on glass and in biological field. Different studies done by researchers highlighted on the organotin (IV) complexes and its applications. This article summarize various studies on organotin(IV) complexes and their applications.

Abstract

One of the new materials that has developed recently is graphene. Graphene is a new closed, strongest, and superior material in the world today which is formed from a single layer of carbon atoms which has a hexagonal structure resembling a honeycomb. This study aims to determine the effect of graphite size on the quality of graphene produced using the graphene oxide reduction method. This method uses sodium hypophosphite reductor and oxidizing agent KMnO4, sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The quality of graphene is observed by looking at the electrical conductivity produced. This study varied the size of the graphite (106 µm, 125 µm, 150 µm, 180 µm dan 250 µm) and the reductor volume variation (3 ml, 5 ml, 7 ml, 9 ml dan 11 ml). The graphene oxide solution was heated in hot water and then filtered, ultrasonically for 3 hours, and in the oven for 6 hours at 80oC. From the results of the electrical conductivity test, the best results were obtained at a graphite size of 106 µm while for the volume of the reductor the best results were at 11 ml. Graphene was characterized using FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) and SEM (scanning electron microscope). The results of the characterization of the powder samples show that there has been a change in the structure of graphite to graphene. The size of the graphite and the volume reducing agent has a significant effect on the graphene’s electrical conductivity.

Abstract

In the current work, a simple method to prepare ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) by the interaction of zinc nitrate and KOH within an aqueous medium was presented. The yielded powder was calcined and examined by the UV-Visible (UV–Vis) optical absorption, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) Spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) images, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The ZnO NPs showed an identification peak at nearly 372 nm during the FTIR test. Furthermore, when the particle size distribution was examined, it showed an average value of 27.34 nm.

Abstract

Jaringan SPAM di Kecamatan Bayan mengalami kerusakan setelah adanya gempa bumi pada tahun 2018, sehingga menimbulkan penurunan tingkat pelayanan di daerah layanan. Pemerintah Kabupaten Lombok Utara telah menyusun perencanaan optimalisasi SPAM dan akan segera dilaksanakan konstruksinya. Adanya perencanaan dan pelaksanaan konstruksi SPAM tersebut, diperlukan kajian untuk mengetahui dampak yang akan ditimbulkan kepada sosial masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dampak potensial dari kegiatan optimalisasi SPAM terhadap sosial masyarakat di Kecamatan Bayan, serta langkah mitigasi setiap dampak yang ditimbulkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif.  Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Pelaksanaan wawancara dilakukan kepada informan yang dianggap benar-benar mengetahui dan terlibat langsung pada permasalahan penelitian ini, yakni pihak PDAM, Pemerintah Desa, Tokoh Masyarakat, dan Masyarakat Adat Bayan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pembangunan optimalisasi SPAM di Kecamatan Bayan dapat menimbulkan dampak positif dan dampak negatif. Jenis dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan adalah terancamnya kelestarian mata air, mengganggu kenyamanan kehidupan masyarakat, mengganggu kesehatan masyarakat karena adanya debu dan kebisingan, dan gangguan akses (lalu lintas) masyarakat. Sedangkan dampak positifnya adalah terpenuhinya kebutuhan air minum masyarakat dan aktivitas pariwisata di Kecamatan Bayan. Dampak negatif ini dapat diminimalisir angka kejadiannya dengan melaksanakan langkah-langkah mitigasi yang tepat, begitu juga dengan dampak positifnya tetap dilakukan pengelolaan yang baik agar manfaat SPAM dapat diperoleh oleh semua pihak.
