Abstract

The concepts of fractions and their operations is one of the materials that elementary school students need to master it. This research aims to produce student’s learning trajectory in understanding the concept of fractions. The approach used is Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) Approach and the media used is a chessboard. The use of the chessboard context is the initial activity in learning and followed with several questions related to the context used. The research method used is design research with type of validation studies. The research subjects in this study were three students in fourth grade of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Al Munawwarah Jambi City. This research produces a learning trajectory (LT) which contains a series of learning processes that assist students to understand the concept of fractions. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the learning trajectory using a chessboard context could assist students to understand the concepts of fractions well. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the difference in the ability to understand mathematical concepts between students who use classroomscreen media and google jamboard media. The population in this study was a student of class V of SD Negeri Blok C Kota Cilegon Academic Year 2021/2022. The selection of samples by means of total sampling, obtained class V students consisting of V-A as a control class and V-B into an experimental class. The experimental class conducted learning with classroomscreen media, while the control class did learning with google jamboard media. Data retrieval is obtained by test methods to determine the ability to understand the mathematical concepts which are then analyzed with average difference tests. The result of the research obtained is the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of experimental class better than the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of control class.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an individual’s ability to formulate, employ, and interpret mathematics in various contexts. One of the factors that influence this ability is self-efficacy. This study aims to obtain an overview of the mathematical literacy ability of junior high school students in terms of self-efficacy. The research method used is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The instruments used were researchers as the research implementer, a self-efficacy scale, a mathematical literacy ability test, and interview guidelines. The subjects of this study were three students who had filled out the self-efficacy scale, consisting of one student with a high level of self-efficacy, one student with a moderate level of self-efficacy, and one student with a low level of self-efficacy. The results show that student with a high level of self-efficacy can meet three indicators of mathematical literacy ability and use the knowledge gained from their experience in solving problems, student with a moderate level of self-efficacy can meet two indicators of mathematical literacy ability and tend to try to solve the given problem, meanwhile student with a low level of self-efficacy only meet one indicator of mathematical literacy ability and less aware of the role of mathematics in everyday life.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Project Based Learning-STEM (PjBL-STEM) associated with the variable Mathematical Problem Solving Ability (KPM) on trigonometric material. The research method uses a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The problem-solving abilities studied include: understanding the problem, planning for completion, completing according to plan, re-examining the calculation results. The results and conclusions of this study are (a) the effectiveness of the learning process of teachers and students can be categorized as good based on the average results on the observation sheet that has been assessed by the observer; (b) based on independent t-test there are differences in the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities who receive STEM-based Project Based Learning (PjBL-STEM) learning with conventional learning, where STEM-based Project Based Learning (PjBL-STEM) learning has an average score N-gain 0.53 higher than conventional learning with an average N-Gain 0.31. Abstract

The design principles of online distance learning that have been developed in previous studies need to be investigated in the process of adaptation and implementation. The process provides important insights to refine these principles to make them more appropriate to the learning context. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of adaptation and implementation of online distance learning design principles by preservice mathematics teachers. The present study employed qualitative research which is based on the activity theory model. The results of this study reveal the challenges experienced by preservice mathematics teachers in adapting and implementing online distance learning design principles. In addition, this study also finds that the community around the preservice mathematics teachers has an important role in supporting them to design and implement online distance learning.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive study that aims to describe the errors made by students in solving high order thinking skills (HOTS) type math problems based on Newman. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Majasari, Pandeglang Regency with a research subject of 21 students, which will then be selected as many as 6 students to be interviewed. The research instrument used in this research is a test instrument in the form of a HOTS-type math problem with 3 straight-line equations as well as interview guidelines. The results of the study obtained information that the errors made by students when working on high order thinking skills (HOTS) type math problems with Straight Line Equations material were divided into five types of error categories, namely reading errors (errors in reading problems) of 3.6% , comprehension error (error in understanding the problem given) by 28.8%, transformation error (error in problem transformation) by 11.2%, processing skill error (error in process skill) 31.6%, and encoding error (error in processing skill). coding or conclusion error)24.8%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content validity of the test instrument for the mathematical critical thinking ability of junior high school students using the FRISCO indicator as an alternative solution to help teachers realize learning that develops students' mathematical critical-thinking ability. This study uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model. However, the stages are limited to the ADD (Analysis, Design, and Development). The instrument used an instrument validation sheet consisting of three assessment aspects: content feasibility assessment, language aspect assessment, and assessment of the suitability of items with FRISCO indicators, presented in 26 questions. The validation was carried out by five Experts in Mathematics Education Experts using the Delphi technique. Data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of data analysis, the product of the mathematical critical thinking ability test instrument with the FRISCO theory, 92% have met the content feasibility assessment criteria and are categorized as very valid. In the aspect of language feasibility, 86.60% of the assessment criteria have been met and classified as very valid categories. In the aspect of the suitability of the items with the FRISCO indicators, 92.20% of the assessment criteria have been met and classified as very valid categories. Thus, overall, 90.20% of the criteria for assessing the feasibility of the critical thinking ability test instrument with the FRISCO theory have been met and classified as very valid categories, and are suitable for use in learning.
