Abstract

Limited self and environmental awareness makes children vulnerable to abduction; therefore, from an early age they need to be equipped with safety knowledge in line with the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). This study aims to analyze the application of P5 principles through the AVOID Game project in kindergarten. This study aims to analyze the application of P5 principles in the implementation of the Avoid Game project in kindergarten. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects involved were the principal, teachers, parents, and kindergarten students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis followed Sugiyono’s model, including data collection, data display, data reduction, categorization, and construction. Data validation was conducted using technique triangulation involving interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Avoid Game, when implemented with holistic, contextual, child-centered, and explorative principles, can provide knowledge and understanding of self-awareness, recognizing close and trusted individuals, distinguishing potentially dangerous strangers, as well as responding appropriately and seeking help from safe people or places in risky situations. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of technology-based educational play (the Avoid Game) as a learning medium for implementing P5. Furthermore, this research has implications for learning practices, as it can be used as a variety of play activities that foster independence and support the six domains of child development, including religious and moral values, cognitive, language, motor, socio-emotional, and artistic development, both in extracurricular and intracurricular activities.

Abstract

The increasing number of child abduction cases has raised concerns among parents regarding children’s safety, particularly within school environments. Early childhood is especially vulnerable to abduction due to limited knowledge and understanding of how to recognize and respond to dangerous situations. This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of the AVOID Game as a technology-based educational medium for preventing child abduction in early childhood. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) with a simplified Borg and Gall model consisting of six stages. The participants included school principals, teachers, parents, and early childhood students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, literature reviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings revealed that the AVOID Game was considered feasible as an educational medium based on validation results from material experts (89.2%) and media experts (82.6%). Field trials indicated an improvement in children’s knowledge and understanding of abduction prevention, as reflected in the increase from a pretest score of 74.29 to a posttest score of 84.46. The study concludes that the AVOID Game is effective as an educational medium for preventing child abduction in early childhood while providing an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. The implications highlight the potential of the AVOID Game to be widely implemented as a preventive, technology-based learning strategy.

Abstract

Local culture plays an important role in shaping early childhood character, yet its implementation in kindergarten remains limited, hindering the integration of social values such as cooperation, togetherness, and cultural identity. This study aims to examine the implementation of contextual learning based on Madurese local culture in enhancing young children’s understanding of social values. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews with three informants: one kindergarten principal and two kindergarten teachers. Observations were conducted during cultural activities, such as the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW), the torch parade on the evening of 1 Muharram, and the introduction of Madurese traditional clothing, which represent the implementation of social values through local culture-based learning. The results show that local culture-based learning is effective in instilling social values such as mutual cooperation, togetherness, and pride in cultural identity. The contextual approach based on local culture in kindergarten also effectively connects learning materials to children’s daily lives, making them relevant and meaningful. Through direct experiences in cultural activities, children develop social skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. This learning approach also strengthens the relationship between children, teachers, parents, and the community, while fostering pride in local cultural identity. Overall, this approach supports holistic child development, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Abstract

Independence is an essential aspect of early childhood development that plays a significant role in fostering decision-making skills, responsibility, and the ability to complete tasks independently. However, the development of children's independence still faces several challenges, including the limited understanding of parents and teachers regarding Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT)-oriented learning, the lack of structured collaborative strategies, and ineffective communication between home and school. This study aimed to develop a parent–teacher collaboration design within a CRT-oriented learning framework to enhance the independence of children aged 4–5 years. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The participants included children aged 4–5 years, teachers, and parents. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation using children's independence assessment instruments and product validation sheets. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques through validity, practicality, and effectiveness testing. The findings revealed that the CRT-based parent–teacher collaboration guidebook met the criteria of being highly valid, practical, and effective in supporting the improvement of children's independence. The study concludes that CRT-based collaboration can serve as an effective strategy for fostering independence in early childhood. The implication of this study is the availability of a practical guide that can be utilized by teachers and parents to strengthen home–school partnerships in creating culturally responsive and child-centered learning environments.
