Abstract

It was found that students' learning outcomes and scientific attitudes were low. This study aims to analyze Cycle 5E based on the STEM approach to scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes. This research is experimental. The population is 294 students. Methods of collecting data are test and non-test. The instruments used are questionnaire sheets or questionnaires for scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes tests. The technique of analyzing the data is descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The results of the research are that there are differences in scientific attitudes between students who take part in learning using the 5E Learning Cycle based on the STEM approach and students who use the direct learning model, with a significant level of 0.026. There are differences in science learning outcomes between students who take lessons using Learning Cycle 5E based on the STEM approach and students who use direct learning models, with a significance level of less than 0.000. It was concluded that there were differences in scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes between students who participated in learning using Learning Cycle 5E based on the STEM approach and students who participated in direct learning. This research implies that the 5E learning cycle based on the STEM approach can improve scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes.

Abstract

In learning mathematics, critical thinking is needed to solve problems in various ways including interpreting, analyzing and evaluating. This study aims to analyze the critical thinking of third grade elementary school students in solving problems on the subject of fractions. The research was conducted at Elementary school by involving 26 students as the subject. This research used qualitative method. The data collection techniques used description tests and interviews. The description tests were reviewed based on four critical thinking indicators, namely interpreting, analyzing, evaluating and inference. This qualitative data processing technique is reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was carried out using a triangulation technique, namely the results of student description tests, and interviews were triangulated to obtain a description of students' critical thinking skills in solving math problems with fractions. The results showed that students with high critical thinking met the four indicators, students who had moderate critical thinking only met two indicators, and students who had low critical thinking did not meet the four indicators. In conclusion, students' critical thinking skills were low. They could not understand the problem well and had not solved it properly. Meanwhile, students who think highly critically are able to understand questions about fractions, to analyze, to choose the right method, and to conclude clearly and logically.

Abstract

The development of technological flows in the era of globalization requires teachers to take advantage of various technological advances to improve student learning outcomes. It is just that the reality on the ground shows that teachers still find it difficult to develop media related to the use of technology. This study aims to develop a learning video oriented to the value of caring for the environment in the fifth-grade science content of Elementary School. This research belongs to the type of development research using the ADDIE development model. The research subjects are two material experts, two learning design experts, and two learning media experts. The test subjects were two practitioners/teachers and ten fifth-grade students. The data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and questionnaires, with the data collection instrument as a rating scale. The analytical technique used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results showed that the assessment given by the subject content expert was 3.84 (very good), the instructional media expert was 3.83 (very good), and the learning design expert was 3.86 (very good). The results of the practitioner's response test are 3.60 (very good), and the student response is 3.76 (very good). So based on these results, it can be concluded that the value-oriented learning media for environmental care characters in the science content of the water cycle material for class V Elementary School is feasible to be developed and used in the learning process.

Abstract

Teachers only use textbooks obtained from schools. Package books are considered less helpful for students because, without teacher guidance, students cannot understand the material well. This study aims to develop an animated video learning media on plant parts and their functions in science learning for fourth grade in elementary schools. This type of research is the development of the ADDIE model. The research subjects were two material experts and two media experts. The test subjects consisted of 2 teachers and three fourth-grade elementary school students. This study uses a questionnaire (questionnaire), interviews, observation, and documentation. This study uses a rating scale instrument. In this study, two data analysis techniques were used, namely qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results from learning material experts are 93.3% (Very Valid), and teaching media experts are 88.9% (Very Valid). The results of the practicality test from the teacher are 95.5% (very feasible), and the results of the student response test are 97.2% (very possible). It was concluded that animated videos were suitable for use in learning. This research implies that teachers in learning can use videos.

Abstract

The problem today lies in the assessment quality related to the teacher's mechanism, procedure, or assessment instrument. The teacher assesses student learning activity only through observation without using the right assessment instrument. This study aimed to develop an instrument for assessing learning activity for students in the fifth-grade Civics Education subject in elementary school. This research belongs to the type of development research which was developed using the RDR model. The subjects involved in the study were two instrument experts. The method used to collect data is the non-test method in the form of expert validation sheets and questionnaires. The instrument used in collecting data is a questionnaire. The data obtained in the study were then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the coefficient of content validity of the student learning activity assessment instrument in Civics subjects was 1.00 with very high validity criteria. The results of the calculation, the reliability coefficient of the instrument for assessing student learning activities in Civics subjects is 0.93 with very high-reliability criteria. So, based on these results, it can be concluded that the learning activity assessment instrument for students in Civics Class V subjects is valid and reliable, so it is suitable for use in learning.

Abstract

Elementary school students tend to have different learning styles. Teachers can still not adjust the learning process to the student’s learning styles and have not maximally provided good learning motivation, which impacts students' low science learning outcomes. This study analyzes the significant relationship between learning styles and science learning outcomes. This research is classified into the type of correlation research, with the research population being 196 students. The study was conducted using a proportional sampling technique, with a final sample size of 149 respondents. Data collection in the study was conducted using a non-test method, with the research instrument in the form of a questionnaire on the level of learning motivation and learning style. The research instrument's validity was tested through expert tests (judges). Data analysis used descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The descriptive statistical analysis method processes descriptive, while inferential statistics data processing applies inferential statistical formulas. The first hypothesis test results show 0.609 > 0.159, so hypothesis 1 is accepted. There is a correlation between learning styles and learning outcomes in science. The results of hypothesis 2 are 0.625 > 0.159, so there is a correlation between learning motivation to students' science learning outcomes. The results of hypothesis 3 are 0.625 > 0.159, so there is a correlation between learning styles and learning motivation on science learning outcomes. Based on these results, it can be concluded that learning styles and students' motivation while studying significantly influence student learning outcomes.
