The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of teacher motivation on student learning activities in PAI subjects at SMPN 39 Surabaya. In this study, the authors conduct quantitative research which is a knowledge discovery process that uses data in the form of numbers as a tool to find information about what we want to know. Based on the research problem formulation and the existing data analysis process, the following conclusions can be drawn: All teachers at SMPN 39 Surabaya have a high enough effort to motivate their students, including in the fairly high category. This can be seen from the creativity, activity, and absorption of student learning outcomes which are quite high. The relationship of motivation given by the teacher to student learning activities at SMPN 39 Surabaya is very influential with a fairly good interpretation, this is evident from the results of Statistical Analysis Table 22 which shows that the calculated Chi SChi-Square = 28.36 is greater than the Chi-Square table obtained Fo > Ft 5% (5.99) means the significance (Ho is rejected) and in the interpretation table the Contingency Coefficient value is 0.664 so it is in the range of numbers between 0.600 to 0.800 with a fairly high (good) interpretation which indicates a fairly good relationship between the motivation given by the teacher and student learning activities at SMPN 39 Surabaya in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Assessment plays an important role in the educational process so there is a need for standardization of student education assessments. Permendikbud Number 23 of 2016 is an effort from the government to provide standards in the assessment of learning outcomes both carried out by the Education Unit and the Government. In the Permendikbud it is stated that the assessment of student learning outcomes includes three aspects, namely cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The assessment of these three aspects in the 2013 curriculum is called authentic assessment. In practice, not all IRE (Islamic Religious Education) teachers apply authentic assessment. This study aims to elaborate on how IRE Elementary School teachers in Bantul District develop authentic assessments. This research is field research with a qualitative approach. The results of this study are the development of Authentic assessment conducted by IRE teachers in the Bantul sub-district consists of several development steps, namely first, observing or mapping KD (Basic competencies) and indicators to be tested. Second, determine the type of assessment that is tailored to the aspects to be tested. Third, compile an assessment that will be tested. Fourth, compose an answer key. Fifth, develop scoring guidelines. The recommendation from the results of this study is that in developing authentic assessments there should be simplifications related to testing trials in search of validity and reliability. This is because, at the level of implementation, this step is difficult for IRE teachers to implement.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the perceptions and experiences of undergraduate students in using strategies for reading texts during the Covid-19 pandemic. Researchers chose to use qualitative research in this study with a case study approach. The participants involved were 14 undergraduate students at the State Islamic University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, Banten, West Java, Indonesia where participants were selected using the snowball sampling method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews which were then transcribed in which the names of participants were written pseudonymously. The collected data is then analyzed by the thematic analysis method. This study found that reading activities during the pandemic have their challenges and advantages and students have started to tend to get used to reading texts on a screen rather than reading in printout form, although some of them still prefer to read in printout form. The five main strategies in reading texts that are commonly used by students during the Covid-19 pandemic are memory association, retelling, previewing, identifying the main idea, and habituation. Researchers conclude that the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have forced undergraduate students to get used to reading texts in on-screen form and reading strategies are still varied. Therefore, this research implies that the teaching and learning process should accommodate many strategies in reading texts based on proficiency in English and not dominate just one strategy.

This paper discussed efforts to improve English learning skills using social networking. The author believes that most students now learning English as a foreign language certainly need more opportunities to practice excellently to relax their learning. However, progress in learning English is often identified with fluency in communicating with fellow students, not in terms of fluency in speaking using various social media applications so that such an atmosphere presents an open feel for students in the form of not only communicating in friendship but still looking for robust learning solutions. This review tries to describe how the benefits of social networks are not only valuable as friendships but can improve English proficiency for students in Indonesia. The data that we found was then analyzed from various sources and perspectives, which were the results of secondary data in book publications, scientific papers, and websites that discussed foreign language learning issues using social media networks. Based on the study results and discussion, we conclude that foreign language learning is like a social network. The reason is that through social media, there are now many types of social media that can be used to learn English in an effective and relaxed manner, all of which provide a variety of features and content that make learning more polite but still helpful.
