Abstract

The  Javanese Trans migrants have come to Gorontalo district since 1953. The language used by the Trans migrants continued to be used in the place so that it becomes bilingual and even multilingual community giving rise to new phenomena. The aim of this study Is to identify pattern of language usage in family, market, school, mosque, and the office; and variation of language choice. The research methodology used comprised observation method including basic recording technique, interview methodology elevation basic technique, survey method by distributing questionnaires, triangulation techniques, and sociolinguistic approach. The sample is determined by snowball and purposive sampling. Data analyzed using SPEAKING through percentage calculation. The result show that The Javanese trans migrants to Gorontalo District is dominant of lndonesian language use in the office, mosque, and school; Javanese in family and market; Malay language in school, and market; and three types of language variations, single language variation, code switching, and mixing.  Single language variation involves Javanese and Indonesian. Code switching is divided into four variations and mixing code is split in two variations.  So that, the use of trans migrants language in Gorontalo is dominant in Indonesian and Javanese pattern simultaneously.

Abstract

This present study is devoted to investigating the language phenomenon focusing on spoken communication during the classroom learning at MAN Model State Islamic Senior High School, Gorontalo. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the data of this study encompassed the utterances of the teacher and students during the classroom learning, specifically in UN (national examination) subjects. The data were generated by a conversation method with its basic techniques, i.e., recording, and note-taking. Furthermore, the data were qualitatively analyzed by (1) transcribing the recording into a written discourse, (2) grouping the data according to the problem statement, (3) examining the data, and (4) summing up. This study successfully identifies four strategies used during the communication process in a classroom learning; the strategies are (1) bald on record, (2) positive politeness, (3) negative politeness, and (4) off record.

Abstract

The Village Project Program –Independent Campus aims to empower libraries by implementing the national reading movement. This program is implemented through education and training, mentoring, service, and guidance, which are expected to be sustainable through the awareness of related parties, especially the government and regional libraries. These parties are expected to pay attention to village library facilities and infrastructure that can realize the national reading movement program.Besides, to support the national reading movement, the program is also directed at forming literacy communities, literacy lodges, and reading parks in Bone Bolango.The Freedom to Learn - Independent Campus Community Service Program with the theme "Empowerment of Village Libraries through the Implementation of the National Reading Movement" is implemented by prioritizing the principle of empowering local communities with the primary objective of program sustainability and public awareness of the importance of literacy. Therefore, after the Freedomto Learn – Independent Campus Community Service Program is completed, the community, especially the Youth Organization, can continue the program that has been run independently through the Subdistrict Literacy Community forum.Villages need to empower their assets both in terms of human resources and management of the sources of funds used. The focus of empowerment is to improve the community's quality in the literacy skills sector and a better institutional administration system in encouraging the development of reading culture programs.Reading culture in the village can make people have the ability to read from the start and encourage them to love reading. It is recommended for students who take part in Community Service Program in the following years to further improve communication with the community in order to make it easier to run the programs implemented in Tinelo, Bubeya, and Boludawa village

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan kalimat interjeksi, dan makna penggunaan kalimat interjeksi dalam novel Kelana Cinta Shafiyya karya Fitria Pratiwi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan stilistika, metode penelitian deskriptif dan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Data pada penelitian ini berupa penggunaan kalimat interjeksi. Sumber data adalah kutipan cerita dan kalimat dalam novel Kelana Cinta Shafiyya karya Fitria Pratiwi. Data tersebut dikumpulkan dengan cara membaca intensif, melakukan pengkodean, dan pencatatan. Teknik analisis data yaitu mengidentifikasi penggunaan kalimat interjeksi, mengklasifikasi penggunaan kalimat interjeksi, menganalisis makna dari penggunaan kalimat interjeksi, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) penggunaan kalimat interjeksi yang terdapat dalam novel Kelana Cinta Shafiyya ada sepuluh jenis yaitu interjeksi ajakan, simpulan, kekesalan atau kemarahan, keheranan, panggilan, sapaan, kekagetan, kesyukuran, kejijikan, dan kekaguman. (2) makna penggunaan kalimat interjeksi terdiri atas makna ajakan, simpulan, kekesalan atau kemarahan, keheranan, panggilan, sapaan, kekagetan, kesyukuran, kejijikan, dan kekaguman. Simpulannya bahwa kalimat interjeksi yang digunakan dalam novel Kelana Cinta Shafiyya karya Fitria Pratiwi terdiri atas sepuluh jenis interjeksi dan memiliki sepuluh makna.

Abstract

Bahasa Bajo adalah satu di antara bahasa daerah yang ada di Provinsi Gorontalo khususnya yang terdapat di Desa Bajo Kec. Tilamuta  Kab. Boalemo. Umum mata pencaharian Suku Bajo adalah nelayan tradisional. Suku  Bajo  pun  mulai  memiliki  mata  pencaharian  bukan  hanya  sebagai  nelayan, banyak  di  antara  mereka  yang  profesi  seperti  guru, pedagang,  petugas  kesehatan,  pegawai pemerintahan,  dan  lain  lain.  Dengan beragam profesi ini, berdampak pada penggunaan beragam bahasa pada masyarakat suku Bajo, namun penutur bahasa Bajo tetap memperlihatkan sikap positif sebagai upaya dalam pemertahanan bahasa Bajo. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan penelitian pemertahanan bahasa Bajo di Kabupaten Boalemo. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pemertahanan bahasa Bajo melalui sikap bahasa penutur bahasa Bajo di Desa Bajo Kec. Tilamuta Kab. Boalemo Provinsi Gorontalo. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik angket dan wawancara. Data hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari angket dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terkait penggunaan bahasa oleh masyarakat di desa Bajo, ditemukan bahwa masyarakat setempat lebih dominan menggunakan bahasa Bajo, hal ini karena masyarakat di desa Bajo tersebut mayoritas berlatar belakang suku Bajo, dibandingkan dengan suku Gorontalo atau suku lainya yang sangat minoritas di desa tersebut, sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa bahasa yang lebih dominan digunakan oleh masyarakat di desa tersebut adalah bahasa Bajo (bahasa mayoritas). Penggunaan bahasa Bajo ditunjukkan melalu sikap masyarakat di Desa Bajo masih memiliki sikap positif. Hal ini ditandai oleh sejumlah ciri-ciri dari sikap bahasa, antara lain pemilihan, penggunaan dan pemertahanan bahasa. Selain itu, bahasa Bajo ini sangat mendominasi sehingga mengakibatkan adanya pergeseran bahasa daerah lainnya. Adanya pergeseran bahasa daerah lainnya mengindikasi pada adanya pemertahanan bahasa Bajo di Desa Bajo, Kecamatan Tilamuta, Kabupaten Boalemo

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the growth mindset model in improving children's story writing. Writing children's stories is part of the learning process to develop literary skills with mastery of language. This type of research is development research, qualitative descriptive method. The method of data collection was carried out by interviewing, documenting, and compiling products to be tested on students and teachers. The research subject is at one school, namely SDIT in Gorontalo City. The results show that writing stories using the growth mindset model can increase students' writing of children's stories. The interest of students in writing is because the guide model includes various types of exercises in creating ideas through positive stories, writing creatively and revealing the wisdom of stories, so that they can retell the contents of the story. AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan model growth mindset dalam meningkatkan menulis cerita anak. Menulis cerita anak adalah bagian dari proses pembelajaran untuk mengembangkan kemampuan bersastra dengan penguasaan bahasa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan, metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, dokumentasi, dan penyusunan produk untuk diujicobakan pada peserta didik dan guru.  Subjek penelitian pada satu sekolah yaitu SDIT di Kota Gorontalo.  Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa  menulis cerita dengan menggunakan model growth mindset dapat meningkatkan peserta didik menulis cerita anak. Ketertarikan peserta didik dalam menulis dikarenakan model panduannya mencantumkan beragam jenis latihan dalam menciptakan ide melalui kisah positif, menulis kreatif dan mengungkapkan  hikmah cerita, sehingga dapat  menceritakan kembali  isi cerita.

Abstract

This paper discussed efforts to improve English learning skills using social networking. The author believes that most students now learning English as a foreign language certainly need more opportunities to practice excellently to relax their learning. However, progress in learning English is often identified with fluency in communicating with fellow students, not in terms of fluency in speaking using various social media applications so that such an atmosphere presents an open feel for students in the form of not only communicating in friendship but still looking for robust learning solutions. This review tries to describe how the benefits of social networks are not only valuable as friendships but can improve English proficiency for students in Indonesia. The data that we found was then analyzed from various sources and perspectives, which were the results of secondary data in book publications, scientific papers, and websites that discussed foreign language learning issues using social media networks. Based on the study results and discussion, we conclude that foreign language learning is like a social network. The reason is that through social media, there are now many types of social media that can be used to learn English in an effective and relaxed manner, all of which provide a variety of features and content that make learning more polite but still helpful.

Abstract

This study concerns the following notions: (1) language variations, (2) language patterns, (3) language shifts, and; (4) the factors to Gorontalo language shifts in the social aspect, while this study aimed to identify and describe said concerns. The findings revealed as follows: (1) the language variations used by the communities consist of variations based on the speaker, which are vulgar dan basilect, while the variations based on the formality were intimate and casual, (2 the dominant patterns used by the Gorontalo communities are BMM+BI, BMM+BG, BG+BI+BMM, BMM+BI+BS, (3) the language shift did not entirely occur within Gorontalo communities communications, (4) the factors to the shift are: situations, education, economy, and immigration. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan variasi bahasa, pola penggunaan bahasa, pergeseran bahasa Gorontalo dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pergeseran bahasa Gorontao dalam ranah sosial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) variasi bahasa yang digunakan oleh masyarakat Gorontalo ada dua yaitu variasi bahasa yang dilihat dari segi penutur yaitu vulgar dan basilek dan variasi hahasa yang dilihat dari segi keformalan yaitu ragam intim dan ragam santai, (2) pola penggunaan yang dominan digunakan oleh masyarakat Gorontalo ada empat yaitu: BMM+BI, BMM+BG, BG+BI+BMM, BMM+BI+BS, (3) Pergeseran bahasa Gorontalo terjadi secara tidak keseluruhan dalam komunikasi masyarakat Gorontalo, (4) faktor yang mempengaruhi pergeseran bahasa yaitu situasi, pendidikan, ekonomi dan imigrasi.

Abstract

The problem that occurs in Bongo Village is the presence of outside culture that enters so that it affects the attitude of religiosity and activities in the village. This is because of the tourism potential that impacts the entry of foreign tourists so that it can have an impact on the local community. This problem is actually an opportunity to introduce local traditions to foreign tourists by re-activating youth organizations to carry out cultural-based creative activities in attracting tourists so that it helps in improving the economy in Bongo village. In responding to these problems, it is necessary to develop the potential of Bongo Village as a Religious Tourism Village. One of the potentials that can be developed is the cultural potential inherent in the village from generation to generation, both daily activities, arts, culinary, livelihoods, crafts and others. This can be the basis for forming a concept of rural tourism based on the culture of the area, which of course can be an attraction for tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, through the Village Thematic Community Service Program, the Lecturer at the State University of Gorontalo offered a collaboration with a partner, namely Bongo Village, Batudaa Beach District, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province. Empowerment activities are in the form of structuring tourist facilities, socializing the strengthening of local community religious traditions, and planning Bongo Village to become a Religious Tourism Village with the concept of Halal Tourism. In line with the problems found, the expected outcomes of this activity are (1) increased public awareness in maintaining religious traditions (2) the availability of tourism facilities based on local culture, (3) the creation of an orderly, mutual cooperation, and community life. willing to sacrifice for the achievement of the SDGs targets. (4) the realization of the involvement of the provincial government, especially village officials in paying attention to the facilities and availability of facilities in the development of religious tourism villages

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan bahasa Gorontalo dalam berbagai ranah, faktor-faktor penyebab penggunaan bahasa Gorontalo, dan solusi pemecahan terhadap faktor-faktor penyebab penggunaan bahasa Gorontalo pada kalangan generasi muda di daerah pesisir desa Ponelo kecamatan Ponelo Kepulauan kabupaten Gorontalo Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yakni teknik simak, teknik catat, teknik angket, dan teknik cakap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) penggunaan bahasa Gorontalo pada kalangan generasi muda berdasarkan hasil temuan melalui metode simak, BG lebih dominan digunakan pada ranah keakraban. Sedangkan hasil temuan melalui metode angket, generasi muda lebih dominan menggunakan BI (36.3344%) dan BC (31.2287%); (2) faktor-faktor penyebab penggunaan bahasa Gorontalo pada kalangan generasi muda yaitu kurangnya peran orang tua mengajarkan bahasa Gorontalo, faktor kebiasaan, lingkungan pergaulan, dan pengaruh perkembangan zaman; (3) solusi pemecahan terhadap faktor penyebab penggunaan bahasa Gorontalo di kalangan generasi muda desa Ponelo yakni melalui peran orang tua di lingkungan keluarga, peran pemerintah, peran lembaga pendidikan, dan peran generasi muda itu sendiri. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kalangan generasi muda di daerah pesisir desa Ponelo Kecamatan Ponelo Kepulauan Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara sudah jarang menggunakan bahasa Gorontalo ketika melakukan percakapan dengan lawan bicaranya.
