Abstract

The widespread use of smartphones has raised concerns about their influence on students’ spiritual and moral development. This study aims to analyze the relationship between smartphone use and students’ spiritual attitudes and moral perspectives. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study involved 118 students selected as respondents. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire designed to measure the intensity of smartphone use, spiritual attitudes, and moral perspectives. Data analysis was carried out using statistical techniques with Excel software. The findings revealed that smartphone use had no significant effect on students’ spiritual attitudes (p > 0.05). In contrast, the analysis of moral perspectives indicated a measurable effect, yet it remained neutral, showing neither a clear positive nor negative correlation. The study concludes that religious and moral education plays a more dominant role in shaping students’ spiritual and moral dimensions compared to smartphone use. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening spiritual and moral education programs and promoting the meaningful use of technology as a strategy to support the ethical and spiritual growth of students.

Abstract

The limitation of teaching materials in character development based on Islamic values for inmates has resulted in religious learning that does not fully address the moral, spiritual, and emotional aspects essential for rehabilitation. This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of an Islamic Education based textbook to strengthen the Islamic character formation of inmates. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, using the Borg & Gall model as the development framework and the Dick & Carey model for systematic instructional design. The development process included preliminary study, planning, initial product development, limited trials, and product refinement. Validation instruments were applied to assess content, language, and visual design, while data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean scores) and qualitative data reduction from observations and interviews. Validation results showed high average scores from material experts (3.52), instructional design experts (3.56), and language experts (3.66), indicating the product’s feasibility. Limited trials yielded a practicality score of 3.46, suggesting that the textbook is user-friendly and relevant to the needs of rehabilitation. The developed material encompassed eight main themes repentance, self-control, self-reflection (muhasabah), and spiritual relationship proven to reinforce inmates’ Islamic character. The findings confirm that textbooks based on religious values can serve as both educational and reflective media in inmate development and are recommended for replication in similar contexts to strengthen character-based education practices.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia evolve along with the development of society, technology, and knowledge. However, learning practices are still largely dominated by conventional lecture-based models. This study analyze the strengthening of students’ critical thinking skills through the implementation of the Socratic seminar learning model. The research employed a case study with a qualitative approach. The subjects were Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) teachers and eleventh-grade students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation using instruments such as interview guidelines, observation sheets, and document checklists. Data analysis included condensation, display, and verification. The results show that the implementation of the Socratic seminar effectively strengthened students’ critical thinking skills through several aspects: (a) developing indicators and problems suited to students’ abilities, (b) encouraging students to answer teachers’ questions by expanding their responses based on the material studied, (c) utilizing printed and electronic media as learning resources, and (d) enabling students to explore material independently according to their own understanding. The conclusion emphasizes that the Socratic seminar model not only trains students to enhance critical thinking skills but also encourages teachers to act as innovators, role models, and evaluators in strengthening students’ critical thinking in PPKn learning. This research provides guidance for teachers, particularly PPKn teachers, in selecting learning models that align with student characteristics, thereby creating more effective, contextual, and critical thinking-oriented learning.

Abstract

Balinese Language learning in formal schools still faces serious challenges, particularly in terms of low student engagement and the suboptimal use of local literature as a teaching medium. One proposed solution is the development of an educational-spiritual learning model based on Geguritan Sucita Subudi, which is rich in moral and spiritual values. This study aims to analyze the educational-spiritual learning model based on Geguritan Sucita Subudi. The research adopts a qualitative approach using the Research and Development (R&D) method by Borg & Gall, which includes stages such as field study, model design, expert validation, limited implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique employed qualitative analysis with data triangulation. The findings show that this model enhances students’ understanding of the content of geguritan, fosters affective and spiritual engagement, and strengthens character education rooted in local culture. The implementation of this model also demonstrates a positive impact on preserving the values of Balinese literature within the context of formal education. The implications of this study make a significant contribution to strategies for strengthening a curriculum based on local wisdom and support the implementation of the Freedom to Learn (Merdeka Belajar) policy and the Pancasila Student Profile in a contextual and meaningful way.
