Abstract

In geography instruction, classroom practices remain largely dominated by conventional, teacher-centered approaches, which limit students’ opportunities to develop analytical, evaluative, and contextual reasoning related to geosphere phenomena. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ spatial thinking skills in geography education. The study employed an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design involving two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The research sample consisted of 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using written essay-based test instruments administered as pre-tests and post-tests, designed to measure analytical ability, spatial reasoning, and spatially oriented problem-solving skills. Quantitative data analysis included tests of normality and homogeneity, hypothesis testing, correlation analysis, coefficient of determination, and n-gain analysis to assess the level of improvement and the effectiveness of the instructional model across both groups. The results indicate that the implementation of the PBL model significantly enhances, strengthens, and optimizes students’ spatial thinking skills compared to conventional instruction. Thus, PBL is proven to be more effective in fostering higher-order thinking skills among students. The findings suggest that PBL holds strategic potential for broader implementation and further development in secondary school geography instruction to strengthen spatial thinking as a key 21st-century competency.

Abstract

Language skills are a crucial aspect of development, especially expressive language. Expressive language helps young children convey their thoughts, feelings, and needs using simple words or symbols. Children who do not have good expressive language development will experience difficulties in expressing emotions, socializing, and academic decline at school. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) in improving expressive language skills in young children. The research method is an experimental single-subject research (A-B-A) approach with early childhood subjects experiencing expressive language problems. The assessments used were the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales (VABS), intelligence tests, observations, and interviews. The intervention used was the PECS. The study found changes in expressive language skills among the research subjects, as indicated by VABS scores and observations at school and home. Observable changes in expressive language skills include an increased vocabulary, more active and structured use of Indonesian, and the ability to answer questions without repeating themselves. In addition, the subjects began to show initiative in social interactions with friends and teachers.

Abstract

The professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers plays a crucial role in shaping students' religious character and creating a school environment grounded in religious values. In today's modern era, the challenges facing PAI teachers are increasingly complex, driven by technological advancements, globalization, and the declining morality of some students influenced by foreign cultures that are inconsistent with Islamic values. This situation demands that PAI teachers act not only as instructors delivering learning materials, but also as moral and spiritual role models capable of instilling Islamic values in every aspect of school life. This study aims to analyze how the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers is implemented in building a religious school environment and to identify its impact on student character development. The research problem stems from the weak integration of Islamic values within elementary school culture. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, conducted at SDIT.. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, principals, and students who were selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of religious activities. The results show that the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, reflected in their commitment, discipline, and role model, play a significant role in internalizing Islamic values through their activities.neatQuran recitation, congregational prayer, and Friday almsgiving. These activities have been shown to improve students' discipline, empathy, and social responsibility. Abstract

Children’s rights are a fundamental part of human rights that must be protected, fulfilled, and guaranteed from an early age. However, violations of children’s rights continue to increase despite the implementation of various protection policies and programs. One possible solution is to enhance the awareness and understanding of families, particularly parents and children, regarding the importance of children’s rights. This study aims to analyze a collaborative digital storytelling game called Kolak (Collaboration between Children and Families) as an educational medium to introduce children's rights while encouraging active involvement of parents and children. The research applied a research and development (R&D) approach called as SAM model. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires for both preliminary studies and expert judgement, while the analysis technique used was quantitative descriptive analysis. Findings indicate that more than 80% of parent respondents acknowledge the importance of fulfilling children’s rights, yet there is still a lack of media that accommodates parent–child collaboration. This research has implications for the need to integrate digital learning media such as the Kolak game in early childhood education to instill an understanding of children's rights in an interesting, contextual, and developmentally appropriate manner.

Abstract

Research on creative reasoning in mathematical problem-solving continues to grow significantly, as evidenced by global trends and the large number of publications identified through bibliometric analysis and the PRISMA systematic review. This study aims to analyze the trends in further research on creative reasoning and to examine aspects of creative reasoning used in mathematical problem-solving. This study employed a library research design using both bibliometric and descriptive approaches. Scientific publications related to creative reasoning served as the data sources. Data were collected through database searches using the string "creative reasoning", resulting in 1769 documents for bibliometric analysis, and 22 articles selected using the PRISMA guidelines as a systematic review instrument. Data analysis methods included bibliometric analysis to identify global trends and descriptive analysis of selected articles through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. The results indicate that creative reasoning research is a current research trend in various countries and provide information on sources and documents that need to be studied as a basis for creative reasoning in mathematical problem-solving. Furthermore, the creative reasoning aspect of problem-solving is more focused on three components: novelty, plausibility, and mathematical foundation, also known as anchoring. It is concluded that these three aspects can form a more systematic theoretical framework for creative reasoning, with implications for the development of models, operational indicators, and assessment instruments for students' creative reasoning that are more specific, valid, and contextual.
