Abstract

Individuals who have self-compassion tend to have more positive thoughts regarding traumatic experiences, which in turn will relate to better emotional outcomes. The struggles of individuals with great challenges in the life crisis will result in a positive change experience called posttraumatic growth (PTG). The study aims to see the relationship between self-compassion and posttraumatic growth in adolescence who have been fatherless (because of death) and living in the orphanage. The study participants were 100 adolescences (57 males and 43 females) aged 12-15 years. The selfcompassion variable is measured by Self-Compassion Scale (Neff, 2003), whereas posttraumatic growth variables are measured by the Post Traumatic Growth Inventory (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996) through the adaptation process. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between self-compassion and posttraumatic growth in adolescence that stayed in the orphanage (R = 0.252, p <0.01). In this research, the self-compassion aspect that the most impact for posttraumatic growth is self kindness (r = 0,351, p < 0.001) and common humanity (r = 0,303, p < 0.001).

Abstract

Work engagement is an important aspect, especially for employees who have a job with a high level of risk, to minimize the impact of risks and maximize their performance. Therefore, this research investigated the role of proactive personality and resilience in work engagement. The method was a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population in this study were firefighters and rescue personnel in Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was saturation sampling with a sample size of 167 individuals. Data were collected using the Modified UWES by Aulia et al. (2019), the Modified PPS by the author, and the Resilience Scale by Aulia et al. (2022). The analytical technique used was multiple linear regression. The study's results indicate that proactive personality and resilience played a highly significant role in work engagement. A proactive personality significantly and positively influences work engagement, as does resilience. Both proactive personality and resilience contributed effectively to work engagement by 61.2%, whereas the remaining 38.8% was determined by other factors not discussed in this study. This finding can be used by organizations and companies to understand their employees related to work attachment to increase human resources within the scope of work.

Abstract

The development of information technology, especially the internet, has many positive impacts, but of the many positive impacts, there are several negative impacts, one of which is cyberbullying. Teenagers are the most active social media users in Indonesia and are prone to cyberbullying behavior. There are several factors that cause adolescents to commit cyberbullying, including empathy and the ability to regulate emotions. This study aims to look at the influence of empathy and emotion regulation on adolescent cyberbullying behavior. The subjects in this study amounted to 137 adolescents with characteristics aged 18-25 years, actively using social media, having committed acts of cyberbullying in the last 6 months (such as writing comments using harsh and angry words to others, uploading photos or videos of other people's disgrace (embarrassing) without permission, ostracizing someone in online group activities, and the like). Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires via google form. The data analysis technique uses multiple regression. The results revealed that there was an effect of empathy and emotion regulation together on cyberbullying behavior by 7.2% with a sig. value 0,007. Separately, empathy has a negative influence of 27% with a sig. value 0.002 on cyberbullying behavior while emotional regulation has no effect on cyberbullying behavior with a sig. value 0.526. Therefore, it is important to conduct empathy training so that adolescents can increase their empathy to prevent cyberbullying.

Abstract

Being a disabled person with a career is not easy in living a daily life in the world of work. In the work environment, people with disabilities often experience social inequality. The problems faced make it difficult for people with disabilities to achieve subjective well-being in a career due to poor self-acceptance factors. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-acceptance and subjective well-being in people with disabilities who have a career. The research method used was quantitative with a correlational design. 127 career-disabled people were used as participants in the study using a purposive sampling technique. Research data collection for self-acceptance variables using the Berger Self Acceptance Scale (BSAS) and subjective well-being variables using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and Positive Affect Negative Affect Scale (PANAS). The results of data analysis from the Pearson Correlation value of 0.053 and sig. = 0.283 (p > 0.05) showed that the research hypothesis was rejected, meaning there was no significant relationship with self-acceptance. This indicates that self-acceptance is not one of the factors associated with subjective well-being in people with disabilities who have a career.

Abstract

The prevalence of smoking which continues to increase into a problem that to this day has not found a concrete solution certainly requires various tactical and dynamic measures, one of which is through therapeutic mindfulness. This research aims to test the effectiveness of mindfulness therapy against smoking cessation in various groups such as adult men, adolescents, and women. This study used a meta-analysis method that used 12 experimental journals on mindfulness therapy and smoking cessation on an international scale published in English, with a total of 1,017 project participants consisting of 498 experimental subjects and 519 control subjects. Result analysis showed an I2 number of 95.29% which was categorized as random effects due to the heterogeneity of the respondent population in the research that became the references. Hedges analysis g is -0.17 which means mindfulness therapy has little effect on the effectiveness of smoking cessation. Results of the analysis also obtained a signification score of egger's regression at 0.895 which is greater than 0.001 (0.001 < 0.895) which concluded no indication of publication bias. The results of this study concluded that mindfulness therapy had a small effect on smoking cessation. This finding is based on smoking cessation status which is more nicotine addiction and not something that can be assessed cognitively, so additional treatment is needed to make the impact significant. Abstract

Teachers' beliefs about emotions can provide an overview of how teachers support the development of emotional competence in early childhood. This study aimed to investigate preschool teachers’ beliefs about emotional competence and emotion socialization. A sample of 194 preschool teachers from 22 Kindergartens completed the Teachers' Emotion Beliefs Scale (TEBS) and open questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and thematic analysis. The research results showed that 67% of teachers had developmentally appropriate beliefs, while 33% of teachers had beliefs that were not appropriate to children's emotional development. The developmentally appropriate belief explains the importance of the teacher's role in facilitating children's emotional competence. On the other hand, unappropriateness is explained by teachers' beliefs regarding children's expressions of negative emotions (such as sadness and anger), which according to teachers, young children do not need to express these emotions for certain reasons. Furthermore, the results of the open-ended questionnaire showed several teacher limitations regarding conceptual understanding of children's emotional competence, as well as in using appropriate strategies for emotional socialization (especially in helping children manage negative emotions). The way teachers socialize emotions is based on their beliefs regarding children's emotional competence.

Abstract

In today's dynamic work environment, the rise of flexible working arrangements and psychological empowerment has sparked a keen fascination with exploring how these new approaches drive employee innovation. This study examines the role of psychological empowerment in mediating the relationship between flexible work arrangements and innovative work behavior. A quantitative approach was used with a cross-functional method. A total of 255 employees in Indonesia took part in the research by filling in instruments via Google Forms. The convenience sampling technique was implemented in this study, focusing on those with at least one year of experience in organizations with hybrid or flexible work designs. Data were analysed using SMART PLS 4.0. The results showed that psychological empowerment fully mediated the relationship between flexible work arrangements and innovative work behavior. These findings suggest that organizations should focus on designing flexible work arrangements that encourage psychological empowerment in individuals, which may ultimately lead to increased innovative work behavior.

Abstract

Fatherlessness is a phenomenon that can have various negative impacts on children's development into adulthood. The absence of a father's role, especially for women, means that individuals do not have appropriate role models in enforcing discipline and implementing principles. This can become problematic behavior and has the potential to lead to crime. This research aims to explore the image of fatherlessness among female prisoners. This research uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach involving several women who are prisoners at the class IIA Palembang Penitentiary. Semi-structured in-depth interview methods, unstructured observation, and member checking. Data obtained from the field will be analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) techniques. The results of this research found main themes: lack of affection, longing for a father figure and hope for family unity.
