Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku, with registered number ISSN 2581 0421 (online, is published by Department of Psychology Universitas Andalas. Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku publishes original articles on new knowledge and research or research application with current issues in Indonesian Psychology. All submitted manuscripts will be subjected to the peer review process following a thorough inspection by the editors. Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku publishes 5 -7 articles in each edition with 10 - 18 pages long for each article. One volume of Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku divided into two editions, which are published in the 1st and 2nd semester each year. Articles are written in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) OR English. Abstracts must be in English. Publication in this journal is free of charge and all published papers are available online through open access.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the contribution of the orphanage climate and self-concept to motivation in orphanage youth Muhammadiyah Purworejo to continue their studies to collage. Research respondent totaled 81 people selected using cluster random sampling. The scale used for data collection include the Motivation Scale for Continuing Studies in University (α=0,930), the Orphanage Climate Scale (α = 0.862), and the Self-Concept Scale (α=0,870). The results of the regression analysis showed that there was a strong contribution between the climate of the orphanage and self-concept to the motivation in orphanage youth Muhammadiyah Purworejo to continue studying at university (Fcount>Ftable, namely 53,151>3,11; p<0,05; R=0,759). In addition, the pearson correlation test of the second and third hypotheses of this study proved to show a strong enough significant correlation between the climate of the orphanage and the motivation in orphanage youth Muhammadiyah Purworejo to continue their studies to collage (p<0,05, r=0,423) and there was a strong significant correlation between self-concept and motivation in orphanage youth Muhammadiyah Purworejo to continue study in higher education (p<0.05; r=0,756). The effective contribution of the orphanage climate and self-concept to the motivation in orphanage youth Muhammadiyah Purworejo to continue their studies to college is 57,7%.

Abstract

Technological advances bring transformation in employment, such as the shift of work towards digitalization. The covid-19 pandemic has also encouraged increasing technology use at work. The impact of this phenomenon is reducing the need for human resources, which increases competition in the world of work. Generation Z is a generation that currently and will face this change where they are required to have more skills so they able to compete to get and maintain their jobs.. Self-perceived employability measures individual perceptions of their ability to get and keep jobs later. This study aims to get an overview of the level of self-perceived employability in Generation Z in Indonesia by involving 1157 college students in their third and fourth years. The data was collected from 23 provinces spread across western, central, and eastern Indonesia using the online platform. The results showed that most Generation Z in Indonesia have high (67%) and moderate levels of self-perceived employability (32%). In addition, it was also found that some factors can impact increasing students' views of their employability skills. The factors are being active in organizations on campus and off campus (freelance, entrepreneurship), English proficiency (active and passive), and the Career Center in Higher Education. Abstract

Abstract. The growing economic sector and people’s living standards growth have caused the number of domestic solid waste in urban areas to increase. The paper aims to analyze correlation between perceived behavioral control and intention to sort waste towards waste sorting behavior at work by applying Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) from Icek Ajzen. This study uses a quantitative approach towards 251 respondents using likert scale (1 – 4) as the instrument. The measuring instrument are Pearson Product Moment and Multiple Correlation. The results of this study indicate that (1) there is a correlation between perceived behavioral control and waste sorting behavior (0.371); (2) there is a correlation between intention to sort waste and waste sorting behavior (0.313); (3) there is a strong correlation between perceived behavioral control and intention to sort waste (0.802); (4) correlation between perceived behavioral control and intention towards waste sorting behavior shows R2 = 0.372. Company’s intervention through the provision of appropriate types of trash bins with close proximity to the employee's position at work is needed to improve waste sorting behavior. Abstract

Primiparous, mothers who have just had their first child experience many physical, biological ,and physiological changes, coupled with new challenges and lack of experience in parenting, make mothers tend to experience stress levels, so self-esteem is needed to optimize child care and development. One of the factors that affect self-esteem is social support, but the limited previous research related to this, this research aims to see the effect of social support on the self-esteem of primiparous mothers. A total of 250 primiparous mothers were recruited using a purposive sampling technique to fill out the self-esteem and social support scale. The results of the regression analysis showed that social support had a significant effect on self-esteem. Social support contributes 66% to the self-esteem of primiparous mothers. The most influential social support on the self-esteem of primiparous mothers is the husband's support of 35.4%. This indicates that social support, especially husband's support, is an important thing that must be considered to increase the self-esteem of primiparous mothers in adjusting to their new role as mothers. Primiparous mothers who have high self-esteem will be satisfied with their character. The existence of a positive appreciation will provide a sense of security in adjusting and reacting to stimuli from the environment

Abstract

Salah satu faktor penting untuk mengoptimalkan pendidikan Siswa Berkebutuhan Khusus (SBK) dalam sistem pendidikan adalah guru. Namun, seringkali dijumpai praktik penanganan di kelas yang belum sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa dan kebijakan yang berlaku. Penelitian terdahulu sering membahas sikap guru terhadap SBK sebagai faktor yang belum tepat terhadap penanganan SBK terutama di sekolah inklusi. Sikap dapat diprediksi oleh berbagai variabel, namun pengetahuan mengenai disabilitas dalam konteks inklusif merupakan hal yang cukup penting. Penelitian mixed method dengan pendekatan explanatory sequential ini dilakukan secara khusus kepada 22 guru di SD Inklusi X, Jakarta, dengan menggunakan teknik analisis regresi linier. Variabel pengetahuan mengenai disabilitas secara statistik dapat memprediksi sikap guru dalam menangani SBK di kelas (=.315; p= .007). Sebanyak 40,9% guru memiliki pengetahuan mengenai disabilitas pada kategori rendah, 40,9% guru berkategori sedang, dan 18,2% lainnya berkategori tinggi. Sementara terkait sikap guru dalam menangani SBK di kelas, 59,1% berkategori netral dan 40,9% berkategori positif. Tidak ada perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan mengenai disabilitas dan sikap guru dalam menangani SBK di kelas berdasarkan kelompok yang dibagi menurut data demografi. Ditemukan adanya perbedaan pada data kualitatif melalui wawancara perwakilan guru. Disarankan agar pihak sekolah memfasilitasi guru untuk mengikuti pelatihan terkait pengetahuan mengenai disabilitas dalam konteks inklusif. Abstract

Death anxiety is an unpleasant emotional state that a person experiences when thinking about death. Anxiety can have a detrimental impact on mental health, especially in the middle adulthood stage, who experience death anxiety more often. One of the effective strategies to deal with death anxiety is to have mindfulness. The concept of mindfulness can help middle-aged adults to stay focused on doing and interpreting every activity or situation without thinking about abstract things, such as death. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between mindfulness and death anxiety in middle adulthood. The total sample of 275 middle-aged adults was selected by accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and Death Anxiety Scale-Extended (DAS-Extended). The results of data analysis using the Spearman-Brown Formula showed that there was a negative relationship between mindfulness and death anxiety in middle adulthood. In other words, higher mindfulness will be associated with lower death anxiety, and vice versa. Therefore, mindfulness is associated with reduced death anxiety in middle adulthood. Abstract

Anger management is known to be challenging for adolescents because they often lack experience or coping skills to cope with complex emotions. Intense anger or unassertive anger expression may inflict severe problems on their social, physical, and mental health. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) based online intervention in improving anger management skills in four junior high school students. This mixed method research with the qualitative and quantitative results. The participants of this study are 12 – 15 years old with a high level of anger. The result showed that all participant level of anger decreased significantly, also their anger expression. Participants' anger management also increased significantly compare to the post-test and follow-up test (1-month interval). The qualitative result showed that all participants expressed that their anger management improved after the session. In conclusion, this online CBT proved to be effective in reducing adolescent anger levels and expression and increasing their anger management ability.

Abstract

While there are pervasive canonical examples of the Stroop task effectiveness to induce the ego depletion effect, there were much less is known about how this paradigm used in the Indonesian samples. Our current study aims to investigate whether the Indonesian version of Stroop task would generate ego depletion effect. Seventy-five university students between the ages of 18 and 21 were randomly assigned into three groups, two depletion and one control conditions. The first and second groups respectively received incongruent and congruent Stroop stimulus through Psytoolkit online experimental psychology platform, and the third group received no stimulus. We administered the online Corsi block test to participants in the experimental group and compared their scores with the control group to determine whether or not ego depletion effect, induced by the Stroop task, had occurred. The findings of this online experimental study demonstrate that there were no significant differences (p > .001) in participants' spatial span scores across three groups. The findings of this study suggest that performing the Stroop task to elicit the ego depletion effect should be carried out with caution. Its implication and recommendation for future research are discussed in the paper.
