Abstract

As the economic sector of Indonesia has developed, Islamic banking has emerged as a solution to the resulting issues. As is widely known, Islamic Sharia has already developed Islamic economies in other countries. Moreover, Islamic banks provide a wide range of products and services to the public, such as the Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Bintaro Branch Office, which provides financing options to individuals seeking to expand their enterprises. Including business financing, all forms of transactional activities in Islamic banks will always involve risks. This study aims to investigate the risks connected with the financing products supplied by the Bank Syariah Indonesia and to determine how to lessen the risks associated with business financing products and what steps may be taken to overcome the financing default. This study applies qualitative research using a case study research approach to describe and explain pertinent facts and data collected through interviews and other data collectiong from the institution. This study's findings indicate that risk management was performed at BSI Bintaro in line with specified rules, including the application of the 5C principles in examining the provision of financial viability to prospective consumers. However, BSI  Bintaro must address issues such as internal hazards and the elimination of tolerance analysis. Customers and banks should maintain a high level of professionalism to develop mutually advantageous business partnerships.

Abstract

Modern economic theory focuses heavily on how consumers select how much to consume now and how much to save for the future. This is a major aspect of consumer behavior (Khan, 1984). Related to this statement, the article by Prof. Muhammad Annas Zarqa has pointed to an issue that is crucial because this is likely to be one of the main questions that economists would be worried about. Thus, this paper has two aims, the first of which is to examine the notion of consumer behavior in Islamic economics. While the specific objectives were to emphasize that not all traditional theories are compatible with Muslim consumer behavior, to demonstrate that Islamic injunctions and rules related to consumption should not be introduced as constraints on consumer behavior, and to indicate the interdependence between the utility of different Muslims, attempts were made to modify consumer behavior related to shari'ah. This research uses qualitative methodology. In conclusion, Zarqa believes that the existing consumer theory must be modified to accommodate Muslim consumers. Then he addressed the point that the distinction between the preference function and the utility function should be examined in Shariah. Because classical economics considered that customer behavior must be based on the utility function in order to be satisfying, Zarqa has proposed that this problem be explored and further investigated utilizing the empirical method, without regard to the Islamic prohibition on consumer behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) in Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) on the interest of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in adopting QRIS BSI. Adopting a quantitative approach, the research employs the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method with Smartpls 4.0 as the analytical tool. The variables analyzed in this research encompass ease of use (X1), perceived usefulness (X2), and the intention to use (Y) QRIS BSI. Data for this study are obtained through primary data collected via questionnaire distribution and secondary data sourced from BSI's working documents. The research sample comprises 71 respondents selected through purposive sampling technique, with the criteria of being BSI customers from the Tangerang Karawaci Kelapa Dua branch and Micro and Small Business Actors (SMEs) who have become QRIS Merchants. The findings demonstrate that ease of use exerts a significant positive influence on the intention to use QRIS BSI. Perceived usefulness significantly and positively impacts the intention to use QRIS. The R-Square value for this research stands at 0.896 or 89.6%, indicating that 89.6% of the variance in the intention to use QRIS BSI can be explained by the variables examined, while 10.4% is attributed to other unexamined factors. Notably, perceived usefulness emerges as an exogenous or dominant variable significantly influencing the intention to use QRIS BSI, with the highest total effect of 0.585 compared to perceived ease of use. The implications of these findings underscore the significance of perceived usefulness and ease of use in driving the adoption of QRIS BSI among SMEs. As such, BSI is encouraged to intensify its efforts in promoting the practical and beneficial aspects of QRIS usage to SMEs, fostering greater acceptance and adoption among micro and small business owners. This research contributes valuable insights to the body of knowledge on the factors influencing the adoption of QRIS BSI in the context of Shariah-compliant organizations in Indonesia, providing a foundation for further exploration and development in this area.

Abstract

Maqashid Shariah, a comprehensive framework of Islamic jurisprudence, ensures the preservation and advancement of human welfare by upholding five fundamental pillars that encompass the basic needs of individuals: Preservation of Religion (Hifzu ad-Din), Preservation of Life (Hifzu an-Nafs), Preservation of Intellect (Hifz al- Aql), Preservation of Progeny (Hifzu an-Nasb), and Preservation of Wealth (Hifzu al-Maal). This research aims to analyze the influence of regional revenues on capital expenditure from the perspective of Maqashid Shariah. The study employs a quantitative descriptive approach, utilizing the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) as the statistical analysis method with Eviews 10 software. The findings derived from the FEM are subsequently subjected to analysis through the lens of Maqashid Shariah theory. The results demonstrate that Regional Original Revenue (PAD), General Allocation Fund (DAU), and Budgetary Surplus (SILPA) significantly and positively impact Capital Expenditure, while Population Size (JP) does not exhibit a significant influence. The analysis of Maqashid Shariah further reveals that capital expenditure should prioritize essential needs in accordance with the principles of Maqashid Shariah, rather than being solely determined by population size. This research contributes to the understanding of the relationship between regional revenues and capital expenditure within the framework of Maqashid Shariah, emphasizing the importance of aligning economic decisions with the objectives of Shariah in promoting the well-being of society.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) on the profitability of Islamic banks in Indonesia from 2017 to 2021, with a particular focus on the moderating role of Non-Performing Financing (NPF). Utilizing a quantitative research approach, the study analyzes secondary data obtained from annual reports of six selected Islamic banks through a purposive sampling method. The dataset comprises a total of 30 annual reports. Employing Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with SPSS version 25, the findings indicate that neither CAR nor FDR significantly affect profitability in the selected Islamic banks. Moreover, NPF is found to have an insignificant impact on profitability. However, it is noteworthy that NPF does not act as a moderator in the relationship between CAR and profitability. Conversely, NPF is found to moderate the association between FDR and profitability. These results shed light on the specific context of Indonesian Islamic banks during the studied period. The lack of a significant influence of CAR and FDR on profitability suggests that these factors may not be the primary drivers of profitability in Islamic banks. Nonetheless, the observed moderating effect of NPF on the relationship between FDR and profitability highlights the importance of credit quality in shaping bank profitability. The implications of these findings extend to regulatory authorities, bank management, and stakeholders, who can utilize them to develop strategies for enhancing the performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia. Nevertheless, it is essential to acknowledge the limitations of this study, such as the small sample size and the restriction to a specific time frame and geographical location. Thus, caution is warranted when generalizing these findings to other Islamic banks or different time periods. Future research endeavors may explore additional variables and expand the scope of the study to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the factors impacting profitability in Islamic banks.
