Abstract

Early childhood education requires an approach that values the uniqueness, needs, and potential of each child. The humanistic theory introduced by Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers serves as the foundation for child-centered learning, emphasizing unconditional acceptance, empathy, and providing children with space for self-development. This study aims to assess the application of humanistic theory in reading and play activities at TK Raudhatul Athfal Ar Raihan. A descriptive qualitative method was employed through observations and interviews. The research subjects consisted of teachers and children from groups B4 and B5. The findings indicate that teachers applied humanistic principles by giving children the freedom to choose reading materials, express their understanding of stories, and engage creatively in play activities. Teachers also created a safe, warm, and supportive environment, allowing children to explore comfortably. The children showed positive responses, such as increased self-confidence, interaction skills, creativity, and learning motivation. Therefore, the application of humanistic theory through reading and play activities effectively supports child-centered learning and contributes to their holistic development.

Abstract

This study investigates the types and sources of errors in students’ recount text writing. Using a qualitative descriptive design supported by quantitative data, ten texts produced by EFL students were analysed through an error analysis framework in Applied Linguistics. The analysis focused on identifying, classifying, and explaining learners’ errors. The findings reveal approximately 300 errors, categorized into grammatical (40%), syntactic (23%), lexical (15%), spelling (13%), and mechanics errors (9%). Grammatical errors were the most dominant, particularly in the misuse of past tense, verb forms, and articles. Syntactic errors involved sentence structure and word order, while lexical errors reflected inappropriate word choice and first language interference. Spelling and mechanics errors, though less frequent, still affected overall writing quality. The study also found that errors were mainly caused by overgeneralization, first language interference, incomplete rule application, and carelessness. These findings indicate that students are still developing their linguistic competence, especially in grammar and sentence construction. The study suggests the need for focused instruction on past tense, sentence structure, and contextual vocabulary, as well as the integration of revision and self-editing strategies to improve students’ writing performance. Keywords: error analysis, EFL writing, recount text, grammatical errors, applied linguistics

Abstract

This study aims to improve learning outcomes in Basic Accounting, particularly in the Adjustment Journal material, through a cooperative learning model of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type based on the Deep Learning approach. The main problem of the study is the low learning outcomes of students due to the lack of varied learning methods. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was implemented in two cycles. The subjects of the study were grade 10 students. Data were collected through student learning achievement tests, then analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The results of the study concluded that there was a significant increase in student learning completeness, namely from 52.8% in Cycle I to 86.1% in Cycle II. This increase indicates that the combination of the TGT model and the Deep Learning approach is effective in increasing students' in-depth understanding and activeness. In conclusion, this model can be implemented as an innovative solution to optimize accounting learning outcomes in vocational schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in learning outcomes between students taught using the Drill learning method and those taught using the Peer Teaching learning method in the Basic Accounting subject on the Accounting Cycle of Trading Companies at Vocational High School 22 Jakarta. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest-Only Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The unit of analysis consisted of 72 tenth-grade students in the Banking Services program at SMK Negeri 22 Jakarta. A saturated sampling technique was employed, in which the entire population was selected as the research sample, consisting of 36 students in the control class and 36 students in the experimental class. Data were collected through a practical test designed to assess students' cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene's Test for Homogeneity of Variance, and the Independent Samples t-test, using IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings revealed that the mean learning outcome of students in the control class taught using the Drill method was 81.25, while the mean score of students in the experimental class taught using the Peer Teaching method was 88.39. The hypothesis test yielded a significance value (Sig. (2-tailed)) of 0.049, which was lower than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between students taught using the Drill method and those taught using the Peer Teaching method. Therefore, the Peer Teaching method may be considered an alternative instructional approach for teaching Basic Accounting, particularly the Accounting Cycle of Trading Companies, while taking into account the characteristics of the learning material and students' needs. Abstract

The decision of vocational high school students to pursue higher education is influenced by various external and internal factors. This study aimed to examine the effects of social media preference, learning motivation, and self-efficacy on the intention to pursue higher education among eleventh-grade accounting students in public vocational schools in Central Jakarta. A quantitative survey method was employed involving students from three public vocational schools selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings revealed that social media preference, learning motivation, and self-efficacy each had a positive and significant influence on students' intention to pursue higher education. Simultaneously, the three independent variables also significantly affected students' intention to continue their studies. These findings indicate that appropriate use of social media, strong learning motivation, and high self-efficacy can strengthen vocational students' intention to continue their education at the university level.

Abstract

Learning objectives are considered successfully met when student learning outcomes align with those objectives. These outcomes serve as a foundation for students—particularly vocational high school (SMK) graduates—as they enter the workforce. At SMKN 31 Jakarta, specifically in the Grade X Institutional Financial Accounting (AKL) class, current learning outcomes have not yet met the established objectives. This study aims to determine whether the implementation of peer teaching and recitation methods can improve student learning outcomes. The study employs the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, utilizing the Kemmis and McTaggart model. It was conducted over two cycles, with three sessions per cycle. Data collection techniques included observation, pre-tests, post-tests, and documentation. Data analysis involved normality tests, difference tests, average scores, and pass rates. Based on the Wilcoxon difference test, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.001; since the significance value of 0.001 is less than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. Consequently, it can be concluded that the implementation of peer teaching and recitation methods effectively improves student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Task delay among vocational learners runs parallel to the rising intensity of social media use, yet their link remains loosely mapped. This study weighed social media use intensity, self-efficacy, and peer conformity against academic procrastination, and tested self-control as a moderating variable. A quantitative survey reached 152 grade-eleven learners of the Accounting and Financial Institution cluster in three state vocational schools in Central Jakarta, drawn by proportional random sampling. A five-point Likert questionnaire supplied the data, which were processed through Partial Least Square structural equation modelling in SmartPLS. Social media use intensity and peer conformity move in the same direction as delaying behaviour, whereas self-efficacy moves against it; all three are significant. Self-control interaction terms are negative and significant along every path, and the model accounts for 78.2 per cent of the variance. Strengthening self-control therefore deserves to sit at the centre of any intervention.
