Abstract

In this study, collaborative learning based on a virtual laboratory was developed because the existing model did not integrate collaborative learning with a virtual laboratory. The research step begins with designing a virtual laboratory portal with Moodle software to provide practical management services. The trial was carried out by running an online collaborative practice by implementing the Breadboard Simulator and the TeamViewer application. The research subjects were 30 students of the DIII Electrical Engineering study program. The data collection instrument used a student perception questionnaire on student perceptions about instructional aspects. Descriptive analysis was carried out using the criteria for the level of perception. The results showed that the virtual laboratory-based collaborative learning model had a positive perception of the instructional aspect and increased student motivation in carrying out practical activities

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic presents new challenges to education, especially vocational education. Learning activities could not be done face-to-face, but online learning is an alternative. The regulations governing online learning are of common concern because in vocational education there is not only theoretical learning but also practical learning. This pandemic creates new challenges for the competence of vocational education teachers specifically to be able to use technology to support the implementation of online learning. This research was conducted on vocational education teachers in West Sumatra - Indonesia, examining their competence and use of technology during the pandemic. Samples were taken from six cities; Padang, Bukittinggi, Tanah Datar, Payakumbuh, Agam, and Pariaman. This result shows that teachers always try to improve their competencies during the pandemic by training their self to use information technology in online learning, but it is not easy for them. Teachers still master pedagogical competence, personality competence, professional competence, and social competence. Teachers are more dominant in using computers and smartphones and using WhatsApp and YouTube applications to support the implementation of learning during the pandemic. Teachers must continue to adapt and innovate in online learning using hardware technology as well as the use of offline and online software applications.

Abstract

The implementation of learning the basics of surveying and mapping has not been optimal. One of the causes is the lack of use of innovative learning media that can motivate students to learn. E-modules can be one of the solutions in complementing the right learning strategies in this digitalization era. The purpose of this study was to develop an E-Module Learning the Basics of Surveying and Mapping in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Padang. The type of research used is research and development, with a 4-D (Four-D) development model, which consists of four main stages, namely defining, planning, developing, and distributing. (disseminate). The test subjects in this study were students majoring in Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP). Based on the results, it was found that the design of media and materials was valid in terms of didactic, construction, and technical aspects as well as in terms of the quality of content, learning interaction, and display. Abstract

This study aimed to develop learning media for the arts and culture of simple musical instrument games using valid, practical, and effective powtoon animations. This was motivated by the fact that the art and culture learning material for simple musical instrument games previously used the kinemaster application; the videos made were reasonably straightforward, namely only containing material, basic competencies display, indicators, video back sound (dubbing), and examples of video clips of simple musical instrument games. However, in the video, there were no quizzes and guidelines for playing simple musical instruments. This caused students to become monotonous when following the learning process. Therefore, student learning outcomes were decreased. The type of research was research and development used a 4-D model with the stages of definition, design, development, and dissemination. In this study, the dissemination phase was not carried out because of the limitations of the researchers. At the definition stage, curriculum analysis and student analysis were carried out. At the design stage, learning media design was carried out in video shows, pictures, music illustrations, and guidelines for playing simple musical instruments correctly and adequately. Finally, at the development stage, validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests were conducted. The research data were obtained through a validation questionnaire sheet, a valid questionnaire, and a student observation sheet. The validity test results showed that the learning media for the arts and culture of simple musical instrument games using animation powtoon media were developed very validly. Furthermore, the results of the practicality test show that the learning media for the arts and culture of simple musical instrument games using the animation powtoon media were developed very practical. Therefore, based on the effectiveness results, it was stated that the learning media for the arts and culture of simple musical instrument games using animation powtoon media was effectively used.

Abstract

2013 curriculum requires students as learning centres and teachers as facilitators in the implementation of learning. It means that the teachers arefacilities providers in the learning process. The teachers are the responsible ones who should create an atmosphere of conducive learning activities in compliance with students development. To implement that, the teachers have a role which should stimulate teaching and learning interactions. Thus, the teaching and learning interactionscan be effective and optimal. The role of facilitatorsis not easy for teachers. In the implementation of learning, there are various obstacles that arise from schools, teachers, and students. The obstacles that arisefrom schools are the lack of facilities and the lack of leaders’ responsibility. The obstaclesthat arise from teachersare the lack of understanding and competency to implement student-based learning activities, aside from the difficulty to change their old habits. The obstacle for students is their second nature to be lectured by teachers.

Abstract

Learning geography still tends to use the lecture method. These learning conditions will result in not creating conducive learning and will have an impact on learning outcomes. Learning is a form of interaction between individuals and their environment so that they provide a lot of experience from real situations. The curriculum is a means to achieve the desired educational program. The solution that can be done is to apply the Grassroot curriculum system by developing teaching materials for the total learning experience model. Research by developing Research and Development (R & D) using the Dick & Carey model. The results obtained are that the development of the total learning experience model has high and efficient quality and legibility.
